I have no modular sets. Pay day is next week. Do I chance it and see if I can make the purchase today...

Your story rings so many bells with me. Right down to the fact that I'm called Dave and in my late (no, wait, senior mid!) 20s!!! Welcome to the forum

Just on the comment of having one north of the border, I'd love to see this too. I can rarely justify trips down south but I do find myself in Glasgow/Edinburgh on a semi-frequent basis. However, with a Liverpool store, I am looking forward to this, I find myself in the area every so often, so an added distraction is more than welcome

How open are you about your Lego passion?
Zoidy replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Absolutely no issue with my Lego passion. I get mocked for it, but in an affectionate way, and I quite enjoy it. I know folk who have all sorts of hobbies, my old man builds model railways (I enjoy that too but it is far too expensive), I've friends who fly remote control planes, build Airfix, you name it and they are all proud of it so I see no reason why I can't be proud of my hobby! There's always a Lego model on my other half's table and folk now just ask "He's bought a new one, hasn't he?!!" -
When did your collection reach critical mass?
Zoidy replied to Arigomi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Not even bothering with part counts, but I'm already out of space. My old school collection is at my parents house and the little space that was allocated here as an interim measure has gone beyond bursting point. I need a new house basically, with a Lego room! -
Nicely done, I like the detail. Good use of the new minifig too

A little pricey, I agree, but I do like the Police car. Finally bought mine a couple of weeks ago, had a bit of fun building but would have expected a bit more for the cost.
-
Mine arrived today, which has kept me buzzing as I couldn't build it due to "real" construction tasks (painting, electrics, that kind of thing!). It is a brilliant little build, very classic town 4-wide plane. I don't like the wings much though, they would have been better as a solid construction and the tail piece looks a little off, could have been a little more flush with the structure. But all good, and I'm having fun playing with it

Nice review. It's making me excited, I just received the email confirmation that my order has been dispatched, so hopefully be with me soon. I've got to admit, this will fit in just nicely with my 6392 airport (My link). I think that it would be a little pricey per part if this was just a regular set, however given the exclusivity and sheer awesome design, I'm not begrudging my £18. Will be a fun distraction for my days off from work

That's mine ordered too. Nice little treat and possible "investment"

Another classic set I own. Unfortunately, with the exception of the crate (which is still in existence), the crane is scattered in many parts in several boxes. I ought to have a look to see if I still have the entire set! In my old town it used to find work at my harbour (6541 - Intercoastal Seaport and 6542 - Launch & Load Seaport). A common story used to involve it competing with 6352 - Cargomaster Crane for work and the operators of said vehicles getting into many comic fights, keeping my already overstretched police busy! (Too much imagination as a child. Even more so as a grown up now that I want to rebuild them!)

Incredible. Whilst the pictures are great, I can't help but feel they only show a small fraction of this amazing airport. The model must look great and well worth the time of construction and planning. As for the little story, it really made me chuckle, some of the sheer silliness in the scenes cracked me up (a chicken on the tracks!!). Good effort, you've made the thought of my impending nightshift tonight a lot more bearable

I have this set still fully assembled (though the female and "pilot" minifigs are missing somewhere!) at my parents' house. I loved it, one of my favourite sets :)

I currently have "Sick, sick, sick" by Queens of the Stone Age playing at the moment. I wonder if there's scope to changing the lyrics to that of a Lego theme and calling it "Brick, brick, brick"...

Hi Sleepie, Nice design with some good details, I like the spreader at the rear. Welcome to the forums, perhaps you could give us a little introductory story over in the new members section :-)

Excellent news. I have to confess that the financial crisis was part of the reason (there are many others!) I "found" Lego again, I was fed up wasting money on useless stuff and with that in mind, I decided a hobby was a good way to spend my money as I could see the investment. Plus, when I had no money left towards the end of the month, I could have fun with what I had. I'm sure I'm not the only one though...

1. Definitely a decent hospital. Ambulance bay with attached emergency ward, surgery, wards, cafe, x-ray machine etc. 2. A street market. I think that could be quite nice, a road plate or two with gates/fencing on both ends to block the street off along with a number of different stalls (hot food, gifts and so on) along with seating. It would be good to have the stalls free-standing in such a way that the constructor can place them in any location he/she sees fit. 3. A new public works centre, similar to a re-imagining of 6383 (http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=6383-1). Ultimately, I could probably raise the number of wanted sets to about 30, but I'll limit it to the 3 that are really on my mind right now!!

Yes, that is an awesome Pantera song. Just as I opened this topic, Walk by Pantera just popped on in my itunes :-)

Zoidy is the short form of Dr. Zoidberg from Futurama. I used to use Dr. Zoidberg on an old forum, everyone nicknamed me Zoidy, so I just adopted that. I've just circled the name amongst a few I use on other forums. Nothing too exciting I'm afraid!!

I too went looking for it, the episode with the outdoor 10 mile Hornby set was on TV the other night, which was excellent. The Lego one was a good watch too.
-
Not many "rituals" but I like to do the following - Have iTunes on - Eat beforehand, no food or drink is allowed near the construction zone - Ensure my camera is working, for photos natch! - Mix all the parts together, I don't believe in doing things by bag or sorting pieces. I actually enjoy the little treasure hunt of digging through all the pieces looking for an elusive 1x1 piece - Ignore the other half. And I mean completely ignore her!

Enjoyable review. This is next month's "treat" (budget for this month was more than exhausted!), particularly liking the truck. The only thing I don't particularly like is the security driver having "Police" on his back, but not to worry, he will be deployed in an alternate role in my town.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
Zoidy replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Got my first 6 from Argos this morning. 2 Samurais 2 Rappers Tennis Player Baseball Player. To have two duplicates was a bit odd I guess, but I'm not complaining too much, they'll get used for something! -
It might be "nerdy" but then, isn't every hobby? I know guys who fly remote control planes, take cars to bits and rebuild them, amongst other things... All of which I think are very similar in essence. I echo the "I don't care" sentiments. Building (and let's face it, playing with!!!) Lego makes me happy and spending £50 on a Lego set is far preferable to getting so drunk that I don't remember anything, which I've done plenty of times! The worst I get is being called "an utter child" but in a bizarre way it makes me proud to be!
