  1. Thanks!^^ Thanks Bregir, and thank you for the input. I would have done more work with the landscape, but I'm sadly lacking in plates/bricks in the right colours =( Too much red, yellow and blue in my collection. And most of my bricks is unfortunately 2x3,4 and so on... So I'll just have to put more $$$ into Bricklink =P
  2. A WIP photo of my first MOC on the Eurobrick forums. Actually my first MOC in 10-12 years probably, haven't done this since I was a kid =P
  3. Intro post for my sigfig: The Duchy of Shiara and its capitol, Illiar, named after its founders, the twins Illior and Illiana, was once a great nation. Its borders spread far and wide. It was rich with trade, craftsmanship and mining. However, after years of malfeasance and poor leadership from its nobility, its glory had vanished. Duke Ellisor, had planned for his son, Mizahar, to marry one of the neighbouring Lords’ daughters and restore the power of Shiara. Mizahar however, fell in love with an elven noble, Aviellin, and went to his father and asked permission to marry her. Duke Ellisor denied his request. Mizahar and Aviellin ran away and settled in an old cottage deep in the forest. With only their two closest companions, Mizahar’s shieldman Sedrin and Aviellin’s maiden Elaine, they lived a peaceful, quiet life in the forest. Duke Ellisor, filled with grief after his sons disappearance, searched everywhere for Mizahar. The duke’s brother, Baron Ellisar however, saw this as an opportunity to become the ruler of Shiara and started his own search for the lost Mizahar. Meanwhile Mizahar sired a son, and naming him after the duchy he had left behind, they named him Shiar. A few weeks after Shiars birth Baron Ellisar found the cottage and sent his guard to slaughter the residents. Mizahar, holding of the attackers, bid the other to flee the forest and save Shiar’s life. Sedrin, clutching the newborn, ran through the forest. As he emerged from the trees, he was only one there. He made vow to always keep Shiar safe and to take care of him as his own son, and to one day, when the time was right, reveal to him who he really was. Meanwhile, Baron Ellisar staged a coup in the capitol, killed Duke Ellisor and put himself on the throne. In the conflict of Revolword, when the elementals was unleashed upon the land, both the duchy and capitol were razed. The few surviving members fled Shiara and settled in other Avalonian nations. Only the deserted and overgrown ruins of this once proud realm remains. Travelling far and wide, always afraid of Ellisars assassins, Sedrin finally joined up with a travelling merchants caravan as guard. Sedrin raised Shiar as his own son, never telling him the tale of his parents was killed and who he really was. Shiar never really understood why he had to learn all the things Sedrin trained him in; like how to ride and take care of a horse, how to fight with sword and shield, archery and how to use a quarterstaff; when no one of the other children had to. He also had to learn the history of Historica, how to survive in the wilderness, battlefield strategy and how to best command soldiers. Then, at end of the Battle for Nocturnus, the drows attacked the merchant’s caravan. Sedrin was gravely wounded, and on his deathbed, he told Shiar of his parents and the duchy they had to leave. Shiar, vowed to go back to his ancestors duchy and restore it to its former greatness. After Sedrin’s funeral pyre had burned out, he packed his saddlebags and headed for Avalonia and Shiara. To clarify, my sigfig is Shiar al'Mizahar and he is on his way to claim his rightful place as the ruler of Shiara. This is Shiar, riding through the wilderness, on his way to Shiara: I will be changing his appearences as I get some new bircks and parts. As you can also see, I'm flying a grey banner (as I apparently don't own a single sandgreen or dark green brick...) I'll change that as soon as I get some flags in the right colours. This is the land I'd like to claim as Shiara (marked in blue)
  4. Sorry for my absence and for not posting a sigfig yet, been waiting for some bricks to arrive, but it looks like it's gonna take a while. So I'll just post a sigfig later tonight and do some changes to him when the gear and parts arrive. Also, I've just started an internship and I'm finishing my bachelors degree this spring, so I might not be posting regularly before summer. Okay, I'll just use his first name, so then that's settled^^ Yeah, the humour of the series is sweet, so I see why you would use that =) Weeell, right now I'm just trying to establish the backstory and build my own piece of land, so at the moment I'll just build my own stuff. But I think I will be settling in the area near you, so maybe sometime in the future I got a name for my piece of land and capitol, but there might be a village settled between rivers, and it might be known as Two Rivers or Twin Rivers, we'll see Thanl you Rogue!
  5. Im from Norway, but they're translated to 15-20 different languages I think =) Ah, then I'll remove that name from the list then =) Really? Guess I'll go pester him about those books too then xD
  6. Nice! I think I'm at 5 or 6 times. Fantastic books those aswell. I just get lost in them and when I finally emerge after having read them all ('cause I can't stop when I first start the series), I fully believe I'm in the middle ages and ready to ride through the desert the Holy Land or kill some invading danes in Götaland. Edit: YEAAAY! LEGOS! As you can see, my bricks just arrived. I've got a nice little collection, though it's mostly sets and 2x 4,6, and so on, so maybe not the most suitable for MOCing. As you can see, I also got some sorting to do... x)
  7. Thank you, de Gothia. I saw some of your builds earlier, the one where they were going to build a new bridge where the old one had been taken by the stream. The one with the two Kaliphlin stonemasons/builders. And I just must ask you, do you borrow from Jan Guillou's The Crusades Trilogy? That scene just reminded me a bit of it. I'll be using quite a few names, might be doing some alterations and rewritings though, don't quite now yet. Oh, don't worry, won't be using that, but that could lead to some really fun builds^^ And yes, I just noticed I got some major characters names in there also... well, well, who cares? x)
  8. Yeay! Glad someone is as excited as me about those books! It was my first major fantasy read (with the exception of HP and LoTR) back when i was 11-12 y/o. They're just amazing! No worries, I'm using some names (but not any of the major ones) and some concepts to make my own names, but no plot elements
  9. Thanks for the input. I think I found a way to do it, now i just need some scimitars and unicorn horns
  10. Thank you Titus, much appreciated. Well, as long as those pumpkin pies of theirs don't try to eat any parts of me, I'm fine with that. Oh, I will ask. When I have some questions that need answering that is For now, I only have one question, I'm trying to build a weapon for my sigfig. If anyone knows the Guandao or the Ashandarei from Wheel of Time series, you've got the gist of it. A spear with a spike on one end and swordblade on the other. Anyone got any suggestions for what parts I could use for this? Sorry if it's the wrong place to ask, just don't know where else Edit: typos
  11. Thank you Graham. All my sets are broken down and I'm still trying to figure out what I would need to expand my collection. I saw Gabes list somewhere, but it's a huge list. Can't buy all those parts at once. Guess I'll figure it out as I build. Already joined. I joined Avalonia, both for my love for the Arthurian legends and high fantasy, and because I think that is what will suit my collection best
  12. Hi! Me and my sigifg, Shair, would like to pledge allegiance to Avalonia! I know I should be posting a picture of my Sigfig, but my bucket of bricks will be arriving some time next week. I'm a newb and haven't done many MOCs before, just started with Legos again, but used to build a lot when I was a kid. I love Castle lego and the old Arthurian legends, so I think I will fit nicely in here. Thanks
  13. Hi! My name is Kyo, I'm 25 y/o, from Norway. I used to love to build and play with Legos when I was a kid. Me and my bestfriend built castles and big battlescenes. It's been a while since I've touched my Lego collection, but when I was building with my godson a couple of months ago it reignited my passion for bricks. So after that I've been searching the internet for inspiration and fellow fans, and then I ended up here when I saw Derfel Cadarns guide on building a medieval village. I'm looking forward to trying my skills in some historic/fantasy MOCs, but I'm a newb, so I'll need to hone my skills. After seeing some of the MOCs in GOH I might join a guild there. Unfortunately, my collection consists largely of bright coloured pieces, so I guess I'll need to buy/bricklink/PaB some sets and pieces to build what I want. Regards Kyo Edit: typos
