  1. Scarecrow has a noose around his neck, now that's cool. I'm hoping to get the DKR set, eventually, but the Doom set is a must have. And the Venom set. And anything else I can get my grubby little nerd fingers on.
  2. The hat, head, cape and all accesories are detatchable, but the torso and legs are fused together, and the very plastic of the legs and magnets is fused together. There are ways around this though, one person posted a way to seperate them using only hot water. Here 'tis.
  3. Thank you, though I gotta give props to the designers for being able to incorporate Flickfires into their design, something I simply struggle with! Merely meaning that if I wish to insert Batman into the cockpit, I must pry the Windscreen off manually. No hinges. More like a fist with wings, than a sleek blade, eh? This Batwing, like the majestic Bumblebee, should not be able to fly. Unlike the Majestic Bumblebee, it really can't fly. Perhaps the turbine can allow the Batwing to serve double purpose as a Seaplane.
  4. Myhobby's Batwing! Utilizing many pieces from the old Batboat, but also including a deluge of miscellaneous pieces. Batman (not shown)Fits inside the cockpit (Which doesn't really open). Slight SNOT for the Snot-colored boosters... And a bit more for the wings. The Batwing does vaguely fit the bat-shape. So, neither the build or the pictures are anywhere near the best on the board, I still hope someone will find themselves inspired!
  5. Well, sure! Why do you think I hang around here? (alt comment: oh, this I gotta see) Favorite comment: Moral watchdogs, you never disappoint. Man, I hope we find out just where the Dynamic Duo's Funhouse Escape is gonna show up (in the states) soon. I need to be ready for the stake-out.
  6. A LEGO Hearse, that's too cool. People talking about Man-bat have missed that the creature from the black lagoon's head is perfect for Marvel's Abomination. My absolute favorite set is the ghost train, the Green Flame is super erie.
  7. Well, Dark Horse does do Star Wars comics... Awesome review, good sir! Without a doubt this will be one of my favorite sets of the year. Superman's a real kick-butt dude. I've been a fan since watching the Superman Theatrical Cartoons at my Grandma's. I look forward to reenacting "The Mechanical Monsters."
  8. 2) Black Mask's Tower - A clayfull of trouble... (Build by Vimes) 1 point 13) Arkham City (Build by sok117) 1 point 4) Joker makes a withdrawal... (Build by TooMuchCaffeine) 1 point Thanks again for this awesome contest!
  9. 11) Croc’s sewer (Build by Skrytsson) 1 point 9) Eureka in the Greenhouse with Poison Ivy (Build by Miss Kyle) 1 point 16) Access to Batcave via Batpoles (Build by GV357) 1 point Awesome entries, overall!
  10. As seen in "Power Rangers Turbo," to increase the similarities between Ninjago and PR? 'Tis possible.
  11. So, i've been a fan of Batman since some time in 2009, the very day that they took all the Batman sets off of the shelves. Lacking any Batman minifigs to speak of, I set about to build a scene that takes place before there was a Batman to be seen! Originally merely encompassing Crime alley, it soon came up that Alleys are, by definition, rather small and narrow. Not really much content for a 32x32 MOC, right? So, I asked myself, why not include the Iconic theater in the MOC? That'll shoot the size right up to acceptable! "Hey, why not?" I responded. What you see is the result! Here we see the entrance to the theater! As well as some of the clientele. Allow me to direct your attention to the attention-getting "MONARCH" sign denoting the name of the establishment! Here we get a closer look at the entrance, this is truly a red-carpet affair! Here we see some poor soul attempting to haggle at the ticket booth, not quite understanding the concept of "fixed rates." And, GASP! Who could that be? It's the famous Oswald Cobblepot! He is included in this MOC both in honor of our own The Penguin, the man who donated the sets for the contest; and because he's the only Batman villain who has any real reason to be in this scene! If you had any doubt just what movie is playing at the Monarch Theater, just check out the shady-looking cosplayer hanging around the Door. The Monarch Theater, truly the height of class and grandeur in Gotham City! But all is not bright neon signs and fancy clothes... A horrific tragedy has taken place in the tiny alley behind the grand theater... A tragedy that will change one young man's life forever... "Can I get you anything, son?" asks Captain Gordon, "You okay?" The young man couldn't save his parents, but he'll sure as heck avenge them! The theater is essentially a 3-dimensional facade, having no interior except what you see of the red-carpet entrance. My hope was to show the two faces of Gotham City with the two sides of the MOC; the rich and prosperous kingdom it appears to be, and the poor, downtrodden, desolate heck-hole it is once you scratch the surface. Any comments, criticisms, shouts of glorious praise or astonished gasps of delight? "Why does everyone always bring tomatoes to a speech?!"
  12. After reading the articles, i'd say this could end up being really sweet. Like, "real kids get trapped in the world of Lego, fight the evil wizard/Brickster/Ogel-expy and return home at the end." Pagemaster/Neverendingstory/etc. with Lego Bricks, as said above. I have mild-to-moderate expectations that this will be fun.
  13. Easy answer to that! Look at the top of the box, "actual size" Batman has a cape.
  14. This contest really got my creative juices pumping! I've got a couple good ideas for Category 1, we'll see if I find enough time to build one. Thanks for giving us this chance!
  15. Arguably, the early Nineties. Gotta say, Cobblepot was a great villain, really made me wanna pound him, but a pretty sorry excuse for a Penguin. I always thought "I'm gonna kick the droppings outta you, Ozzy!" Never "Your flight's been cancelled, Penguin!" Luckily, he's the only villain that made me think that way. Spectacular game.
  16. Nice to see some pics, i'm gonna do everything in my power to get ahold of the Joker set. Ah, Bane, I can just see him driving around in his driller shouting "I will BREAK IN, Batman!"
  17. Here we come upon Captain Jack Sparrow who has, once again, lost the Pearl. But what's that behind him? Now, what ship has Semi-Black sails, is crewed by the darned and is captained by a man so grumpy, that heck itself kicked him out for bad behavior!? None other than... The Blood Prow! The creepiest ghostship to sail the waters since the last one! Here we see the Red Prow for which the vessel is named! It is said to be painted by the blood of slain enemies! And a hefty dose of Red Dye #4. Here we see the weather-worn sails and cracked rigging! Upkeep is not a big priority to the un-dieing. Here we see how it is constructed. Held together by duct tape and willpower, that one! (They must have pilfered the old ninja sets to collect such rags!) No self-respecting pirate sails without a decent skull resting upon the aft! Lifted whole-sale from the Ninjago Skeleton bike because it's just that cool. Aye, and it fit, also. No prefabrickated hull is used in this ship's construction, nay. Scratch materials were utilized in the creation of this magnificent ship! And while it may suffer for it, It doesn't look too shabby, savvy? Here be the Helm, with the imfamous Cap'n Neckbeard steerin' the vessel. His first mate, Knuckal, has learned that a sextant is slightly useless when the ship is constantly surrounded by ominous fog. Here we see that this aft-castle had battlements! Harr-de-harr-harr. What a topsy-turvy ship these ghastly seamen crew! A cargo-hold where the captain's cabin aught tah be! One lonely treasure chest lies within, but there be room for many more! And a parting shot of the Blood Prow in all it's ghastly ghostly glory! So, the story is that I wanted a pirate ship, but lacked any of the staples that the sets lend to such ships. Hulls, sails and the like. So I challenged myself to create a pirate ship using what materials I had on hand. The result is what you see before you. I drew inspiration from many sources, P of the C's Flying Dutchman lends the teeth on the Bow, obviously, but I also drew inspiration from LEGO's own ghostly ship from the fantasy kingdom series. The Grumpy Captain Neckbeard is based on first-hand accounts of Blackbeard's appearence, from the dark beard and ominous personae, to the wide-brimmed hat with the large plume. Each crew-menber is different, and only two carry a weapon that's exactly the same. So, leave your thoughts, and give me some slack with the picture quality. Shiver my timbers, shiver my soul. Yo-ho heave ho!
  18. Source (all the other info on site is correct it looks from what I have read on the board here) So, assuming that both lists are credible sources of information, we can get a bit of an idea as to the size of the sets. 6858 Batman vs. Catwoman $11.99 (USD, i'm also assuming.) Smallest set, no surprise there. Same concept as the Bat-dragster or something else entirely? 6860 The Batcave $69.99 As speculated, the largest set, sure to include at least one vehicle and several baddies. (How this price jives with the LEGO Superheroes contest Grand Prize is up for speculation...) 6862 Superman vs. Lex Luthor $19.99 (or $25.99 at TRU ) A nice size for the only non-Batman set in the wave, I think. Possibly room to include Lois Lame. Generic building, or generic building with "Daily Planet" Written on the side? Maybe a Sandy Squirrel helmet painted like a globe up top? 6863 Batman vs. the Joker $29.99 Now this is interesting... Joker is not merely included in the most expensive sets? This is a new president! You, too, can own Joker for a price that won't break the bank for most people who bother to frequent these boards. The Batmobile was the set in this pricepoint years ago, new Batmobile or something else? 6864 Batman vs. Two Face $49.99 Now I can't help but wonder if this price was switched with the Joker set somewhere down the road. Seems odd for even as popular a villain as Two-Face to get an expensive set while the Joker gets one at nearly half the price. Until we get pics (officially or otherwise...) it's still all just speculation, but that's fun, too, right?
  19. Philistine. What's wrong with that? Aside from the obvious, that is. I was hoping for "classic," but you're probably right. Perhaps I need to try again... I appreciate the critique!
  20. Being a bit of a mini-fig nut, i've been mixing and matching parts for as long as i've been a fan. More often than not, the aim is to create a character that LEGO hasn't made a official version of. My aim here is to show off these figs, and get some ideas o how to complete my WIPs. Up first are the Sandman and The Hobgoblin. Classic characters, to be sure. Sandman's hair comes from agent Dash, and his shirt from a soccer player. Hobgoblin's outfit is a mish-mash of old-timey woodsmen and fantasy skeleton. He would ideally have a brown hood, but they are surprisingly hard to come by as far as sets go... Venom here is mostly fantasy skeleton, ideally he would have the black skeleton head from that graveyard Harry Potter set. Cletus aka. Carnage has the body of a baker, the head of a rock-raider, and the hair of Norman Osborn(Amazing Origins) Mysterio, one of my favorite Spider-Man villains, is one of the more heavily customized. Gail Storm torso with arms reversed, pilfered red hands and a Beville strawberry-printed head. Again, ideally his red parts would be purple. For now, i'll pretend that he's the "back from the dead" Mysterio. Moving away from Spider-Man Deadpool is a mix of Imperial Guard, Ninjago, pirate, Prince of Persia and Spider-man. Eclectic, ain't he? Doctor Doom is very much a WIP, he still needs a green hood and a better face. Any ideas on a good DD face? Set, Fig, Price? Certainly not a awesome a selection as the other talented folks on this board, but i hope you enjoy it none the less.
  21. Seems like my kinda topic. The first one may take some thinking about but...
  22. Well, i'm not sure my figs would count as customs... I only make "pureist" figs, no custom parts like certain talented folks. Star Wars definatly, but the theme i've done the most figures in would have to be Spider-Man, filling in very unfortunate gaps in the "villain" catagory (Rhino, Hobgoblin, Mysterio...). Tons of fun. Thanks, all, for the warm welcome!
  23. In my never-ending effort to be noticed by my peers, I've created a couple of photo-comics around the web. One completely Transformers-based, the other a mix between Transformers and LEGO. So here be my first attempt at a completely LEGO-Based comic, seeing as it's a LEGO site. It's an adventure comic, with lots of humor and all-around silly stuff throughout. My intention is to post all the comics in the series in new posts within this thread, eventually linking individual comics in a sort of "table of contents" in this post. Without further adue, here's the beginning. Part 1: Bricknobs and Boomsticks. Exit stage left, leave your comments at the door.
  24. Hello friends, I am MyHobby. Writer of comics, lover of puns, and creator of patch-work colored MOCs (that only look good to the visible-spectrum impared). Minifigures are the name of the game, and the scale of the creations (often the creations themselves). Because a picture is worth a thousand words, i've got a three-thousand word essay below! I'll see you around.
