Completed mine last Saturday and mine's the same on one side. I only intended to use it as a display piece (I'm an AFOL) so it isn't a big issue for me but my nephew may find it annoying.

I'm now into my second week of building this set (little and not often) and I'm really enjoying it. I found building the track assemblies pretty boring but overall the build is great.
