  1. I'm pretty sure I understand what you two are asking and this quick mockup should answer your questions.
  2. Just a heads up to anyone who is only able to download version 4.3.10 from the LEGO website, there is a way of forcing .11 to download. 1. Right click the download button 2. Copy the link address/url 3.paste it into the address bar and then amend the version number from 10 to 11. This... https://lc-www-live-s.legocdn.com/downloads/ldd2.0/installer/setupLDD-PC-4_3_10.exe becomes this. https://lc-www-live-s.legocdn.com/downloads/ldd2.0/installer/setupLDD-PC-4_3_11.exe
  3. I'd also like to know whether the promotions applies to EU customers, so I've contacted LEGO Customer Services asking for clarification. I'll report back when I get a reply.
  4. Does anyone know the dimensions of the box?
  5. It's something that's really easy to fix and will likely only come at the cost of raising the vents by one plate but I too am a little bit surprised that the design made it to the finished article... but hey, if the model was perfect, there'd be no reason to tinker with it and fix the little issues that (we feel that) TLG let slip and surely that's where some of the fun is?
  6. It was posted several days ago when it was originally leaked. Personally I think that it's 100% genuine... either that or the best hoax I've ever seen (be it LEGO or otherwise).
  7. I'm gonna be honest... this isn't exactly the most exciting of teasers but it's still pretty interesting non the less.... and actually, the more I think about it, the more exciting it gets. The dimensions for the Death Star box are 58.5 x 59.6 x 17.1 cm where as the original UCS Millennium Falcon's box measured in at 64.39 x 47.63 x 19.69 cm. That gives each box internal volumes of 59.6 litres and 60.3 litres respectively. Now to my eyes at least, it looks as if the box on the left, which it must be pointed out that it's an outer shipping box, looks to be about twice the volume!
  8. You're right about the selection tool. Holding CTRL does have a similar functionality but the important thing I was proposing was that releasing the "selection key" and then clicking another part or on a blank area wouldn't deselect all the previously selected parts. I find it very frustrating when I've added a large number of bricks to a selection and then when I reposition the camera to add further parts that weren't previously visible, just one errant click can deselect all of the previous bricks. I just want some kind of fail safe that'd avoid this frustration. I have to hold my hand up and say I didn't even know about the group functionality. The way the section plane* works in Sketchup is... you select the section plane tool from the toolbar and then place it on part of the model. If you place it on a horizontal side of an object, the section plane will be horizontal. If you place it on an angled side of an object, the section plane will be set at that angle. The section planes appearance is that of a large orange square that extends to the furthest-most bricks in the model and it has four buttons, one at each corner, that can be used to alter the plane's height by clicking and dragging the mouse. If you were to place the section pane on the very top brick of a model and then, using the height adjustment buttons, drag it down through the model, everything above the section plane (or below depending on which mode you're using) would become ghosted. With this tool, you'd be able to modify the deepest depths of a model without the need for major rebuilds or the copious button clicks required with the current ghost tool. I know that this proposed tool doesn't really do anything that can be achieved by other pre-existing means but it'd certainly speed things up. * I had erroneously called it "selection plane" in my first post.
  9. There are few things I've been thinking about of late. All of them born out of my use of Google Sketchup. A new selection tool or keyboard combination that would let you select and deselect bricks only by clicking directly on them. Clicking anywhere else on the LDD window has no effect on your selection... all the chosen bricks remain selected. A group tool. Once you've used the selection tool, you could group the selected bricks together. When you click on the group, all the bricks within the group are selected. The only way to modify the group is to double click a brick contained with in the group, this would cause the rest of the bricks in the entire model to become ghosted and uneditable. A plane selection tool. One of the most annoying, time consuming things with LDD is having to tear apart a model or ghost a large number of bricks just to change a few pieces in the models interior. I know that's a lot to ask but that's what I would like to see. Now, for the one thing that I want above all else in LDD. 4. Some kind of locking mechanism that prevents bricks from jumping about... that's probably not a very good description so I'll give an example. How ridiculously difficult and frustrating is it to place a wheel on a long axle or a brick on the underside of a plate only to have the wheel hub jump from the central hole to one of the six holes that surround it or for the brick to jump to everywhere but the one place you want it? I want some kind of keyboard combination that stops this frustration. The way it'd work is you either position the brick in a way that's similar to how you want it to end up (top or bottom of a brick that's already placed within the model) and then press and hold a keyboard button. Or, in the case of a large wheel with seven holes in the hub, you'd place the wheel on the axle, press and hold the aforementioned key that'd "hold" it on the axle and then use another keyboard button to toggle through the possible connection types.
  10. This is a guy named Chuck, he's also know as askacapper and the "can't stand up, stand up comic". He's a quadriplegic, comedian and like most of us; a video gamer. He's started a petition to get developers to allow custom button mapping in games so people with mobility problems can still play videogames. He intends to take it to the PAX videogaming and charity event held in Boston, MA and speak to all the developers he can. Here's a link to the petition - http://www.petitiononline.com/cu5t0m/petition.html --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This has to be the funniest video I've seen so far this year. It looks like it's going viral. Earlier today it had around 480,000 views and now it's at 560,000.
  11. Thanks for complementing my name but more importantly, thanks for signing! The petition now has over 41,000 signatures. Chuck (askacapper) is hoping to get to 50,000 by March 11th when he'll take a copy of the petition to the PAX gaming and charity event in Boston, Massachusetts. He's said he won't leave until he's spoken to every developer. I'd really love for you guys and girls to help out and add your signature... let me know if you've signed (I figure the more posts in this thread, the more people that will sign).
  12. Sorry for the slow reply, things have been hectic. roamingstudio - Thanks for the suggestion, it looks like there's some good stuff there. xSergio74 - It's always nice to see a developer who's active in the community. I managed to place more than one piece (yay!), so thank you. I can see that SR 3D won't replace MLcad and LDD as I had first thought but SR 3D should prove to be indispensable with the project I'm working on so again, thanks.
  13. I currently half way through American Pyscho and a book called Nothing to Envy which is about North Korea. I haven't read much lately though, so I'm trying to make a real effort to set aside time to read.
  14. That's a pretty cool design. There are two things though, that I think detract from the overall realism, I hope you don't mind a bit of constructive criticism. 1. Engine blocks - as there's no air on the moon, it looks odd to me that the buggy has air intakes/vents. 2. Rubber tires - as there's no atmosphere on the moon, conventional inflatable tires would explode so "tires" made of a woven steel mesh coated in zinc are used.
  15. I've just watched a cartoon that's new to the UK called "Bob's Burgers". I believe it's by the same people as the criminally overlooked Home Movies and from what I've seen so far, it looks like it's shaping up to be a great show.
  16. What is your favorite Series: Definitely TNG, it's what I grew up on as a kid. It was my first insight into Star Trek and even though I believe Voyager is technically better (but not by much), the memories I associate with TNG make it a no contest. Your Favorite films of the series: It's hard to say. I've never got around to watching the TOS era movies for various reasons (mainly not wanting to have them interrupted by adverts). To be honest, I never really like the more action oriented TNG era movies. I think that something was lost from the series. Your favorite Characthers from the shows: Mot the barber of course... And your favorite epsiode : I'll get back to you. 02:47 is not the ideal time to answer such a question. I have a questions of my own. 1. What's your favourite ship and why?
  17. I saw "loading..." whilst looking at the leaderboards in Forza Motorsport 3. I was scrolling down too fast so the gamertags had to load before I could go any further. I though it'd make a cool gamertag but alas, you can't use punctuation in gamertags. SO now I use it as my username whenever I can (it's also my hupit username).
  18. I've just downloaded SR 3D as it looks like it strikes a balance between LDD and MLcad but, as embarrassing as it is to admit, I can't figure out how to place more than one brick. Could someone please take pity on this poor misguided AFOL and tell me the very basics of using SR 3D?
  19. This is the part I want. And this is why I want it.
  20. Hi everybody. I'm new to these boards, membership wise at least (I've been a lurker for months now) and having recently emerged from my "dark ages" I intend to post regularly, mainly in the Star Wars section. Rather than make an introduction thread I thought I'd hit the ground running and post a link to a petition that I think many people here would like to sign. Some of you may think that I've just joined to post this, well I can only beg for your indulgence so bear with me while I explain what the petition is about. It was started by a guy who goes by the youtube name of AskACapper, he's a quadriplegic "can't stand up, stand up comic" and like many of us, an avid vidoegamer... you know what, I'll let the man himself tell you - Here's the petition - http://www.petitiononline.com/cu5t0m/petition.html Thank you to everyone who signs, especially those of you who post the link on another forum or tell friends about it.
