  1. So I just saw this that someone made: It's an good part but I feel it's missing something. It needs a gear housing attached to either side of it. It just looks like that hole is there to run an axle through for some motorized function. You know what I mean? No maybe not. Anyway, being back here is cool and I love what you've done recently.
  2. It's not that I was disgusted just that I'd heard so many reasons not to so I did it I just started agreeing.
  3. I have a gear generator these gears do mesh and work. And it's a mix of reasons. I don't think I can afford a set that big if I'm only using some parts, I want this specific version, I like the color options on Shapeways etc. But the amount of debating about whether or not I should get this part made is going to put me off getting the part. So maybe I'll just stick with designing custom droid parts.
  4. That's more like it. and Kris, using the buckets as gears creates a jolting staggered motion which serves my purposes nicely.
  5. Where do you even get plastic sheet? If It's broken up so that the piece is one bucket then that's affordable but then there'd be no way to attach it to the bar. Resolve that problem for me and I'll just do that ok?
  6. Yeah I agree with that. I'll have to discuss it with Efferman and see what the best options are.
  7. Well, MRP, that would be because I can't afford that set. I like your idea for the individual gear/buckets I just can't get the other parts to make it work.
  8. Hey Efferman, would it be possible to get these two gears made for Technic with the larger one as like a digger wheel with gear teeth on the back of each bucket.
  9. can these files be opened in say, 3DSMax for modification?
  10. I was looking at some of the lego creatures that only appear in games and thought "hey I could make that. I just need the right parts to make the new parts out of." And those parts are these parts:
  11. It just happens that I do. Meet Bob, the Battledroid who decided to be refited as a protocol droid and P3T3 the astromech who wanted to be a battle droid. I did my best drawing lego part versions on the side but if you don't think they'd work, like they'd break apart or something, then I guess it wasn't meant to be.
  12. I've actually made most of the parts I want myself I've just got two heads from droid characters I invented which are being difficult when I try to model them.
  13. Can you do parts for Minifig Battledroids?
  14. So I took your advice on board and tried several reiterations of the train before deciding to copy the door from the official Lego ferry boat set. The sides might looks a little ugly. I was trying to slightly emulate the bulky sides of the train in StarWars Jedi Academy and give it a more scifi feel. I was going to put the cabin on one side as you can see in previous pictures but changed my mind. I am still going to reference the cabins from construction vehicles because I feel that will also help the scifi look. Oh also. I've been browsing Ebay and Bricklink on and off thinking about starting on the physical attempt at this vehicle. I just don't have anywhere to put it.
  15. Now that's an idea. It doesn't need to connect to multiple lines though because I'm going to have smaller trains going to any branching off destinations.
  16. That is almost exactly what I'm trying to do. The scene I'm picturing is a spaceport at one end of the track; spaceships land, people cargo and terrestrial vehicles are unloaded from the spaceships and loaded onto the train which moves them to the base or city or whatever is at the other end on that particular planet. I was trying to design a custom large switchboard piece but I'm not really going to be using one anyway. I think I will make that redesign because then there would only be two different designs to worry about, an end and a middle. Thank you.
  17. Thanks everyone for the advice. I redid the vehicle transport and it may now be able to carry four possibly. I intend to build it physically eventually but I'll have to buy some parts to do that and don't have a lot of cash for throwing around. There'll be photos of the physical version when I start building it though. anyway here's the latest screenshot. The other side of the engine is going to have a big scifi looking engine on it and I'm currently mucking about with designing that.
  18. ah, thank you, I was wondering about that. How much space would you recommend? progress picture:
  19. Yeah I figured I'd have to do that. I wanted the car to be able to just drive onto the train from the platform but It looks like that approach doesn't work.
  20. Still it must be good to know that one of your parts has multiple uses right?
  21. Hmm... which version of the outrigger part do you think would look better on the sides of a tank mounted MAC gun as a loading and firing effect?
  22. Well that's lovely of you to say. I mean that it only fits one car if any. To be practical it would need to fit more than that.
  23. Hello again lego community. So I was messing around building up from Dr Spock's design, I'm a little frustrated with the engine because I'm trying for an asymmetrical design there and cant think what to do with the other side but then there was an actually problem when I came to the vehicle car: As you can see the way I've built is hardly gives enough room for one car let alone multiple which means the design is horridly inefficient. How should I fix this? should I make it longer or wider or is there another solution I haven't thought of?
