  1. yaaawn. Not that it matters now, but the annoying old idiot is voting too, vote: Susan Webb / Brickme
  2. Afraid not, I was sleeping, I'm quite a heavy sleeper as you've no doubt have noticed, took all this noise just to wake me up. *goes back to sleep*
  3. zzzzz yaaaawn, what the hell is all this noise about? Can't an honest man be allowed to sleep a bit? Oh, killings you say, hmm, well, wake me up if there's to be any lynchings, I'm going back to sleep. And do try to keep the noise down a bit will you? You're making such a racket that anyone could do anything without being noticed. zzzz
  4. Oh really? Do tell me more, this is very fascinating stuff, just the kind I need for my comic book.
  5. Went to sign up at least, but I couldn't find Norway in the list of countries
  6. Sometimes I wonder if you actually enjoy the pain..
  7. Very nice Not sure what those soldiers are up to, but it can't be good And it reminded me a bit of the forces of evil in the opening scenes of the movie Nightwatch
  8. I Scream Clone: 2 Kris Kelvin: 2 Derfel Cardarn: 2 fonz: 1
  9. A little advice here, Google Docs is brilliant for this sort of thing, create some docs there, share them with Bob and you both have easy access to all the information you both need.
  10. Eyh, what the hell is all this noise? I'm trying to get some sleep here, this town square is my only home after all, I, Ryan Alberts, lives here after all. Now be quiet!
  11. Just as random as you and Shadows being a couple in Infection I suppose..
  12. I never even considered showing people being infected, so that's something you'll have to wonder about And my final post of "boring background information that nobody cares about: The character names: (as requested by Dragonator ) Susan Antares - "Susan" from Susan Ivanova in Babylon 5, "Antares" from the comic The Red Star Varax Fraa - "Varax" from a character in the Neal Stephenson novel Anathem, "Fraa" from the same novel, it's a title of a male member of the convents Engofi Cheipo - one of the very few names I came up with on my own Niwrad Selrac - "Carles Darwin" backwards Michael Sheridan - "Michael" from security chief Michael Garibaldi, "Sheridan" from captain John Sheridan, both from Babylon 5 Sarah Ohce - "Sarah" actually from Sarah Kerrigan in StarCraft, "Ohce" was just some random word I came up with. Barney Vance - "Barney" from Barney Calhoun, "Vance" from Eli / Alyx Vance, both from Half-Life (2) Leonard Nyer - another one of my own Fassin Trevlac - "Fassin" from Fassin Taak in the Iain M. Banks novel The Algebraist, "Trevlac" backwards of "Calvert", from the Peter Hamilton novel The Reality Dysfunction La'h'rok - "Kor'h'al" backwards, Korhal is a planet in the StarCraft universe Jad Suur - "Jad" from a character in Anathem, "Suur" is a title of a female member of the convents in that novel Engofi Cheipo - another one of my own S/N: 'AHY6CEF3' (aka DAVE) - just random numbers, but "DAVE" is of course a reference to 2001: A Space Odyssey Khrum & Wicwa - from the character Wickwrackrum in the Vernor Vinge novel A Fire Upon the Deep (from this novel I also got the idea for the alien to be a pack mind) Ivan "the terrible" - it felt natural to include a chef, it also felt natural to name him Ivan, and a bad chef named Ivan would obviously be nicknamed "the terrible" Florentzia Lizar - clearly the most obscure inspiration, named after Lisa Lorentzen, a math professor I had back at university Ada Bergsndot - "Ada" from Ada Lovelace, history's first computer programmer, "Bergsndot" from A Fire Upon the Deep Ernev Seluj - "Jules Verne" backwards, though based on the character Jules Verne from Anathem, not on the author. Ben Elegnem - "Ben" from the doctor Ben Franklin in Babylon 5, "Elegnem" is Mengele backwards, and if that name doesn't mean anything to some of you, go look it up. Edna Hyrlis - "Edna" from nurse Edna in the computer games Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle, "Hyrlis" from opening the book I had closest at hand (the Iain M. Banks novel Matter) on a random page an picking the first name I found on that page.
  13. Kinda figured that out already, but thanks for telling everyone
  14. Why, yes! It's about a dashing young heroine, Luna Rouge, battling horrible creatures from beyond our own dimension after a sect of lunatics opens a portal by performing an ancient rite in the ruins of a mighty temple. I find these ruins are a lot like what I want my comic to look, so I'm here seeking inspiration for the look of the comic.
  15. Hiya, I'm Quentin, nice to meet you all. Must say, this does look like an excellent setting for my upcoming comic, I'm certain Marvel and DC is going to fight to get the right to publish it. I know you don't like me And I'll fix my avatar once my website is back up.
  16. Yay, this looks good, sign me up please Guess that means you'll have to start FBI.. again
  17. So, as promised.. Infection night actions Night 1 Shadows blocked Svelte (success) Svelte tried to investigate Shadows (not success, blocked) The Infected used Mr Mandalorian to kill WhiteFang (success) The Infected used Sandy to block Zepher (no effect) WhiteFang tried to protect Shadows (not success, WhiteFang was killed) simonjedi decided to stay in his lab (success) Darth_Legois tried his traitor ability on YG-49 (no effect) I Scream Clone tried to kill YG-49 (success) Clearly a good night for the Infected, the investigator was blocked, they killed the protector (who didn't have a backup) and the vigilante killed a non-infected. Night 2 Shadows blocked stash2sixx (no effect, stash's night action hadn't been enabled) The Infected used Mr. Mandalorian to try to kill simonjedi (success) Svelte investigated Sir Dillon (success, but flawed as Sir Dillon was a miller) Darth_Legois tried to use his traitor ability to link up with Dragonator (success) The Infected used Sandy to try to block eskallon (no effect) simonjedi didn't use his night action I Scream Clone tried to kill Darkness Falls (success) Not such a good night for either party. Night 3 Shadows blocked I Scream Clone (success) The Infected used Inertia to try to kill Darth_Legois (not killed, link to the rest of the pack re-established) Svelte investigated eskallon (success, non-infected) Darth_Legois tried to regain link with Zepher (no effect) I Scream Clone tried to kill Black Rabbit (no success, blocked) The Infected used Mr. Mandalorian to block JimButcher (no effect) This Night left me with something of a dilemma, what should I take pictures of. In the end I went with showing ISC being blocked by Shadows, and unintentionally included some clues in the pictures, namely that I forgot to remove the weapon ISC was carrying. Night 4 Shadows blocked Sandy (no effect) The Infected used Inertia to kill Svelte (success) Svelte tried to investigate Shadows (success, but has he was killed right afterwards he couldn't tell anyone) I Scream Clone tried to kill Mr. Mandalorian (not success, blocked) The Infected used Mr. Mandalorian to block I Scream Clone (success) This Night also left me with something of a dilemma, who out of Mandy and ISC succeeded with their night actions? Did a "die roll" (looked up a random number) and as it was an even number it ended up being Mandy that succeeded. Another effect of this Night was that Hinckley became the investigator as he was the backup for that role. Night 5 Shadows blocked pedro (no effect) The Infected used Inertia to kill I Scream Clone (success) The Infected used Mr. Mandalorian to block I Scream Clone (success) I Scream Clone tried to kill Sandy (not success, blocked) Hinckley investigated I Scream Clone (success, non-infected) This night meant the vigilante role passed to stash2sixx, the backup vigilante. Night 6 Shadows tried to block Zepher (not success, Shadows was blocked, but it wouldn't have had any effect either) The Infected used Inertia to kill Shadows (success) The Infected used Sandy to block Shadows (success) Hinckley investigated stash2sixx (success, non-infected, but hardly relevant) stash2sixx killed Zepher (success)
  18. No no, they're on their way to an undisclosed location I'm considering that. Though, there are other games want to run before a sequel to Infection. So it certainly won't be my next mafia game on EB at least.
  19. I'll put up a complete list of all night actions when I get home from work today.
  20. That particular role is called a cowardly reporter
  21. I didn't make anyone anything, I did a random selection (or rather, wrote a program that did a random selection) and that's how it turned out. I did switch Inertia and Draggy to make sure someone who knew about the flying pumpkin got that role, but that was after they had both become scum so it didn't matter. Uhm, and as Shadows has gentle reminded me, I did make him and Hinckley a couple, that's true No, you didn't: This actually had far less impact than one would think, as you'll see once I get around to posting all the night actions. Shadows targeted infected on only 1 Night ISC fared a little better, he managed to target infected on 3 Nights, but two of those attempts were blocked.
  22. Ooops, I was very wrong about Galactica Paranoia, 7 out of 22 there.
  23. Excuse me, but, enhanced night actions? How? As for the number of scum it can be debated endlessly, but I'm pretty certain that the only effect it would have had if there were 5 scum in this one was that the game would have lasted one more Day . Maybe 6 was too much, maybe not. Could probably have done this with 23 players instead though, but I really don't think it would have had any effect on the game. Edit: And checked a couple of earlier games, Mystery Castle had 6 scum out of 21 players, Baritones 2 (which was probably the most well-balanced game we've had on EB) had 6 out of 21, Galactica Paranoia had 7 out of 22 (if you include all that were recruited during the game), (Witch Hunt had as we all know 0 scum ), Noir actually had 6 too, but that was out of 23.
  24. Gah, can't sleep : So, here's a list of all the sources for the topic descriptions for the different threads, these were all quotes from Babylon 5: Intro thread - "ready to receive you. The KF Gagarin is open for signup." - paraphrased from the closing lines of the pilot "We are ready to receive you. Babylon 5 is open for business" Confirmation/Discussion thread - "Who are you? What do you want? " The two fundamental questions in Babylon 5 as asked by the Vorlon and the Shadows. Day 1 - And so it begins - spoken by Vorlon ambassador Kosh in the last episode of the first season, later reused in the credits sequence for Season 5 Day 2 - You must embrace the madness, let it fire you - said by Centauri ambassador Londo Mollari to his assistant Vir Cotto in episode 17 of sesaon 2. Day 3 - Between the Darkness and the Light - from the oath of the Grey Council of the Minbari Federation. Day 4 - ..a bunch of misfits. You really don't have a clue, do you? - the traitorous security guard Jack to Chief of Security Garibaldi in episode 2 of season 2 Day 5 - so much is falling apart out there - Minbari ambassador Delenn to Captain John Sheridan in episode 11 of season 4. Day 6 - it is too late for the pebbles to vote - Ambassador Kosh in episode 11 of season 1, the full quote has already been posted in the discussion thread, but here it is anyway: "The avalanche has already started, it is too late for the pebbles to vote"
