  1. Well it seems there will always be drama over these communist trains. regardless, myself and the kids have fun adding them into the mix. heres a short video of the two newest additions , ones a Lego and the other is power functions added to one of Ausini's trains. I had read that the RC trains weren't much chop, well the one I got seems to go ok. I think the battery box being low to the ground helps it go around corners faster, my son's Horizon Express can go faster, but it won't stay on the track, maybe some ballast it required.
  2. After searching the forum, I saw this and having been on forums for 15+ years know its etiquette to do an intro. Im not an adult fan. My son is into lego, but I enjoy spending time with hi building lego. My the in 30's cars and building them. But building or modifying anything is of interest to me. I have encouraged my son with lego I think its a great thing for a kid to learn. His prized possession is the lego horizon express train. He calls it his TGV and everything he draws etc is around that train. I bought some clone trains for me, he built them of course, I put a post up about them, I enjoy the trains the most as I never had a train set, so the trains are a coll thing to me. I will be interested in ideas for track options I probably will be reading more than active participation in the forum. Cheers
  3. My first post. My son has the horizon express and loves it, so I added some more track to increase the fun and then the 7939 and 7938. I liked the look of the enlighten union pacific, so I bought one its ok. Next was to motorise it which made it more fun. Then I saw Ausini trains. I joined here to reply to this topic with first hand knowledge of the kits. I would say 90-95% of lego. As noted with other clones. the reds and oranges are off, and the windscreens are not 100% but for the dollars, their good. I had to make my own battery boxes to power the PF train motors mostly as the Lego box is too wide. Ive included photos of the battery box I made for reference. this cost about $8 to make there are2x 3 A A A battery holders that can be placed one in front of the other for narrow bodied trains. I dont seem to be able to space the photos out to put comments to each one. Notice track on box for size comparison , also instructions show grey area as area done, Happy for any questions So photos...
