Chapter I: "The Return Home" - Winner announced
Ayrlego replied to Ross Fisher's topic in Tales of Old
Some really great builds from everyone! Like Khorne, I am going to limit myself to three votes: nupe, can't do it... four votes! 1. @evancelt I mean what's not to like, it's a giant castle! More than that, it has great texture and a very realistic feel with the very clever addition of the old school castle panels in the tower giving a great balance between classic castle and modern MOC techniques. Excellently photographed and presented. 2. @Dutch Thriceman A fantastic vignette packed with details that proves you don't have to build big to make a big impact. The three different building types compliment each other well and the green shutters make for a great pop of colour. Excellent photography and presentation. 3. (tied) @Ross Fisher I love the colour palette and style and I have a particular fondness for grass/living roofs. Fantastic Minifigs and vibrant colours / @Professor Thaum another great (but very different) palette and excellent middle eastern vibe. The brick build camel is fantastic and there is a cockatoo included (always a bonus for Australian wildlife!) The turquoise tiles add a needed bright pop to the colour. As I said, well done to all. It was not easy to vote. I'd also like to thank @Khorne and Ross for making this happen and inspiring me to MOC again after so long. -
The sun dipped low over the hills as Basil Vatatzes returned to his modest estate, the dust of war still clinging to his boots. After months of grueling campaign against the northern barbarians, the gentle rhythm of olive harvest preparations offered a soothing contrast to the clash of swords and cries of battle. The estate buzzed with quiet purpose—workers moved between groves, baskets in hand, laughter drifting on the breeze. On the balcony of the main house, Basil stood beside his wife Yazinta, her presence a balm to his weary soul. As he gazed out over the land he fought to protect, a deep sense of peace settled in his chest—he was home. Unfortunately I ran out of time towards the end of the build and the final details and photography were a bit rushed. My photography setup isn't what it used to be! Still it was very nice to actually compete a build for the first time in a long time!

Welcome LegacyBuilder, I look forward to following Mortimer's story!

Basil Vatatzes is a minor nobleman of the Pyrite Empire, known more for his quiet resilience than for grandeur. A loyal servant in the Emperor’s armies, Basil has spent much of his life in the field, most recently returning from a grueling campaign against the northern barbarians. His estate, nestled in the sun-warmed hills of the empire’s heart land, is modest but fruitful—home to a small vineyard and olive grove that produce well-regarded wine and olive oil. Widowed in his earlier years, Basil raised two sons who have since carved their own paths: one as a soldier in the imperial legions, the other as a clerk in the imperial court. His recent remarriage to Yazinta, a Mogholay woman and daughter of a prosperous trader, has raised eyebrows among the local land owners. Yazinta Vatatzaina, herself a widow with no children, brings a quiet dignity and worldly insight to Basil’s household, challenging the insular traditions of Pyrite aristocracy. Though his sword arm is weary, Basil remains a man of principle—grounded by the land he tends, the family he’s built, and the empire he serves. Now he stands ready once more to answer the Emperor's call.

Mogholay Empire Mogholay Sipahi (noble cavalry). This was probably going to be my Sig Fig for the Mogholay, but now I'm leaning towards another faction!

Hi all, here are some Tales of Old army fig barfs I was inspired to make reading Khorne's faction summaries. Pyrite Empire Kingdom of Corrington L-R Man at Arms (x2), Knight, Longbowmen (x2), Tammish Light Cavalry, Hand Cannoneer, Dismounted Knight Kingdom of Oléon Back: Knights (x4) Front: Pavise Crossbowmen, Man at Arms (x2), Ribauldequin or organ gun Ribauldequin based on this build by michaelozzie1: https://www.flickr.com/photos/54395270@N08/34659072891/in/dateposted/ To be continued... Feel free to add your own Fig Barfs!

[COR - FB] Marderian Style Bathhouse, New Haven
Ayrlego replied to Bricksbypidy's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Love this idea for New Haven, fits the aesthetic perfectly. Great work! -
@Bricksbypidy After a brief stop for supplies at Arlinsport, HMS Challenger set sail again bound north. Before the adventurers can even enter the Great Northern Ocean, they must successful round the Madrice Peninsular. HMS Challenger will need to resupply again before being able to make one of the smaller ports on Corrington's northern coast or even a friendly northern Eslandolan port. Navigator Alexandre Bar-de-Fer presents Captain Cooke and the expedition with two options. 1. Namere. Namere is known as a land where powerful families fight for power with constantly shifting political alliances and and petty wars. The faith is also known to have a strong presence with some areas being directly controlled by the clergy. Landing anywhere in Namere could be risky depending on who is in control of the port. One option is Reigh. A northerly port, Reigh is home to many whalers that likely have knowledge of the Great Northern Ocean which could prove invaluable. This information is not without risk... the stability of the region is unknown and rumours tell of a petty war between two powerful families in the region. Supplies may be very expensive and bribery will likely be necessary. Map of Namere courtesy of @Mesabi 2. Altonia. In contrast to Namere, Ulric is a safe option. Altonia is friendly towards Corrington and Altonian hospitality is famed. The merchants of Altonia are also famed as honest dealers, and resupply will be fair and corruption free. However, the merchants are shrewd businessmen and are unlikely to share any commercial secrets they may hold about the Great Northern Ocean. Advernturers, the choice is yours. Your decision will determine how costly resupply will be (DBs to be deducted from expedition treasury) and further information of use to the expedition may be revealed. Choose wisely. To continue show a scene of your expedition resupplying in your chosen port.

I really like the addition of the bright yellow to the Port Woodhouse style. Also that post sign you've hung above the door is one I've wanted to recreate in the Brick Seas world for a while - very nice!- 4 replies
