Thanks for the comments everyone :) Thanks. Yeah, my plan was to make it slightly larger but I ran out of bricks in the set :P I originally wanted to have more of the ruined gate visible as well, but there just weren't enough dark tan bricks to use.

Yeah sorry, it's the best the iPhone can do :) I need to get a camera!

Hi all, Just got the Quest Against Time set and built this MOC using the pieces -- with the exception of the treasure, of course :) The light that comes with the set worked out pretty well. Enjoy!

Just had a great experience with The Bricks You Want. Super fast turn-around on invoice and shipping, and even refunded some of my money when the shipping turned out to be less than expected. I am really thrilled with that kind of service!

So that's where all the cannons on BL went!! *shakes fist* Only kidding :) looking great! I especially like your plans for the crows nests on the masts... that's a big shortcoming of the Imperial Flagship set in my opinion.

The bed in the captain's cabin looks great. I love details like that. For me, the cabin is one of the most exciting parts in any pirate ship :P Your latest supports on the back of the upper cabin are a good improvement.

Wow, interior of the cabin looks great. That spiral staircase down is awesome. Those piano keys are way better than the ones in the Imperial Flagship... I have no idea why they didn't do it that way! I agree with some of the other posters -- make the cabin windows sloped!!

Nice work, especially considering the limited amount of space inside the ship. The cabin fits very well!

When I first saw the title, I thought you might've created Greg Capullo's "The Creech"... Hah, nonetheless, great figure :) I actually like the hands the best... they really have that dramatic comic-book flexing pose going on. It really adds an additional point of interest to the pose.

Wow, I was blown away by all of the accurate detail before I even scrolled down and saw all of the engineering going on underneath... Holy cow. Combining both into the same package is an amazing achievement.

Great job on the MOC! Man I hate that huge light dentists use. It's too bright and always makes my eyes tear up...

Hah that awesome. Really nice job on the shirt!

[Review] 7930 Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship
moc2 replied to 501st Commando's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Great review. I agree, the minifigs are great! Somehow, that color green really doesn't do it for me, even if it is accurate... -
Cool. Anyone ever read those Dragonlance books? Those figs reminded me of that series :)

2nd shot is better. I love minimalist MOCs that make thoughtful use of every brick... nice job :)

Awesome, I love forest scenes. Forestmen were some of my all-time favorite sets. Great job on the bow shop too.

I got this set for myself for Christmas :) Well worth it! It was a fantastic build and the ship looks amazing. I never got a Black Seas Barracuda as a kid but I think this has sated my desire for a giant ship. Well, I take that back... now I want to buy Brickbeard's Bounty as well! The ship has inspired me to make some modifications to it and I've already ordered some parts off of BrickLink to start customizing. Great set.

Let's see some pictures! :)

They're ok. I really wish they emphasized more of an Aztec theme -- you know, buried stone temples in a jungle being discovered by Conquistadors. That sort of thing. At least, that's what I always pictured in my head when playing with the sets. That one totem-like structure off to the side on the Enchanted Island really got my imagination going. I wanted to see more buildings and structures like that, and more covered in jungle :)

Best sets to buy to build a MOC-able collection?
moc2 replied to moc2's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thanks for all the advice everyone :) I just ordered Medieval Market Village and Quest Against Time based on your suggestions! -
I like the layers of earth exposed underneath the grass on the side. Good job

Hi all, I loved LEGOs as a kid and just recently bought the Imperial Flagship on a whim -- and I'm glad I did! Now I've been inspired by many of the MOCs I've seen on this site and want to start growing my collection to be able to create my own. I really like the fantasy diorama-style MOCs that combine water, cliffs/rocks, foliage, structures, and so on. You know the ones I'm talking about! My question is: What are some solid sets I should buy in order to grow my collection to create some Fantasy/Castle/Pirate hybrid MOCs? What are the best pieces-for-your-buck sets? My next purchase will be the Medieval Village as it looks chalk full of great pieces, and just plain cool. Beyond that, I'm not sure where to look. I'd like to grow a small collection by buying sets instead of individual pieces off BrickLink as I don't really know what's available, or even what I want. I just want a large pile of pieces to start experimenting with!
