  1. I agree with Ritz; more green, less everything else. Unless you're looking for an overgrown temple look, more grey with the overgrowth added on after. The same is true for the second moc with the skeleton; a little more uniform color would be a good start. Like you said, a little too chaotic. On the plus side, the character idea is great. I like that you've put him in two separate vigs. Both ideas are great, they just need some polishing. All that said, you've got to start somewhere, and it's not bad for your first try. Keep it up!
  2. Just picked this set up tonight, along with a Heroica set. The weapons work well for Heroica and are sort of meh for normal use. That said, they lend some nice variety and liven up an already great set a little more. I think the only really ugly piece is the bow; the knives look fine, the sword and axe look good to me, but I prefer their traditional counterparts. The standouts in my eyes are the scepter and wand; much better looking than the star wand, and (I think) preferable to the plain lightsaber rod. I imagine seeing them in a different color and better plastic would make quite an improvement. Either way, I don't think there's much cause to worry that they'll become standard fare for castle sets; it just seems like TLC took the opportunity to double dip on the Heroica weapons to add some flair to this set; the rest of the summer lineup all use the standard stuff. This is a pretty great set, especially considering the price point.
  3. Haven't picked this up yet, but I couldn't agree more. I would love to see more like this! Here's hoping this one sells like crazy and they roll out more civilian buildings in the next few years!
  4. Ditto, the hats are nice but I especially love the arms. The levers are also a nice touch.
  5. Great design. Looks like it's ready to fire. Personally, while I usually like the wooden look, I think the matching color scheme works well here. Do you have any red cheese slopes? I think it would look sharp to lay the front of the spear between two of them, angling it up slightly.
  6. Everyone knows this set has its drawbacks, but I'd like to point out two things. First, we're judging an awful lot from one picture; I know sometimes I'm turned off to a set from the box art, but once I see it together it grows on me. This set might end up disappointing a lot of people, but I'll wait until I see a review to make my mind up about it. Second, not every set is going to knock it out of the park, but I'll cut some slack to a new set idea. I'd much rather have a so-so Echo Base set than the fifth or sixth take on an AT-ST. I agree that this set might need some heavy modding when all is said and done, but that's half the fun, right? Finally, (I guess I'm making three points, not two) there have always been some lackluster sets across all themes. I think it's an over-reaction to suggest that they're getting lazy in the design department. There have been some nice designs recently to balance out the mediocre ones. Also wanted to say, Uncle: that's a sweet Avatar you've got there.
  7. Well, it works! I really dig the look of flowers-up trees. I thought they were balanced, but the effect is so nice I figured I'd ask, just in case there was some fantastic way of attaching them I wasn't aware of.
  8. Either way, please build a Mister Gutsy!
  9. This looks terrific! The bridge is great, but I really love the effect those arches give the roof. Also like the telescope usage. :) Are the leaves attached to the branches, or are they balancing?
