  1. Hi there, I'm a New Zealander and still relatively new to these forums, signed up several months ago. I've played with lego since I was a kid, probably about 3 or 4 years old. Played with it till about 12 or so and then I moved on to other things. Several months ago, now at 21 years, I received a flier advertising lego at steep discounts. Thought, what the heck - for nostalgia's sake, and went and bought several sets including Brickbeard's bounty for about $30 NZ ($20ish US) Well I haven't stopped buying and have now dropped probably about $500 NZ on new lego, mostly on city sets. The problem I have is that I want to get into building MOCs as I find the normal lego city sets and such too simple and basic to keep me interested for a long time. The only thing stopping me from making nice MOCs is that I have no idea how to keep track of what piece belongs to what set. I want to know this because I want to be able to rebuild these sets sometime in the future (hopefully with my kids :)) and the fact that bulk legos resale value drops a whole lot. So I'm wondering, is there any way to keep track of this? cheers tldr: Want to make MOCs but want to keep track of what pieces belong to each set - if possible, how?
  2. If anybody wants the big $180 pop set I can let one go for $130 (this is for a new one).
  3. I got this for $48 a month or so ago. FANTASTIC value set. Four minifigs for $48! Helicopter is huge too. Highly recommend.
  4. Wait, all lego sets have 20% off. Does this mean that if you buy 2 or more you get another 20% off? No discount seems to be added on if I have 2 or more city sets in my cart.
  5. Do you have a good site to get them from? I had a look on ebay for the large sets like the emporium but the shipping was like $50 USD
  6. Yeah I managed to get 5 but it was mostly due to sheer luck. Westcity warehouse had 20 in the morning, at 10am but when I came in they told me they had none. I had a look around anyway and because I was unfamiliar with the warehouse I missed the lego section. I was tracking back and on the bottom of a shelf I noticed 4 stray Brickbeard sets - I instantly piled them into my trolley with a grin on my face I reserved 3 in another warehouse but in the end they only put one behind the counter (which I picked up) Personally I wanted to pick up about 10 but considering how fast they flew out of the shops I am not too disappointed with 5. I would tend to agree with this. I saw two brickbeard sets in the back of the westcity warehouse which I think were reserved for staff. The person behind the counter blatantly lied to me, telling me that there were none left in the store. There was/is a few sets in the $60 and $70 range - several were snapped up pretty quick. I'd suggest if you want one of these buy them off TM now while there is still a glut in the market. These will go for over $150 new within 6 months because they are an end of the line product - not just this model but the pirate theme too - and everybody knows lego just gains value through time :) Here is several cheap sets on TM: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Toys-models/Lego-building-toys/Lego/Sets/auction-329235228.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/Toys-models/Lego-building-toys/Lego/Sets/auction-329251289.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/Toys-models/Lego-building-toys/Lego/Sets/auction-329377804.htm Also those 4 minifigure city sets were $5 today too - I grabbed one for myself.
  7. The one for $30 is normally the biggest (until 2010) ship size available. The $300 imperial ship is a send-off gift from the lego team for the pirate theme (won't be produced anymore).
  8. Bit late. I wouldn't call it a small ship, its a $170 RRP set.
  9. Its the warehouse in NZ. I think they ship to Australia as well. edit: Online store just sold out
  10. The Warehouse is having a bit of a "special" I cleaned out West Auckland and only got 5 :( Also the 4 city minifigure set is $5
  11. Get it before they run out - Looked like they didn't have a whole lot of stock, maybe 4 - 5 boxes of each set. (Henderson)
  12. I may have just went to toyworld and bought every single PoP set
  13. All prince of Persia sets about 60% off in Toyworld 7573 $79 7571 $29 7570 $19
  14. I like themes like castle, city and pirates (no more after this year :'() and western which appeared in 1996.
  15. I'm not particularly into trains but I'm considering buying a lego one. Just that they are so expensive >_< Would you recommend any?
  16. grabbed it of TM, $1 reserve and it just didn't go up. $50 at kmart? wow! Any way to get informed on when they have such a special before they sell out? Oh and hey epic_red!
  17. Just grabbed 7632 : Crawler Crane new for $53
  18. There are some prices below RRP for lego on fishpond but overall its horribly overpriced. $350 for Brickbeard's bounty holy crap!
  19. I noticed that the medieval one was really good value per piece ($99 US for 1600 pieces if almost unheard of) - went onto trademe and noticed that they go for $300 - robbery! I'm considering importing a set from the US. Even with ridiculous shipping charges it'd still be over $100 cheaper.
  20. I've seen some of the modular buildings sets. They look fantastic but are really expensive. If only they had some smaller ones. I might consider importing from the US as the dollar is so strong now. Shipping must be really expensive though.
  21. Says 4 - 12 on the box ;D Good to hear it comes out twice a year - I need to get my fix I'm considering getting that $300 ship - think its called the Imperial Flagship. A little on the expensive side but looks fantastic.
  22. Now I feel really old at 21 >_< $10 to $20 lower sounds like a lot less if you factor in the small - medium sets, might have to have a look - are they having a sale at the moment? Also anybody know when new lego sets come out for the year? I'm wanting to grab a police station and I know there is one coming out soon
  23. Hi Roncanator, Thanks for the welcome. I'm an Aucklander. Haven't been to Toyworld or Kmart but have to the Warehouse and Farmers of which the latter has a better range. How much under RRP does Kmart have lego? So far I've bought these sets in the last couple of weeks: 7631 (City - Dump truck - 1 minifig) 7639 (City - Campervan that opens - 2 minifigs) 7948 (Kingdoms - Medium size castle tower with catapult - 3 minifigs) 3180 (City - Petrol truck with small station - 1 minifig) 7950 (Kingdoms - Small catapult - 2 minifigs) 7241 (City - Small fire car - 1 minifig) 7630 (City - Digger - 1 minifig) 7236 (City - Police Car - 1 minifig) 6243 (Pirates - Large pirate ship - 7 minifigs) 3222 (City - Helicopter and Limo - 4 minifigs) Usual price of all was $455 I got them for $305 all up. Trying to find more pirates sets to no avail - want to buy the soldiers fort set. Also, how old is everyone here? I feel quite embarrassed going around the kids section - any tips? :P
  24. Hi everyone, new to the forums. I've recently turned into a kid again and have gone nuts with Lego - nearly $400 worth bought in a couple of weeks. Can anyone tell me what sort of range Kmart/Farmers/Toyworld have in comparison to the Warehouse? The warehouse range seemed pretty average but the 20% of all lego was good. Anyone know any good specials for labour day? Especially Pirate/Castle/City sets.
