Coming from AFOLs so talented, it's very flattering! I assume they wanted to let the builders use their imagination... I actually named my Lego town "Christiansenburg" , As soon as my man and I are moving to a larger place, big enough so we can dedicate an entire room to our Lego town and trains, I'll also put numbers to the buildings and names to the streets. We do have a dream: make a section on my website where we can show the "history" of the town, the minifigs building the town from scratch, starting with a small farm, then progressing towards a whole village, then a thriving town, with some of the older building falling into disrepair.... Listen to me, dreaming out loud, we're far from that right now! I hope mine inspires you to make your own now. For the roof color, I tried black, but to me it looks sooooooooooooo much better in dark grey, and I'm planning other buildings with dark grey roof, so the MOD CC will blend in just right... Thank you for your contribution, every one!

As requested, I'm posting a few more pictures:

I actually decided on the dark grey roof tiles because the dark red would have clashed with the bright red awning, and black tiles are already on quite a lot of my modular buildings.

It is indeed lovely, the kind of set that would make me want to add a port to my town! Very, very good job, a pleasant balance between realism and Lego standard! and a round of applause!

B-OM-20A I had recreated a Cafe Corner close to the original one last winter, thanks to a few orders to Bricklink, but I wasn't happy with the interior, so I spruced it up and added a 16x32 baseplate upon which I built a true hotel lobby, but I tried to keep it true to the rest of the CC. I also printed stickers and cut out an apron for my waitress in a useless Harry Potter cape. All of it can be seen there; but I'm posting a few pictures here as well to give you a sample of what it looks like: Purists might grimace at all the liberties I took, But I hope others will like it.

Oh, I just noticed thic topic came up again, thanks for noticing it and bringing it back from oblivion. I won't be entering this creation for the Modular Madness Contest, I'm curently working on a whole new set of projects for my town, that will have to wait till I get some new pieces from the Lego store in Windsor in July. Meanwhile, I'm about to post some pictures of my MOD Cafe Corner, should be on line tonight.

I've started to make decals for my little townies. I already put the firsts I made on my Flickr Album. Feel free to use them if you like them... I'll be going back to work tomorrow, and I won't have much time to work on my Lego town till Easter break, but I will need to make more for the various businesses I've planed. Stay tuned!

Great, great work, Cunctator! That's exactly the kind of city I hope to achieve in the end, And I must warn you, I'll probably steal more than a few design ideas from your buildings! Keep brickin' on!

  ... X 10∞! Thank you all for the compliments. That's what my man said when I showed him the house. Once I'm done with my Cafe corner MOD, I'll fix this little problem. I have larger cars, but this was one of those which fitted the best. I'm keeping the smaller cars, like the Smarts, for the town houses, while the bigger cars are going to the suburbian residences. I'm going to use this design for my bookstore as well, so I'll take a few more photos as I build, and not just of the finished work, if you want. Welcome, then! I didn't use any of them, just had my pet shop notice close by for the stairs' design, and a few mental pictures of the houses of my hometown for inspiration. But watch out for my next creations, I will try and take pictures of the building process. That was my point exactly when I was planning this one (and more to come, but later, money and room to expose are getting tight) Thank you for that. I still can't believe I made it the 3rd place . I can't wait to meet my job counselor, and tell her that I finally found something I'm good at: building with Lego!

I don't mind at all, quite the contrary, I'm flattered! I'm not at all into micro-scale building, so I don't have a clue about the rights and wrongs in it, but I can see that it's very nice looking anyway!
-
B-RM-07B I've wanted to build a modular town house to fit in with The Pet shop ones, but a bit smaller to allow for the balcony of Market street. Here's the result, Let me know what you think. Even negative critics are welcome! With my Market Street MOD: More pictures here

Does anyone have trouble seeing the video? I can't watch it, they say it's private.

A market place would be nice, too, with stands selling fish, meat, flowers, veggies and fruit. A park sounds great, but you can also have a park, and a place with an nice looking pavement pattern, a monument in its middle and a few souvenir sellers. The difficulty now, will be to choose from all these ideas!

Oh My!!! I can't believe I actually won something! A big hug to all the people who voted for me, a round of applause to all the contestants, and a standing ovation to the winners, Dix and Tatertots, who really deserve the honnor. A special mention to Cecilie : I just love that Chocolate shop, wish I had put more points in it ...

WOW! I never expected so many positive reviews! Thank you folks About the colour.... at first I intended to do the first floor in dark red, but I didn't have enough pieces then, so I went the whole hog in tan. Though I think now I could do it, I have a bigger amount of dark red... I'll see what I can do during the winter break. Coming soon also, a CC MOD, with a 16-stud-wide hotel checking desk add-on! Let's keep brickin' on!

B-RM-5A A few month ago I built this one following the global Market Street design, I didn't have the right colors, and I'd have had to order quite a lot of expensive bricks at BL, money I'd rather put in other interesting items. So here it is: More Pictures here So, what do you think?

Here are my votes: 13. Chocolate Shop by Cecilie - 1 pt 16. Winter Sports Spore by soundwave_sw - 1 pt 29. The Bookshop by Toltomeja - 1 pt 26. Wedding Chapel by lakers88 - 1 pt 18. Luigi's Pizzeria by Yatkuu - 1 pt Very hard to choose, again, the competition is quite fierce! Well done, and a great display of everybody's talent and imagination!

Hello, I did build the CC using Bricklink. Actually, it's more a MOD than the real thing. I switched a few colors (no dark blue bricks, no dark red slopes). I first looked what I had in my drawers, and was surprised that I had most of them, save the dark blue and red pieces. So in the end, it only cost me around 20€ in BL-ordered stuff. In comparison, building the Carrousel almost from scratch (I had to order almost all the technic pieces, the 8 cloth parts and the music box) cost me around 180€... And I made a tan MOD of the main building of market street...

Thank you all! I've been working on a modular bookstore, and I had this bay window in mind, and suddenly, yesterday, I just took it out, and started on the store, for the contest. Just like that... I've tried other things for the winter village, but either it was something already done, or I didn't have the right pieces. Redhead, for the ladder, I have no idea what is legal and what is not, so I can't answer you. All I can say is that I needed a way for the minifigs to go up to the storage romm but stairs were too space-consuming, and a classic ladder... too simple. By doing it that way, it has a somewhat "metallic service stairs" look, don't you think?

B-OV-24D So here it is. I've toyed with the idea for weeks... only to start building on earnest yesterday. I hope you'll like it!

Thanks Mr Benn, actually, since I started my modular town recently, I don't have enough experience with advanced building techniques to create some totally on my own, so I made a list with all the buildings I want to do, and a few drawings, I bought all the modulars save Cafe Corner and Market Street, though I managed to build similar-looking buildings. I hope to do so. I'll be working on my bakery next, and my Mate and I will start the Train Station : let's say that I take care of lodging and services, and he manages transportations and industry, but since I'm the more experienced with the building, I'll decide on the design of the train station. We plan: - a pub - a bank - a post office - a town hall - a church - at least one school - a hospital - a baker's - a market place with fish counter's, florist, a rotisserie, and fruit and veggies seller - a park - a bookstore - a couple of restaurant (chinese and italian) - a hairdressing salon - an ice-cream parlor - a newspaper stand and a residential area, etc... Lots of work in the offing!!!

Hi all, I've been working on a modular pharmacy for a while now. I admit it, I shamelessly copied from the Green Grocer, and for the design of the pharmacy itself, I copied from Domino39's great creation ("Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's..." ) See the pictures on Flickr I had a little fun with the medical clinic part: I put two of my favorite TV doctors' minifig alter egos, Drs House and Cuddy . I hope you will like it!

I can't possibly compete with the others', but I sure had fun trying! Also, I tried to stay true to the previous Creator Houses Sets, while trying to add some liveliness, as required for the contest. More viewshere Hope you'll like it!
