  1. Stunning police station and car. Really clever design work. Personally I also find the car a bit big for the figures and station, but I understand this is subjective. It is also a dilemma frequently encountered with lego. As a child with classic town, the idea of one person per vehicle did not trouble one and the open backed houses made for easy playability. Over the years lego has generally become more 'realistic' in terms of vehicles etc., except that the majority still only carry one person. As a fire fan this is a problem when one wants to convey an appropriate number of firefighters to an incident but does not want a plethora of vehicles there which cannot be accommodated in the fire station, MOC station or otherwise. I managed to build a four seater fire engine a few years back, not particularly good on detail but at least I could fit it into a fire station. I have since given up and reverted to variations of kits. I realise the most recent fire station has a two seater engine.
  2. The tram is amazing. Reminds me of the old tram I used to take to work when I lived in Stuttgart, from Russiche Kirche to Stadtmitte. Now replaced with a large Strassenbahn light railway train. Well done.
  3. Makes me think of the film Field of Dreams. Build it and they will come.....
  4. Great little story and super rescue truck. What are the firefighters wearing around their trousers? Must have missed that part along the way.
  5. Mine was the fire station, 374, as pictured above. Hours of fun but sadly the clock sticker and the appliance bay numbers, plus the book sticker in the office have all disappeared. I will rebuild it soon though and keep it on display out the way of the children. Also had the snack bar as shown above. (Pictures not re-attached as they feature above in other posts).
  6. That's superb! Well done.
  7. The Police station looks quite nice. I very much like the dog van. I am less impressed with the baseball cap police man, that would not last long in my collection as I prefer a more formal officer. Maybe I am simply old fashioned. I have never really understood the large police lorry so am unlikely to get this version of it either. My eldest son, however, is desperate for it so I will have to buy him off with a different set. Which brings us back to the police station.
  8. Looks okay to me, like a Range Rover, all be it a Drug Dealer's. If there is any way to shorten it by a stud or two it may look more like you want it. Mark.
  9. Your 08 is a wonderful moc. Excellent work.
  10. Australia only, not NZ: BIG W this week are doing the current fire station for $94, the previous best price I had seen was $111 in Toys R Us. They are also offering various discounts ranging from $5 to $32 off of Harry Potter products and other fire kits. The sale officially starts tomorrow but in Karingal today the Fire station was already at $94. I cannot believe I did not buy it, if only for MOC parts, but we do have a lot of fire parts already. I would have brought the HP train at $89, even if just to use on the train layout rather than specifically as the Hogwarts Express but they did not have any. It seems I missed a treat with the Police station going for $88 last week. Worth keeping an eye on their catalogue each week.
  11. Lego winter toy shop and bakery for me. Lego advent calendars for my sons. Lego Cargo Train (2011) & Garage for the boys as Xmas presents. Will shortly purchase the holiday train via Brick Link.
  12. Thank you for the messages and greetings. My themes of interest are Town/City & Train predominantly. I suspect we would also get interested in Pirates as well if it wasn't for the fact that my wife already fully equipped the kids with Playmobil Pirates and we cannot justify repeating a collection. Thanks also for the Australian related links. Mark.
  13. Great, thanks for the prompt replies. I am very grateful. Mark.
  14. Hi, I am Mark an AFOL but with two sons who are very enthusiastic about their lego too. Look forward to joining and contributing to this community.
  15. Hi, I am contemplating purchasing the Holiday Train (10173) via Bricklink. My understanding is that there is no track included with the set, so I am wondering whether the train gauge would fit on the current RC train track as this is all we have at home. I realise that it would not be powered in those circumstances but that is not an issue. I just want to know that we could put it on some track in the layout. Thanks, Mark.
