Is there any way to download the latest update as a zip file rather than an installer?

Just go to GitHub and look for the latest release to download as a ZIP File, there are a few minor issues when I installed it around last week (missing Decorations/UV Map Images and seven Bricks glitching slightly but no missing Bricks) but I have already reported these issues from the Update Website Contact Form, the response was they will be looked into and fixed in an upcoming update.

Hello, everyone. Please let me know if this is the wrong place to post this. I recently got a new computer and have COMPLETELY forgotten how to do this lol. Could somebody tell me which version of LDD I need and what the latest update pack for it is? Thanks so much!

Welcome, next time post in the partner Topic here. Since November 2025, there are now new comprehensive working methods to install LDD from scratch, the following links should help.

    1. Custom LDD Updates are now managed directly on https://www.customlddupdates.com/, so check back often for new releases. Some of us do still post in the partner Topic, so check that too, but these days issues and errors are usually reported directly to the author via the Website’s Contact Form.

    2. This explains the latest LDD Installer in detail: https://www.customlddupdates.com/getting-started.

    3. Once the basic LDD is installed, check out the Custom LDD Updates at: https://github.com/stephan3321/LDD-custom-update-releases/releases. It is recommended to first install “Baseline update until 20251130 v1.1” and “Stickers”, once complete also install the latest “20260510 v1.0”.

The update is now correct again. There were two issues with it:

    1. The Preferences.ini file was being overwritten with my personal one, overwriting your visible Palettes and settings.

    2. There was a folder layer missing, causing an error in the folder structure.

Both these errors are now fixed.

Regarding the slower download speed: both update versions (complete and 20251130) download within 2 minutes on my computer. So it could be due to you internet speed. You can actually still choose to manually download the zip files. Just choose the option "Let me choose" from the installer. That asks for a location on your computer to download the zip files to. Then you can decide for yourself which parts to add.

If you only want the zip files, you can manually download them from my GitHub Releases: https://github.com/stephan3321/LDD-custom-update-releases/releases.

Best is indeed to send me a dm here because I get an e-mail notification of it. Or contact me through CustomLDDUpdates.com.

I've wanted to check this topic every now and then, but just didn't manage to do so :pir-murder:.

Just installed the latest Custom LDD Update using the latest “20251130_v1.0.zip” Folder and discovered several small issues. First, after opening the “251130.lxf” a number of Bricks and Decorations are missing as shown below, LDD also marked some Bricks as Removed.

    251130%20Missing%20Content.png

Next, some of the Sticker Decorations under the Optional “Stickers Rar.rar” Folder are now Misplaced due to Updated UV Maps in this Custom Update, the relevant Bricks for these Decorations at least include 63864, 5091, 5092 and 65676, there might be others too since this Folder remains unchanged in the past few Custom LDD Updates.

Lastly, were the contents of the previous “20250822 v1.0 - fix.rar” Dropbox Download been incorporated into any latest Custom LDD Update Releases, since the old “79393_1.png” seems to be the version supplied in “20251130_v1.0.zip” instead of the new one from “20250822 v1.0 - fix.rar”, thanks.

  4. How To Manage And Use LDD Colours

This Post will introduce everything Colour-related in LDD on Windows (latest 10/11), including details of Programme Files and how to add Custom Colours into LDD, hope that this will be useful for all and thanks for stopping by.

There are three main Colour Palettes for each Mode in LDD plus a Colour Selector Palette in LDD Extended under the “Paint Tool (B)”, all changes are usually only for the LDD Extended Colour Palette (identical to the Colour Selector Palette). Go to “C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\db” to find “Materials.xml” and “CurrentMaterials.xml”, both can be opened using any Text Editor.

“Materials.xml” is the backbone File for all LDD Colours, where each Colour has its “Material ID”, “RGBA” Values and “Material Type” listed using the following format (excluding the Blank Spaces in front): “<Material MatID="WWW" Red="XXX" Green="YYY" Blue="ZZZ" Alpha="255 or 150" MaterialType="shinyPlastic or shinySteel"/>”. “Material MatID” is the official TLG Colour ID with 1-3 Dights, “Red”, “Green” and “Blue” are the “RGB” Colour Values always between 0-255, “Alpha” is the Transparency Value set as either “255” for all Solid Colours and “150” for all Colours with Transparency, “MaterialType” defines the type of Colour Material either “shinyPlastic” or “shinySteel”.

“CurrentMaterials.xml” defines the Number of current Colours in LDD actively used by TLG, categorised into “Solid”, “Transparent” and “Metallic”. The remaining ones are considered retired by TLG and placed under “Legacy” (first found in the “MaterialSelector.xml” File introduced below), with the following format used (excluding the Blank Spaces in front): “<Material MatID="XXX" />”. “Material MatID” is again the official TLG Colour ID with 1-3 Digits.

Go to “C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\Palettes\LDDExtended” to find “MaterialSelector.xml” (also opened with any Text Editor), which further defines how Colours are shown in LDD Extended, as listed using the following format (excluding the Blank Spaces in front): “<Material id="XXX"/>”. Once again, “Material id” is the official TLG Colour ID with 1-3 Digits while some entries hide their Colour Names at the end after two Regular Spaces as follows: “<Material id ="423"/>  <!-- Umber Brown -->”.

Go to “C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\db” and locate the “MaterialNames” Folder, where the “localizedStrings.loc” File under the “EN” Folder contains all English LDD Colour Names, while the “localizedStrings.loc” File under the “DE” Folder contains all German LDD Colour Names. Both Files should be opened with the programme “Notepad++” (for more information and to download, visit: https://notepad-plus-plus.org/), since it can successfully insert the “NULL” Character used in “.loc” Files (thus no regular Spaces are used except within Colour Names). Each Text starts with the Number “2”, then “NULL”/“MaterialXXX”/“NULL”/“Colour Name”/“NULL”/“MaterialXXX”/“NULL”/“Colour Name”/“NULL”/etc. (always ending with a “NULL” Character), where “XXX” is again the official TLG Colour ID with 1-3 Digits, additional Naming Rules for both Languages are listed below.

    Spoiler

For the English version: always Abbreviate “Transparent” to “Tr.” [except for the original “40 Transparent”, “307 Transparent (Label)” and any “Transparency”], “Fluorescent” to “Fluore.” and “Phosphorescent” to “Phosph.”, do not Capitalise the “w” of “with” and the “f” of “for”, “Glitter” must always have “with” in front except for “327 Glitter 2%”, avoid Brackets, for any “Multicombination” always use “W.Multicombination [XXX Colour Name & XXX Colour Name]” where “W” is currently a Single Digit between “1-6” and “XXX Colour Name” must be identical to each corresponding Colour Entry.

For the German version: also Abbreviate the same three Words as the English version, “Rötlich”=“Reddish”, “Gelblich”=“Yellowish”, “Bläulich”=“Bluish”, “Dunkel”=“Dark”, “Helles”=“Light”, “Klares”=“Bright”, “Kalte”=“Cool”, “Flammen”=“Flame”, “Transparenz”=“Transparency”, “mit”=“with” (no Capital “m”), “für”=“for” (no Capital “f”), minimise Hyphens and Brackets except when also present in the English version, for any “Mehrfachkombination” always use “W.Mehrfachkombination [XXX Colour Name & XXX Colour Name]” with the same format as the English version.

The initial pair of Colour Name Files provided by TLG were not perfect, with missing entries on both Sides and a few incorrectly translated German Names. Since the release of Custom LDD Updates, both Files have also been updated each time new Colours were added. The most up-to-date LDD Colour Files for the July 2025 Custom LDD Update can be downloaded from Dropbox here, also including a slightly modified version of the “Materials.xml” and “MaterialSelector.xml” Files plus a Change Log File. Simply Download the ZIP Folder and extract all content after opening the “File Properties” of the ZIP Folder and unblock it before use, since Windows might treat Files as harmful ones from other Computers once modified or Downloaded, then directly Replace all relevant local Files. The ZIP Folder is scheduled to be updated soon, after the release of the next Custom LDD Update on November 30, 2025, which will introduce a single new Colour “428 Earth Blue V.3/Blau Erdfarbe V.3” into LDD.

Using the current LDD Extended main Colour Palette Layout, the best location to add Custom Colours in LDD Extended is at the end of the “Solid” section on top, with five available spaces at the end of the last Row. First modify the “Materials.xml” File by typing in new entries (also add at least one Blank Row before to make a new Section) after the current ones using the same formats, then set “Alpha” as “255” or “150” and “MaterialType” as “shinyPlastic” or “shinySteel” accordingly, while the “Material MatID” should be set as a random large Number such as “500” to minimise the chances of it being used by TLG in the future. Once complete, modify the “CurrentMaterials.xml” File by typing in new entries (also add Blank Rows before to make a new Section) after the current ones using the same format, otherwise the new Colours will all be automatically placed into the “Legacy” Category by default and not appear in the LDD Extended Colour Palettes “Solid” section. Next, modify the “MaterialSelector.xml” File by typing in new entries (also add at least one Blank Row before to make a new Section) in the first section before “<!-- Legacy -->” after the current ones using the same format. Finally, add the English and correctly Translated German Names of each new Colour into the corresponding “localizedStrings.loc” File, after the final “NULL” Character at the end of each Text add “MaterialXXX”/“NULL”/“New Colour Name”/“NULL”/etc., always ending with a “NULL” Character.

Each time a new Custom LDD Update containing new Colours is released, the Updated Colour Files included in the ZIP File “LDD Latest Colour Files.zip” on Dropbox will be merged with the new versions provided within the Custom LDD Update Files, most likely the new entries will be checked for mistakes then fixed and manually added to the Dropbox Colour Files before the new version of the Dropbox ZIP File is released. For any personally added Custom Colours, always install the latest Dropbox ZIP File first, then manually add back all Customisations.

    Hello all,

Newbie request: Need help adding colors to the Color Selector palette.

If I am not mistaken, the Colour Selector Palette is the one in LDD Extended under the “Paint Tool (B)”, this should be identical to the main Colour Palette accessed from the base of the LDD Extended Brick Palette, so changes must be made to the main Colour Palette for them to show up in the Colour Selector Palette. I am planning a separate post to explain all Colour-related Menus and Programme Files later, but the following brief information should help for now. Also remember that not all Colours added in each new Custom LDD Update are enabled to avoid both Colour Palettes from becoming too tall, some will simply be part of specific Assemblies and Bricks.

If the goal here is to add a new Custom Colour into LDD, the four Colour-related LDD Programme Files need to be modified, then add the Colour’s English and German Names to each corresponding Colour Name File.

EDIT: If certain Colours are out of bounds, it’s probably due to the “Display Scale” Settings in Windows. The recommended one is usually “150%” then there is “175%”, which are both too large personally. The next best one is “125%” which is quite ideal, but always set as “100%” to fully display all rows of Colours in LDD.

Could we get a UV map for 87079 (Tile 2x4) in the next update?

Here is the SVG Version of the Part 87079 UV Map with bonus Dimensions information listed below.

Front and Back Vertical Surfaces: Original Maximum Dimensions 83.2125 Pixels times 952 Pixels, Compress shorter side to 74 Pixels.

Two Side Vertical Surfaces: Original Maximum Dimensions 83.3 Pixels times 476 Pixels, Compress shorter side to 74 Pixels.

Remember not to change either longer side or crop any shapes, all other Measurements are accurate as listed in the SVG.

Could we get a UV map for 87079 (Tile 2x4) in the next update? I thought a big flat rectangle would be simple to decorate, but for some reason it's throwing me for a loop. I've got two decorations, both exactly 1024x1024 px, but for some reason as far as I can tell they seem to apply themselves differently.

This Element is one of many which now decorates multiple surfaces at once, in this case the main surface on top and the four side vertical surfaces as well, so a regular Maximum Square will no longer work. For now check the “UV Maps” Folder supplied with recent Custom LDD Updates and there should be a rough PNG Image of 87079 in there, I can post the SVG version shortly for better exact Pixel Measurements once my Laptop loads (currently replying on Mobile).

    Hello all,

Sorry for being absent here. I still haven't completely found my way to introduce everybody to these updates. Hence the errors...

Under the “UV Maps” Folder in the Part 5 ZIP File two PNG Images are shown as Plain Black instead of including the actual UV Map Outlines: “79393_1.png” and “98834_1.png”, attempts to manually recreate the Decoration Surface of “79393” using a shape with similar Curved Edges and the only existing Decoration failed as the results did not fill up the entire surface, resulting in border issues (for “98834” the actual Surface is similar to the UV Map Surface thus easier to work out). Perhaps the correctly outlined UV Map Image can explain what I did wrong with the similar shape as there are no external borders to reference, if this Decoration Surface is updated do fix the only existing Decoration too, thanks.

  9. The updated “LDD Latest Colour Files” for the July 2025 Update have just been completed, which can be downloaded from Dropbox here. Basically, the original LDD Colour Files, especially the two Name Files, contain multiple issues such as missing entries on both the English/German sides and mistranslated German Names. Although initial improvements were published officially, the latest version for the May 2024 Update was not, which is why a separate “LDD Latest Colour Files.zip” File is now maintained alongside official Custom LDD Updates. It is highly recommended to download the files and manually replace the local versions with these instead of using those supplied with the latest Custom LDD Update. Please refer to the attached “Change Log” for all details regarding what is fixed, including everything from the previous updated version (details in this old post). Thanks for stopping by and the five changes for this updated version include the following.

English Colour Names: Fixed spelling mistake of new Colour 181 Multikombination” to “Multicombination”.

German Colour Names: Fixed incorrect Colour Numbers used at the back of new Colours 31 and 32, added missing Space before the “&” for Colour 81, Colour 130 now properly translated as “Farbe Mischung” instead of “Farbenmix” from the original English Name “Colour Mix”.

Oh, thank you so much for such detailed answer :)

Regarding to question 2, so i just need to move the original LDD.lxf & LDDExtended.lxf outside the /Palatte and save it somewhere else not on /C right? as its not needed anymore.

About the LDD Instalation : Is there any aditional benefit of installing from LDD 4.3.12 and manually replace its inside with 4.3.11 method (outside of circumventing flash error)? My 2nd machine (old laptop, still in windows 8) wich i installed LDD is somehow still have the flash program required that already installed, so i can just somehow fresh install 4.3.11 without any problem.

Did i need to do above step (install LDD 4.3.12 → replace its inside with 4.3.11) or did my fresh install of LDD 4.3.11 is enough?

Yes for No. 2 just save the files elsewhere like the original “db” folder but do not delete them so this is essentially just backing them up elsewhere, in fact it is highly recommended to do the same for all LDD programme files which are replaced with an unlocked version in case they are needed again.

Regarding the perfect method to install LDD, there are two simple rules to follow.

    1. “LDD Version 4.3.11” will always be the best installer to use (since “LDD Version 4.3.12” removes the Flash Player requirement but has other issues), any old PCs with an existing, unaltered original LDD installation can directly install Custom LDD Updates.

    2. On modern PCs, there are now two options. If Flash Player is not available, always use the perfect method. Alternatively, try to properly install Flash Player, then install “LDD Version 4.3.11” and Custom Updates.

Without the perfect method or installing “LDD Version 4.3.11” directly, LDD is not listed as a properly installed programme in the Settings or Control Panel and the additional Start Menu Folder and Desktop Shortcut are not generated. Minor issues include missing non-essential programme files, LDD now runs directly from the software executable “LDD.exe” and the need to manually associate “.lxf” and “.lxfml” files with “LDD.exe”.

I have not tried the alternative method under No. 2 yet, but there is now a free programme called “Clean Flash Player” on GitHub which aims to bring it back to modern PCs, perhaps “LDD Version 4.3.11” can now be installed directly after also installing “Clean Flash Player”.

Hi, i just installing (well copy&pasting to be exact :)) the lastest Complete LDD update package to the freshly installed LDD 4.3.11 and have a few question :

    1. So after doing the extracting, unziping, etc, i just need to copy everything from the unziped LDD New Parts/LEGO Digital Designer/db to the original /db folder on /C right?

    2. For /Palettes content, did i also need to rename the original LDD.lif & LDDExtended.lif to something else after extraction like the original db.lif?

    3. /2020NewPreColoredParts is copied to the original /Palettes folder right? alongside the updated /LDD & /LDDExtended folder.

    4. What about /Aditional,Optional Palettes? if i want to use it did i need to copy the whole folder as it is to /Palettes or did i need to copy the separate folder inside /Aditional,Optional Palettes to /Palattes? (ex: /10318Concorde, /31210ModernArt, etc → /Palettes).

    5. So far most new part seems to load fine, except Part#: 99114 Mini Upper Part W/15MM Arms, wich missing both upper arm (both --C finger floating). Also, Lego Friends minifig torso and legs seem unable to be snaped together. Is it known bug or did i miss to install some updates or other thing?

    Thx.

Welcome to the forum, here are more details regarding your questions.

    1. This is correct, just remember to manually update the “DecorationMapping.xml” each time an LDD Update is installed as this file can be customised to add custom decorations.

    2. This is correct too, perhaps just save the two files elsewhere without renaming them, they must now be stored in a separate folder as LDD will always attempt to read any “.lxf” files before any extracted folders.

    3. This is correct, it will become a new folder under the “Palettes” folder and is accessed via LDD Mindstorms.

    4. For “Aditional, Optional Palettes”, please copy and paste the separate folders inside to the “Palettes” folder, then access them via LDD Mindstorms too.

    5. It is quite common to find errors for new LDD Updates upon release, just check back the Update Website and this topic for further news.

P.S., there is also a new combined method to fully install LDD on Windows as linked below, which might help solve further issues along the way, hope it will be useful too.

EDIT: nevermind, I got them installed. I followed a tutorial I found on YouTube.

    Link to the youtube tutorial?

To both: Welcome to the Forum. Do check out the following information as well, which can hopefully make the installation process a bit easier for Windows. Before adding any Custom Updates, the best thing to do first is install LDD properly. There is a new perfect method to do this as detailed in my earlier post linked below, which essentially combines the two installers for both “LDD Version 4.3.11” and “LDD Version 4.3.12” to achieve a perfect installation.

Once complete, Custom LDD Updates can be installed. Start with the “Complete Update“ from Dropbox as linked in the Post to receive all new content since 2020, then install the latest LDD Update (January 2025) as well. The easiest way to describe the installation process is to Copy and Paste all Folders and Files into the corresponding locations on the User’s PC, then select “Replace All” when prompted (only after the “db” File has been extracted). The main “db” Folder should be located in “C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer”, so everything should be Pasted within there. Remember that most new Bricks will only be added to LDD Extended, so always check here first. P.S., Do check this topic and the main Custom LDD Update Website for further news regarding ongoing issues with certain Parts such as Minifigure-related ones, which require more time to fully address.

  13. 24 minutes ago, Mister_Loki said:

Hello, I have an issue which was not present the last time I had done a Parts update. The short story is that I got a new PC (moved from Windows 10 to Windows 11 with it) and went to download LDD and the Newest Parts update like I usually did, but an issue has now arisen. After doing everything as I should have I got a part error and all decorations are not showing properly on the minifigure parts (head, torso, legs), they're really extended. These are the first changes I noticed. What did I do wrong during the installation? I downloaded LDD 4.3.11, used Lif Extractor on the db.lif, downloaded the Complete Part installation from the most recent update (Development Version 20240922) and now I got this problem.

This is how my decorations look:

    https://imgur.com/a/8KTGspD

This is the error part which has missing arms:

    https://imgur.com/a/Gc6k4b1

Any help is appreciated cause I'm stumped on what I did wrong.

Next time remember to post in the partner support topic for questions regarding LDD Updates. For the latest LDD Update this year Minifigure Parts were updated with new UV Mappings which decorates multiple surfaces at once instead of separately, connections between Parts were also modified. However, some users including myself found old connected Minifigures removed due to the new collisions, the new UV Mappings also mean all existing official Minifigure Decorations need to be redone which takes a lot of time The new format will also impact custom Decorations and creating custom combos from the existing Decorations, unless you have access to the original high-resolution Decoration Images/Shapes and know how to edit each UV Map manually to combine Decorations. I am less involved with LDD these days so the best thing I can say now is wait for official news as this issue takes time to resolve or temporarily revert back to the previous Update.

After further checks, no additional changes are required for the PDF Guide and the latest version is the one from December 1, 2024.

P.S., “Windows 11, version 24H2” was just released today and so far LDD is running smoothly on my end after the upgrade plus a few Driver updates that I previously did not know of. Concerning the PDF Guide, please note that for one of the programmes mentioned and often used “Microsoft Paint 3D”, from November 4 it could no longer be downloaded from the Microsoft Store but one final update was published afterwards before removal and existing installations will be unaffected, Microsoft recommends sticking with the more basic “Paint”, edit functions within “Microsoft Photos” and “3D Builder” for 3D Models. In addition, starting from “Windows 11, version 24H2” another mentioned Text Editor “Wordpad” is finally discontinued, Microsoft recommends sticking with the more basic “Notepad” or directly switching to “Microsoft Word” (may require a Paid Subscription) to edit relevant files.

As the latest LDD Update for January 2025 was just made available, the PDF Guide will be updated with new entries and fixes to existing entries due to updated UV Mappings. So far there are around eight new entries to add, four existing entries to update and two new Sloped Bricks to be newly mentioned in the section regarding the six different Base Height of Slopes. Due to newly added Graphics Display options in “Windows 11, version 24H2”, there will now be a dedicated section regarding how to optimise running LDD on Windows, expanding upon the original short paragraph in the existing Guide. These changes will officially launch Version 2 of the PDF Guide, hopefully within the next few weeks as there are far fewer Bricks to add compared to previous LDD Updates.

Question: The latest update contains two DecorationMapping.xmls and two info.xmls. How should I handle this? I can't paste both into the same folder without one overwriting the other.

Thanks for the post as I was completely unaware of the latest LDD Update until seeing this. Just downloaded the three ZIP files from the latest LDD Update and used a “Text Compare” Website to compare the contents of all files with the same file names, so far under both “db” the two “DecorationMapping.xml” and “info.xml” are completely identical, under “Palettes” then “2020NewPreColoredParts” the two “2020NewPreColoredParts.paxml” and “info.baxml” are also completely identical. I guess for now overwrite the local copy with either pair or wait until an official post in the partner topic for an official confirmation in case there were supposed to be differences or some files were misplaced/accidentally included twice, requiring further fixes.

Hello everyone , I have been trying to update my parts list for LDD for over 2 hours with no success. I'm on windows 11 and have reinstalled LDD 5 times. The version of LDD i have is 4.3 , its the version that i believe has the most parts , as 4.3.12 is missing parts. But with either version it fails. Either it simply does not work or the listed files in the how to guide on page 1 do not show. Please if their is a specific version of LDD I need can you post the link and if their is a more precise how to guide or video that would be super helpful. thank you!

Welcome, please post in the partner topic next time regarding any LDD-related questions.Do ckeck out the new perfect method to install LDD on Windows 10/11 before trying to install the Custom Updates, as detailed in my post earlier linked below. Once I have accessto my Laptop later today I will be able to assist further as I am currently using a public PC away from home. Hope this helps for now.

EDIT: The link has now been updated to show a preview.

In the past week, the PDF Guide and ZIP File were both revisited and a few minor changes have been made due to previously inaccurate information and accidental errors. Please download the PDF Guide and the ZIP File from the same links as before for the latest versions and thanks for stopping by.

The first fix is for the Decoration Surface of Part 48288 Flat Tile 8×16, Part 90498 Flat Tile 8×16 and Part 4974 Flat Tile 8×16, after further tests it was discovered that the initial Width remains at 1024 Pixels but the initial Heights need to be enlarged slightly from 512 Pixels to 514 Pixels to eliminate the two 1 Pixel Gaps on top and at the bottom, therefore this is now mentioned within the relevant individual entry.

The second fix is for the Vector UV Mapping of Part 87079 Flat Tile 2×4 and all relevant information within its individual entry, after further tests it was finally decided to use 476 Pixels times 952 Pixels as the Dimensions of the Top Main Surface thus the Width of the Front and Back Vertical Surfaces were also changed to 952 Pixels, completely eliminating the 1 Pixel Gap on one side (typos within the Vector UV Mapping itself were also fixed).

The third fix is for the Vector UV Mapping of Part 60581 Wall Element 1×4×3, Abs and Part 87543 Wall Element 1×4×3, PC, where the supplied SVG File accidentally included an extra Grouped Black Rectangle placed above the Page which has now been removed.

Other than these three fixes, most of the Vector UV Mapping SVG Files were regenerated as previous versions accidentally contained outdated information used when testing them locally in LDD before release.

  19. Just went through all of the Warning Tile Decorations in LDD again and decided to post about the latest changes, please refer to this post from now on for the latest information regarding this series of Decorations, any newer Elements in the series produced by TLG will be added in future posts once they are listed online. The first section includes current Decorations in LDD which can all be updated with the latest PNG Images for improved accuracy.

“24075.png”: This is the “1×2 Warning Tile (Large Yellow Corners)”, last used in official TLG Sets in 2019, please download this PNG Image and replace the existing version.

“38273.png”: This is the “1×6 Warning Tile (Black Corners)”, please download this PNG Image and replace the existing version.

“58858.png”: This is the “1×4 Warning Tile (Black Corners)”, the original Warning Tile Decoration provided by LDD officially as a square Decoration in the old 128 Pixels times 128 Pixels format (link). To match the updated UV Mapping of Part 2431 Flat Tile 1×4, the existing version can be replaced by downloading this PNG Image. However, since the latest Custom LDD Update on September 22, 2024, this entry has been removed from the latest version of the “DecorationMapping.xml”. Therefore, replacing this PNG Image will only fix distorted Decorations in existing LDD builds and the default LDD Brick Menu entry in LDD Regular Mode, please use “73823.png” for new and custom builds (details below) as “58858.png” was last used in official TLG Sets in 2019.

“73819.png”: This is the “1×2 Warning Tile (Small Yellow Corners)”, still in use in 2024 (so this is preferred for new and custom Builds), please download this PNG Image and replace the existing version.

“73823.png”: This is the “1×4 Warning Tile (Yellow Corners)”, the latest Warning Tile Decoration still in use in 2024, please download this PNG Image and replace the existing version.

Most Decoration IDs have been obtained from “Brickset”, but some newer Elements were only listed on “Rebrickable”. Thanks to these two Sites, the second section below includes all of the remaining Warning Tile Decorations which can be added to LDD anytime. Wait till a future Custom LDD Update or download the relevant PNG Images and use the following information to manually add the following entries to the “DecorationMapping.xml”, three new entries in the series have also been added as all Warning Tiles have a common four-sided gap and equal stripe widths across all designs.

1×4 Warning Tile (Red Corners): Decoration ID 19973, download PNG Image here and add the following line to the “DecorationMapping.xml”: “    <Mapping decorationID="19973" designID="2431" surfaceID="1"/>”.

1×3 Warning Tile (Yellow Corners): Decoration ID 68408, download PNG Image here and add the following line to the “DecorationMapping.xml”: “    <Mapping decorationID="68408" designID="63864" surfaceID="1"/>”.

1×4 Warning Tile (White Corners): Decoration ID 73820, this is a mystery Printed Element as all Sets claiming to use this on “Brickset” and “Bricklink” actually show 19973 in their Product Images and Online Instructions, but the Decoration PNG Image was still created anyway. Download PNG Image here and add the following line to the “DecorationMapping.xml”: “    <Mapping decorationID="73820" designID="2431" surfaceID="1"/>”.

1×6 Warning Tile (White Corners): Decoration ID 107554, a new Element first produced in 2024 not even listed on “Brickset” yet. Download PNG Image here and add the following line to the “DecorationMapping.xml”: “    <Mapping decorationID="107554" designID="6636" surfaceID="1"/>”.

1×1 Warning Tile: Decoration ID 109405, a new Element first produced in 2024. Download PNG Image here and add the following line to the “DecorationMapping.xml”: “    <Mapping decorationID="109405" designID="2431" surfaceID="1"/>”.

2×2 Warning Tile: Decoration ID 107567, a new Element first produced in 2024 not even listed on “Brickset” yet. Download PNG Image here and add the following line to the “DecorationMapping.xml”: “    <Mapping decorationID="107567" designID="2431" surfaceID="1"/>”.

All PNG Images should be placed in the “C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\db\Decorations” Folder, after download please remember to open the “File Properties” of each Image and unblock each one before use as Windows might treat files as harmful ones from other computers once modified or downloaded, then rename each to the relevant Decoration ID before use.

The PDF Guide can be downloaded here from Dropbox using the same link as before. As new Dropbox Share Links now require a Security Key for access, this old link will continue to be used until it is no longer supported. As an added bonus, all 74 Vector UV Mappings used in the Guide can now be downloaded as a ZIP File from Dropbox here (the Security Key must be included for this link but it has been simplified as much as possible). This is Major Version 1 of the PDF Guide and future releases will always be numbered depending on how much the Guide has to be rewritten. Thanks for stopping by and I hope this will be useful for all.

Apologies for not completing the latest edits to the PDF Guide before Sunday night, but work has been in the way for the past three days and I only just had time to complete everything. Please download the PDF Guide and the ZIP File from the same links as before for the latest versions (the PDF Guide Publish Date has now been changed to October 30). The latest updates fixed the outdated LDD Screenshot within the Curved Slope Decoration Entries and the relevant text is no longer in Red, monir text improvements were also implemented after going through the entire document again. Most importantly, a new section regarding Decorations for Part 3004 Brick 1×2 was added. It was randomly discovered that for a Decoration occupying both the Front Vertical Surfaces of Part 3023 Plate 1×2 on Top and Part 3004 Brick 1×2 Below, if the Decorations have the same but less Width than 3023 and 3004 they will most likely not be Aligned with each other. As a result, a new Vector UV Mapping was included in this section to explain how to adjust the Part 3004 Decoration slightly to make it look better in LDD whenever paired with the Decoration of Part 3023. I hope that this Guide will be useful for all and thanks for stopping by.

A small typo was just discovered in the Vector UV Mapping of Part 3004 Brick 1×2 where one of the Gaps had its Width mislabelled but all Rectangles within are still correctly sized. This has just been fixed so for everyone who downloaded the PDF and ZIP Folder before today please do so again using the same links as before, sorry for any inconvenience caused.

EDIT The entries for Parts 3004, 11153, 11477 and 24201 were updated further, since these four original PNG UV Mappings are 512 Pixels times 512 Pixels which is half of the maximum size possible, some mistakes were accidentally made when scaling these up by half. By the end of today, one more page regarding Part 3004 will be added as I need to figure out some Alignment issues when trying to create a Decoration with the top section on a 3023 and the lower section on a 3004 (both on its front vertical surface).

Anyhow, it sounds like you haven't made any changes to the minifig leg UV maps (or not yet anyway). Does that means the waist decorations are displaying weirdly for some other reason?

Just remembered something else about this while browsing through the files from the latest LDD Update. Look for “21019 (3815+20460+20461)_1-6.png” under the “UV Mappings” Folder supplied with the latest LDD Update which is the new version of Minifig Leg UV Mappings, this design can decorate all four sides of the two Legs plus the Hip section all at once, also check “21019 instructions.txt” which explains how to apply the relevant Decorations for now. For Minifig Arms look for “3818_1.png” and “3819_1.png” under the same Folder which are the latest versions of Minifig Arm UV Mappings for now. Until these are further updated I would suggest using these three UV Mappings to update all custom Minifig Decorations and solve all misalignment issues, there may still be misaligned official Decorations if they were accidentally left out and not adjusted in time before the latest LDD Update was released.

Second is a groundbreaking discovery related to regular LEGO Slopes which will completely overhaul the majority of the relevant existing knowledge I discovered online.

After more detailed research, the new information regarding Slope base Height in my last post was still not accurate enough. By comparing various Sloped Elements in LDD and testing out a few UV Mappings, it was discovered that there are actually six different base Heights of Slopes. When designing all relevant Decorations, please use the following complete list of values to help calculate the Height of the Main Slope with all Part Numbers appearing in order of LDD Brick Menu appearance, extracted from the PDF Size Guide. For Curved Slopes Measurements please refer to the Guide once published, right now the only missing information is the individual entries of 10 different Curved Slopes which I hope to complete Measuring and add to the Guide within the next few days then it can finally be published.

Series 1: Base Height 0.2 cm, the most common one used by almost all Regular Roof Tiles and most Curved Slopes.

    4569, 3040, 92946, 4286, 5654, 60481, 3039, 3045, 3046, 13548, 60477, 4460, 3038, 3298, 3678, 78886, 3037, 30363, 3675, 4161, 99301, 2875, 3685, 30499, 98560, 3297, 23949, 4445, 2937, 30249, 4509, 30180, 4515, 50950, 11153, 24309, 71771 and 61409.

Series 2: Four Cheese Slopes with Base Height 0.16 cm and Groove Height 0.04 cm further below.

    50746, 54200, 85984 and 5404.

Series 3: Base Height 0.13125 cm, second most common one used by almost all Inverted Roof Tiles and one Inverted Curved Slope.

    2310, 3665, 18759, 2341, 4287, 3660, 3676, 76959, 2449, 3747, 52501, 4871, 22889, 4854, 15647, 30390, 72454, 30183, 60219 and 24201.

Series 4: Base Height 0.16 cm, only seven Bricks use this old standard.

    5540, 32802, 67440, 49618, 5117, 78522 and 32803.

Series 5: Base Height 0.1921875 cm, discovered randomly whilst Measuring the Curved Slope of Part 11477 Plate W. Bow 1×2×2/3 and used by five specific Bricks.

    28192, 11477, 93273, 61678 and 93606.

Series 6: Part 15068 Plate W. Bow 2×2×2/3 has a unique Base Height of 0.1828125 cm.
