Since the program was lagging hard after finishing just the library, I was forced to create models for the landmarks only, with the island itself missing. Nevertheless, is the finished slideshow showcasing my LEGO MOCs based on Myst Island. Here is my BrickShelf gallery for every LXF file. Enjoy!

I would greatly appreciate some assistance. For a model of the planetarium, I'm using a SNOT technique to create the illusion of roundness on the top and bottom of the building. The problem is that the top view looks like a lumpy circle, which looks odd. Could someone please help with my technique? Here is a good reference shot: Here is the LXF file. Thanks to all in advance.

Could get some more feedback / critiques? I appreciate what you people are saying so far; I was just hoping for a little more. *shrug* I am enjoying myself and feeling more confident in my abilities; maybe that's what really matters.

Glad to hear it. Honestly, I'm feeling the most proud of my model of the giant tree. For a while, I struggled with getting its base down just right, and then I came up with an idea to make its bricks more realistic. It's the kind of experience that helps me feel more self-confident.

I'm experiencing mixed emotions. A part of me is having fun -- like Benny finally building his spaceship -- another part is incredulous that I'm doing this, and another part is wondering whether I should spend my time doing something else.

I appreciate the comments so far, guys. Does anyone know of a program that can endure larger-scale models without slowing down and / or crashing? Thanks!

Today, I completed the library, with artistic license -- I added a weird design on the sides, between the pillars. In a way, it actually makes it feel more reminiscent of D'ni architecture as seen in Uru: Ages Beyond Myst. Wow! I'm feeling drained -- and just in time for my vacation days to be almost over! At 2,472 bricks, LDD sure is slowing down with this model, so I'm not too sure about cramming the entire island into one file. Is there a way I could get to fit more structures in a LEGO realm with more ease?

Recently, I've begun creating Myst Island in LDD, starting with the library interior. It's been quite a headache, but I'm figuring it out. If anyone wants to mess around with the LXF, here it is. Note: I realize how LDD is getting highly addictive. Next time, I'll jot down a creative idea in a good spot once it comes to me but flesh it out only after I've taken care of my highest priorities. If I'm going to be more successful, I'll have to be more self-disciplined.

Sweet. I'm liking this community already. I might have this collaboration happen more often for my next project. -

Nice. This model is getting completed a lot more nicely now. I like how this went, revising someone else's LDD file. Does that happen often around here? -

Okay, here you go. I'm learning all kinds of things here, like how to create a hyperlink. -

Sure. How do I do that? -

Recently, I've been working on a diorama inspired by Cloud Cuckoo Land. I figure it'll be good to do something fun before I get in some work on a project that I'm more serious about. Right now, I'm struggling with the hinge align tool. As you can see, I attempt to get the single stud of the string with attachable pieces connected to one of two cone pieces. I click on the Hinge Align button, then on the stud from the string, then on the stud of the cone, but nothing happens. Any suggestions, please? Am I even attempting this correctly? -

Okay, I've uploaded some pictures to Flickr. How do I embed them? When I see a post preview, I am told that I can't use such a format. -
Creating with LEGO Digital Designer

My next project is proving to be quite a challenge. Is there any way to cram the gear from the hailfire droid into LDD? Of course, I'm planning on making a workable turntable. I saw the thread about it; now I need to get chain links. Also, I keep thinking about whether to post any photos of what I'm trying to create a model of, but then I remember that I want it to be a surprise. -
Hey, everyone, how's it going? When I heard about LDD from the bonus features of The LEGO Movie, I just had to download it as soon as I could. So far, it is a lot of fun, albeit time-consuming. For a while, I was cussing quite a bit, until I became more familiar with the user interface. Today, I feel satisfied with my models of a couple of fire extinguishers. It's funny how I had to find a mid-point between putting a lot of thought into this while also avoiding over-thinking it. When I was flexing the tube until it snapped onto the clawed piece on the red cylinder, I was like "C'mon, c'mon . . . yes." Anyway, my next model will be a lot more complex; I'm planning on getting photographic reference. For sure, it'll be awesome.
