    did you put in the batteries backwards? i don't know if IR remote has reverse polarity protection. Otherwise, you can take a multimeter and measure the resistance of the remote to see of there are any shorts. If there are, the remote is probably shorting somewhere and you should get a new one.

    The cam piece (6575) and the 90 degree axle bend (10197) are still available through education sets.

    I think they probably called it "matte." Anyways, where is that transparent panel from? BMW Bike?
