I just finished building the pet shop! I started it over a month ago and just hadn't had time to complete it! It's been one of my favorite Lego builds so far! I have the PC unopened and waiting for me. And, *gulp*, the PR is on its way! Caved on it the last day of double VIP points! I was afraid it would retire before I had another chance to buy it. So, in about a month, I went from 0 to 3 modular building sets! And I'm already thinking about which one I'll pick next!

Thanks, everyone!

Hahaha! Thank you! So, the pet shop is sitting in my living room. New in box but has some shelf wear. Still sealed. Paid a little over retail but reasonable, still less than what I would've paid to get the set plus shipping from other sources. I haven't even started it yet, but I also have the Palace Cinema on order! I noticed it went to backorder and it seems like it's near the end of its run, so I thought why risk it going away too? I've turned into a monster!

I certainly don't have the bricks for a MOC. However, I do have a lead on the pet shop at a local place!! Just gotta get off work and get there! Yay! I guess I'm buying a modular building! Here we go!

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone! I'm still super undecided but it's certainly nice to hear from others and to hear a wide array of opinions. I feel drawn to the pet shop set. I am looking into getting it to try out. I'm nervous about getting stuck with a counterfeit though when buying from the secondary market.

That's a thought. I wouldn't mind buying used so long as the set is complete. I don't need a box necessarily but I do want all the pieces and the instruction book. Good first post. I was also a lurker until recently.

I'm in the US and none of the local places seem to even have an in store search feature for it available. There are some reasonable prices on bricklink. I may look at going that route. I wonder if any Lego stores would have one as a return.

Thanks for sharing your pic! The pet shop is another I was interested in but I see it's gone now too. Does anyone know where it might still be available?

Financially, the current sets aren't really an issue. I've been on my own for 10 years and have a very solid job. That said, I don't pay scalper prices for stuff out of principle. I don't mind others who do, but I choose not to. So the issue for me is really whether I'll miss not having the older sets. And the longer I wait, the more behind I'll get. Do collections without buildings such as town hall or green grocer seem incomplete? Maybe it would help me to see pictures of others' collections, especially those who are also missing earlier sets.

Back in the 90s, there was this big space set with these cool tube things. It looked like the minifigs could slide out of the main part through them. I wanted that set ridiculously bad but my parents wouldn't spend $80 on a "boy toy". Back then they were pretty strict on stuff like that. I don't even know what the series was called to try to look it up but man I'd like to find that set some day if I ever get the chance.

I've recently started to really like the looks of the modular sets. I've never really considered them because I never had the space for them but I'm going to be buying a real house soon and will have a lot more space for Lego fun and displays. I did pick up the Monster Fighters Haunted House way back but never had room to put it together. I've recently started working on it and am having a lot of fun with it. I really, really want to have more to work on. So, my dilemma is... do I avoid getting into the modular sets because I have missed out on so many? I tend to be a bit of a completionist for certain things and I feel like this would be one of them. Is there any chance that there will be remakes of some of the older sets? The rerelease of the winter village toy shop gives me some hope, though maybe false hope. I love the idea of creating a large display with the modular buildings but I feel like I've missed out on some critical sets. I would be fine with remakes or new versions and wouldn't necessarily need the originals, but I feel like my display wouldn't be complete without Town Hall for example. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice for someone new to modular builds? I'd sure appreciate it!

How long for missing piece replacement?

Called today and they said my parts would be on the way soon. Got a shipping notice this evening! -
It's been restarted many times over the last year and the glitch is still present.

Not sure where to ask this... I tried searching but there's 267 pages to this thread so I wasn't very successful. My Lego dimensions game is glitched. I bought the new Harry Potter pack and an item I need is missing. I've looked at FAQs and guides and the place where it should be there is nothing. I also have to be honest, I got stuck because of a glitch in the story mode a year ago and now haven't the slightest idea what I accomplished and what I haven't. Should I just erase my save and start over? I hadn't gotten very far anyway.

Hey, everyone! Here's my standard intro post. I'm from Kentucky. I've been a fan of Lego since I was pretty young. I'm now 29. I didn't have a lot of Lego as a kid but I loved building houses and playing with the minifigs. My cousin and I would spend hours each summer in the pool with our water themed Lego sets. I've casually collected sets I enjoy from various themes for the last few years, but I'm interested in getting into the modular sets more now. I have no idea where to start, so that's why I joined the forum. Some themes I like are DC comics, Harry Potter, Winter Village, Monster Fighters, Disney, and Star Wars. I'm currently working on the Disney castle. Other things I enjoy are collecting American Girl dolls and spending time with my Yorkie. My day job is a physician. I've only been out of school 18 months. I'd also like to meet other female Lego fans. I don't know very many!
