  1. A few new comparison images (plus a couple I said I'd take a while ago. Doh!) UCS Slave 1 T-16s MTTs B-wings
  2. More comparison photos for you: Y-wings: X-wings: A-wings: Slave 1s: Republic Gunships: AT-TEs: ] I'll be able to do MTTs, B-Wings, Snow Speeders, and Star Destroyers sometime in the next week or two hopefully (have to get them built first!) Josh
  3. I bought the SSD last November. That was my first set in probably 20 years. I wish! I had a huge collection of metal figures that I got in highschool. Got tired of moving it with me over the last 20 years, so sold it for a chunk of change that I ended up sinking into this current addiction. That, and a mis-spent tax return this year... The only set I think I really overpaid for was the UCS Falcon. I got a couple of really good deals on Craigslist for some large collections at excellent prices. The rest was just watching Ebay/Bricklink for sales/low prices. Josh
  4. Had a request for some pictures of my collection (started with my comparison photo of the AT-ATs). Here's a bunch I just took (I can post more if people are interested). The set that started the insanity for me. My Super Star Destroyer was the first purchase that brought me out of my dark ages These were the first UCS Star Wars sets, but virtually the last ones I got (have to find a better place to display them than on the bar...) AT-TEs through the years (newest to oldest from left to right) Republic Gunships through the years My most recent Bricklink project, the Venator My pride and joy. No introduction needed :) At some point I'm going to print out a sticker for it Followed closely by my second favorite The opposite end of the bar from the Falcon has a mix of sets My custom UCS Snow Speeder (was my 2nd Bricklink project) X-wings through the years More Rebellion fighters Bounty hunter ships My UCS display bookcase My first minifig display case I built And the mess... ran out of space for anything else, so have to finish the rest of the shelving Josh
  5. I just came out of my dark ages in the last year, so I don't have any attachments to any particular era. That being said, I prefer the newest model Pros: - slightly larger (about 2 studs longer and 2 studs wider) - a couple of new(er) interesting pieces - cockpit is better than the original (but similar to the more recent releases) - the tow cable can actually fire! (uses the new pistol from the recent battlepacks). The original didn't have the tow cable at all, btw - 'better' minifigs. The new model comes with Luke, Dak, and Snow Trooper, all new versions with this wave as far as I can tell. Luke and Dak have back/leg printing and double sided faces (Luke has printed visor down and up, Dak has a smile and a frown with visor down on both sides). The Snow Trooper has a printed flesh head, cloth kama, back printing (but no leg printing), new helm mold (without backpack), brick-built backpack (with printed tile), and brick-built heavy blaster (slightly new build, sturdier). I know 'fleshies' are heresy to some, but I like them. - new spring loaded missiles underneath (I know these aren't everyone's favorite though, so feel free to move this to the 'Cons') Cons: - stickers. Only printed piece is the Snow Trooper 'backpack', everything else is a sticker. That being said, the two console stickers are much more 'movie accurate' - no orange. I do kind of miss the orange, which was so prevalent in the early models (including the UCS set)
  6. Good catch. Just fixed it :) I picked up my retired sets from Ebay, BrickLink, ThePlasticBrick, Craigslist, and a couple others. Occasionally you can find recently retired sets from Target/ToysRUs/Walmart/Amazon. Josh
  7. I didn't realize there was a comparison topic, but feel free to use that pic in it. If you need any other comparison pics, let me know. I'm not a great photographer, but I do have 95% of all the LEGO Star Wars sets (don't have most of the technic statues, the UCS statues, and some mini sets). Josh
  8. Here's the pic I took of all the AT-ATs together, to get a sense of scale: From left to right, the new one (75054), the motorized (10178), the 2010 version (8129), and the original (4483) Josh
  9. Here are the Snowspeeder pics. I included (from left to right) the original, the first remake, the one from the Wampa cave, the one from the Echo Base, and the newest one. Josh
  10. The AT-AT parts came in 8 bags (two #5 bags, which is the step that built the legs). The box was almost entirely full, which is different from a lot of sets where the parts only take up about half the space. I think the smaller box in this case is much better. I had to shrink the photo considerably, but the MTT actually has 954 pieces. Josh
  11. I've been thinking about checking out the Ikea display cabinets. There's one that looks like it might hold the UCS Star Destroyer, but I'm not confident of that.
  12. I haven't built mine yet (just got it today), but I can post a pic once I do (I have all the snow speeder variants from over the years). Josh
  13. I swapped the hands from a Stormtrooper with a Snowtrooper so I'd have the Blue box version from the 2nd Millennium Falcon (I have the Original Trilogy version) rather than buy the 'correct' minifigs on Bricklink. Who's to say that's not what the store I would have bought from did :P. What about the different versions of the Battledroid fig, one with a tan 1x2 plate on the back, and one without? Besides, with some people buying used minifigs lots from Ebay/Goodwill/Craigslist/whatever, it's even less likely for a used minifig to be 'original parts', in my opinion.
  14. Yeah, sorry. I meant the Bellevue store. They said they'd be getting more in tomorrow (guess it would be today now), but the Lynnwood store had everything. I built the AT-AT tonight so I could get a pic with all 4 models for comparison, but I can't post it yet (image quota restrictions still)
