I am not sure if this was mentioned before, but the blue version is exclusive to LEGO and not available in store. Same for the green Bugatti (42241). Looks like a new trend, bring a model in january in ugly color, recolor them for summer and make it exklusive in a better looking color. However, I got both.

@Auroralampinen I don't want to sound nitpicky, but it would be nice if the list at the beginning of this topic were properly maintained. These cars are all August Sets (not yet released) 10+ 42236 Custom Garage Ford Mustang 973pcs Old rumored price 64.99€. New rumored price 89.99€ 10+ 42234 Viper GTS R Technic Dodge 805pcs 64.99€ 9+ 42235 Ferrari 488 PISTA 882pcs 64.99€ Aston Martin 42240 is coming in July, not August. The small Motorbike kann be canceled. Then the entire 2026 lineup should be correct.

The new 14 gear 18 gear combo could also be a last minute addition. During gearbox development they realized that some ratios don't match. To hold its own in the world of Technic, the orange clutch gear will eventually have to be offered without the clutch mechanism as well (a normal gear with crossaxle). So a third gear is needed yet in another color. It is questionable whether all of that is really so efficient.

The gearbox is indeed a nice solution and people are hyped now for getting something "new" to build. But to be fair, the P1 gearbox is much more difficult to build and much harder to understand. Using one drum for 4 positions with 45 degrees offset represents the pinnacle of engineering excellence. And by the way the Koenigsegg largest Technic set ever has only half the number of gears included compared to the P1 inventory. The whole inventory feels very custom-made to fulfill only the purpose of this model. What bothers me personally is the extremely high number of system parts used, while there are too few gears for such a gigantic set (P1 has double the amount).

Other than in the next 1:8 car, I can't see any useful case for this new drums, except for using it in a 9 position gearbox. That doesn't necessarily mean that the transmission has to have 9 gears. 7-Speed TREMEC is for example possible, with an extra neutral gear and reverser gear directly implemented in the gearbox setup. The next Supercar can also use this setup with 8 gears + neutral. There are possibilities, but the parts feel very much like custom-made.
