I actually had the same idea for a podracer for the recent FBTB's podracer challenge, but couldn't submit it because the rules stated that you couldn't use any animals in the design.

Also a Northeastern Ohio resident. Haven't heard of any LUG's in our area, but I am so glad they finally gave us a Lego store. Let me know if you plan on starting anything.
