I am a former Lego-addict on the verge of relapse. I'm 36 years old and have played with Legos and Lego trains during my childhood, starting with the blue rail trains which belonged to my older brother. My favorite themes were City and Space (this was around the time of Star Wars). In 1983, I was fortunate enough to visit Legoland in Denmark during a family holiday. Needless to say, I was in HEAVEN ! The fact that i was in heaven was confirmed when I went into the Lego shop. I ended up leaving with the 7750 Steam Engine and the 7740 Inter-City Passenger Train, a bunch of tracks, switches, etc.
Fast forward to the present... I was walking around on the street in my city and saw a Lego shop and decided to go in. I saw the Emerald Express. Wow ! Then I saw the current Cargo Train set and gears started turning into my head. Thanks to the modern marvel of the internet, I started doing Lego train research and I ended up here.
I'm trying to fool myself into thinking that this is just a passing fancy. I know that if I start with the Cargo Train, it will be the beginning of the end and I will soon end up with the Maersk Train and the Emerald Express. Then I'll need some City buildings to round out my setup, o, and maybe some trees, and then I'll need some base plates, hmmm... (you all know where this is going I'm sure)... somebody stop me...
