This is my version of the Gryffindor Common Room. I used tiles on the walls and floor to represent the tapestries and carpet. I experimented with designs on paper for the tapestries but quickly gave up on the idea. That just wasn't working for me, so I went with random tiles in basic colors. The live Gryffindors have flesh faces while the portraits have yellow faces. I used the other common rooms to get ideas for the furniture. I was really inspired by all the rooms built in the first round and appreciate everyone's efforts.

This is my version of the Gryffindor Common Room. I didn't realize there were tapestries covering the walls until after I selected it and looked up photos. That was a challenge for me. I borrowed ideas from other rooms. It is my first MOC so I welcome suggestions. I'm not sure how to unattach the photo I attached the first time I made this post. Thanks CorneliusMurdock. I'll give it a shot since you were so kind to continue this community build. I'll be a Gryffindor and do 14. Gryffindor Common Room

If only someone had given me this warning before it was too late. Not only the spending... I'm running out of space!

Pre-ordered. The technic gearing fascinates me. I have a few technic sets, the latest one is the 8070 super car. I'm debating whether or not I should get the 8110 Unimog. I really hate trying to take them apart though. I'm looking forward to your book. I have had your site bookmarked for over a year.

I mostly buy the sets for the pieces and sell off the minifigs on ebay to help defray the cost of the sets. If I really like both the sets and minifigs such as the LotR sets, I will buy two sets and sell off the duplicate minifigs. Most of the time if someone would email and ask about the accessories I would sell those too. With the HP sets, I kept all the dementors but I didn't need duplicates of most of the minifigs. I sell off all the Star War minifigs. I often like buying 2 of the same set (when I can afford it). I build the first one using the instructions and the second one using the first set as a model. Or I use the extra pieces to expand the first set. I'm trying to learn to be more creative. I would much rather buy an entire second set and sell the minifigs than to just buy the set minus the minifigs because - yes - it is much cheaper for me that way.

Great work. I hope you continue with more sets. I too would buy them if lego offered them but I also would buy the instructions if you offered them - for a reasonable fee:). I really enjoy the LotR theme and these look great. I've been watching all the movies while building the LotR sets I bought so far. Edoras was my instant favorite of yours but then I saw Treebeard and now I'm torn. Maybe trees really do talk. If no one is in the woods to listen...

I followed this thread from day one eagerly awaiting the finished MOCs. What great inspiration for me to attempt my own. Great job to everyone. I'm still hoping some of you (or other volunteers) will finish and post the remaining rooms.

Welcome. I love that your husband doesn't know the prices:) My husband isn't interested in legos either so I get them all to myself too. He did get interested in the CMF though. He already had a fireman in his car but now he claimed all my bandits. He even had me put a box of the CMF in the shopping cart at WalMart and we walked around the store so I could feel the packets for the ones he wanted. I like the builds more than the minifigs myself, although I "must" get all the LOTR minfigs.

Review: 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep
StrykerCat replied to Lego Otaku's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I was going to try to wait to buy this set, but after reading your review and seeing amazon drop the price to $117 for a day, I snagged it. Now after reading comments about combining 2 sets, I'm wishing I had snagged two of them. I have a difficult time passing up sales. Today I will build it. I often sell off the minifigs to help offset the cost of my lego addiction but this time I need them all. I was thinking I could use some of the PotC zombies for Uruk-Hai. WalMart clearanced some PotC Captain's Cabins and I managed to get three of them which gives me 6 zombies. I'll be sure not to use Jack Sparrow though. -
I’ve been a member for a few years now as a stalker mostly. I don’t think I ever introduced myself. I’m a parent of 3 adult kids. While they were growing up I spent hours playing lego with them, but I was usually the hunter/gatherer (find me a 2x4 in red...). When one son decided he didn’t want his legos, I bought them from him but first I needed to sort out the pieces and build his sets from the combined collection. I was instantly addicted to sorting and building. Luckily I had hoarded the instructions which they didn’t really need for long. I actually had some of them laminated to preserve them. I am not as creative as I would like to be and think if I just buy that (insert almost any set here) set, I would be able to build what I want. My grown daughter discovered she inherited the lego gene and we started building and shopping for deals together. It is because of this that I am now considering building something worth uploading and sharing.

The Eurobricks Reviewers Academy
StrykerCat replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
I would like to join the Reviewers Academy. I have a decent camera and lots of sets both old and new.
