Buying LEGO from other countries on-line stores
chrism replied to Siegfried's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Barnes and Noble have 30 per cent off some of last year's Star Wars Lego and other sets. Looks like they ship to Australia. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/Building-Toys-Lego-Toys/379003311 -

Yes, Helms Deep turned up last week. In a box, within a sack! -
... A further thought: I think the parrot mold could be used to make a passable bird of prey, if made in the right colours (eg brown body, white head, yellow painted beak for an eagle). Also, if the parrot mold had a little hole in the top of the head, and again was made in the right colours, you could insert a plume (as in a knight's helmet) to make a cockatoo. For example, white body, grey painted beak, and yellow three-feathered plume for a sulphur-crested cockatoo. Splendid!

For newbies, that thread is here - and well worth keeping on eye on. -
1. Big cat (different colours and prints for lions, tigers, leopards, pumas, etc) 2. Boar 3. Deer (with detachable antlers, per cow horns) 4. Kangaroo 5. Koala (with vertical clip). Forgive the Australian bias. (And picture it: your spawling modern City metropolis, overrun with hundreds of koalas, in trees, on lamp posts, on TV antennae...)

Outer Rim Trading Co has discounts on Cars, some Superheroes, some Star Wars and some others - and, for the next couple of days, a 'State of Origin' free-shipping deal to New South Wales. Makes for some decent local deals. -

I was prepared for the worst, but have just checked and found that B&N have confirmed that both my orders (Helm's Deep and Weathertop) have shipped today. Thanks for the heads up, eurobricks. -

Some good prices there on the Hillside House ($60) and Lighthouse ($42), and they're still available. -

I understand the Myer stocktake sale 'preview' on 5 June has 25 per cent off toys. -

Any suggestions as to the cheapest way of getting the 10218 Pet Shop? (I've gotten some nice bargains buying from other countries' on-line stores - thanks to this thread - but never had any luck with the big modular sets.) Thanks very much -

Some good clearance sales at Kmart: - 4643 power boat and transporter $19 - Duplo police station and doctor's clinic, $39 each. - Alien Conquest sets looked cheap too. -

Just a minute ago I ordered one from B&N for $A55 (incl shipping). (Past orders have turned up in good condition and in a reasonable time.) -

Outer Rim Trading Co has some good discounts at the moment on Pirates of the Caribbean (25-35 per cent off), Cars (20-40 per cent off) and Duplo Cars (20-50 per cent off). (And I might add, I like the way ORTC does business: easy-to-use website, no BS pricing, and ships straight away. Recommended.) -

You'd think. But, characteristically for big Australian retail, the Target I went to had the new stock - including series 5 minifigs - still packed on a pallet at the end of an aisle. -

Last week I took delivery of a set I'd ordered three weeks or so previously. I also placed an order and BN tells me its on its way. (By the way - standard shipping in each case, and the set that has been delivered turned up in perfect condition.) I tried using the Kid's Club 30% off coupon, to no avail. It seems this won't work for Lego purchases at all. -

I see Fishpond's website is experiencing a bout of honest pricing. For example, the wizard impulse set is listed as '$5.99 $17.99' Refreshing! -

If there is more than one price displayed for an item, you are entitled to pay the lower price. If the retailer gives you any trouble, refer them to schedule 3, cl 164 of the Australian Consumer Law, and the $5 000 penalty provided thereunder. This will not help the purchaser who bought the item prior to it being discounted. cheers chrism -

Not so long ago I saw a couple of them at Kmart Bateman's Bay - maybe a little closer to you? cheers chrism -

I agree it is always a good idea to check fishpond's prices against other retailers - see here for an example. On that comparison, the prices for Hagrid's Hut and The Burrow seem quite OK, especially as shipping is free. You can get very good bargains at fishpond (I got a Venator for $90 there recently), but their regular prices do move around a bit, and some are quite over the top, so best to check. -

I see fishpond.com.au has the Harry Potter sets for sale, at small discounts, to ship in '8-15 days'. -

About David Jones - when I was there the other day, it was '30 per cent off a great range of Lego', and 20 per cent off full price Lego. The only thing I saw at 30 per cent off was the City crane. It seemed to me that DJs had Plo Koon's fighter for $40 full price, and General Grevious's ship for $80 full price, so the 20 per cent discount on those prices would be quite good. -

While looking for minifigs at Target Leichhardt (Sydney), I spotted Cad Bane's speeder on the shelves... $90 for a big box of not much. cheers
