Yeah I asked him as well. I believe that Var was near me waiting for you to fill out the Spring Assortment Giveaway when Jordan was speaking to me. Though, I forgot where Kahi was at the exact moment. But yes I did infact ask him myself and he did mention the Vahi.

Yes, the Vahi being "half a mask" was mentioned to me as well by Jordan Paxton if I remember correctly. This is when I asked him whether this new story will be connected to the old. He then started to explain that the mask we have seen in Gen 1 of Bionicle was only "half a mask" and that the mask maker didn't manage to complete it. He then told me how I'll find out more about it in the panel (I asked him while on the showfloor), however it wasn't really mentioned.

If anyone is disappointed that we wont be seeing classic mask powers, I just want to let you guys know that there is a possibility of them coming back. LEGO did say that they wanted to respect the roots. And I believe they did just that with these new sets and their designs. Besides, just because the Toa don't have their mask powers from Gen 1, does not mean that we won't see them in the future of the storyline, whenever LEGO needs to upgrade the sets. Powers of Shielding, Speed, Strength, X-Ray, etc. could come back when these Toa receive an upgrade to their armor next year. I mean if the Toa now all of a sudden were to have all their mask powers and maxed out abilities for the first year, there isn't much room for improvement (storywise) when the sets get upgraded for next year. Im sure no one wants next years upgrade to just be "improved armor".

If I remember correctly, someone in the panel asked if we would see returning characters besides the Toa and Makuta. I think Lego's answer was that they currently have no plans to bring any characters back( besides the "Main Baddie" and the Heroic Toa, of course).

The plot twist thing would be really awesome! Just imagine the Toa searching for the masks, trying to help out Ekimu and battling Makuta for 2015 and 2016. Only to have Ekimu become corrupt with the MoUP and the Toa have to stop him in 2017?

Where did you find these pictures? Im in the first one you linked and I would love to see where you found it from! Yeah I was in the same VIP event as you and I believe I made a mistake recalling the color. However looking back at the pictures that I have on my phone (lucky you were able to get a couple of them), I now see that I incorrectly recalled them as a much more yellowish color. I think that the lighting and the coloring of the yellow parts bin made my eye believe they were a much more yellowish color.

I know you have the sets and I must be mistaken. But I clearly remember reaching in the parts bin and seeing a bunch of trans yellow bone pieces, that did not look like Surge's 1.0 hero core. However I do believe that I can be wrong and if I am I do apologize. :) Not everyone got the Tahu set directly, most of us just reached into the parts bin and tried recreating him to the best of our abilities. In the parts bin they did not have Protector pieces, although I can only speak for the three bins that I was looking through and used.

I have checked my Surge 1.0 Hero Core and I can say Pohatu's bone pieces is not that color. They are much more yellowish.

I dont know if anyone has cleared this up, but Pohatu does include trans yellow bone pieces. As I remember coming across it many times in the parts bin, full of Bionicle 2015 parts. Also I was so glad they let me take home the MOC that I managed to make. I ended up stacking on a bunch of those new gold add-on pieces. I could provide pictures for later if you guys really want to see them. Sadly I only have one trans purple piece. And a load of Gold Miru's.. Edit: I have now looked through the pictures in my phone and yes the pieces are trans neon green. It must've been the lighting from the Lego store that must've made it look much more yellowish than it is. :( Oh how I wish they were actual trans yellow.
