Thanks for all your comments, i have more sets of this era that i intend to review in time. Seems like there are quite a few holes to fill in the review index. I picture the city corner one near the High St and 6699 tucked down some side street by a railway bridge for example.

Hi all, Im looking to get hold of some Classic Space torsos. I have plenty of faded ones so im only after good condition nice ones with lots of gold on the logos. All colours (white, red, black blue and yellow) considered, however white ones are at the top of my list. I have the following castle figures spare. 20-30 skellies 15-20 crownies 10-15 dwarves 10-15 orc/trolls Plus a load of weapons and shields. I would prefer to trade these for castle fantasy era figures but will consider other things.

INDEXED 6699 - Cycle Fix-It Shop Released: 1987 Pieces: 63 Minifigs: 2 While building the new City Corner set i was inspired to pull out this classic set from my collection. A quick review and comparison to the 2009 version follows. Front of the box, just love these Legoland boxes. Rear of the box with the alternate models. It's a shame the old boxes meant you had to destroy the side flap to open them. Pieces of note: Two printed signs and three different coloured bikes! I do like the way older bikes stand up easier and feel well scaled in comparison to more modern bikes. The minifigs, two staples of the era, wish they would use the classic smiley a bit more in today's sets. Instructions are the normal double sided fold out variety. As with most of this style of set the build is simple, using mainly basic bricks with plate roofs and two large elements for the door and window. A couple of minutes later we have the completed set ready to liven up your streets. The back of the model has the usual open back style of the time - great for playability. Inside the shop we have a table with helmet and some spares on display. Next a little counter, somewhat lacking perhaps a till or phone could have been used. To the left we have the rear of the workshop complete with bike stand and tools. Here we have the 2009 equivalent from City Corner, skateboards replace motorbikes. Notice the bolder/brasher signage and the CCTV camera (signs of the times we live in). Also in 6699 we have a door and dividing wall to emphasise the split between shop and workshop. And finally the two together. Both sit on 16x6 baseplates and my opinion stand up pretty well together, showing 6699 is a welcome addition to any town or city, classic or modern. In conclusion, you get a nice looking building, three great bikes and two figures. To me it sums up the sets of this era - small yet simple build that seems to contain so much and has an almost timeless feel to it.

Just returned from the Brighton store. Not a great selection on sale, no Star Wars or City on sale. Did pick up a couple of Market Streets for £42, other than that it was 30% off the first wave of Agents and Indy (all except Temple Escape) . Also the Castle Troll ship and castle battle packs were reduced and the odd Bionicle etc. Also they had 7747 - Wind Turbine Transport in stock

Brickset gives me 1541 figures, with another 500 or so extra loose figures. Its been an expensive but fun-filled four years of collecting Lego. All started with buying my son the City Dump truck for his birthday.

Super deal the 3 for 2. Stocked up on 3x Shanghai Chase, 2x Flying Wing and a Firestation. Just need Toys Ru Us to do a similar deal so i can get some pirates and farm stuff.

Where is the best PAB-wall in the UK
emilec replied to UserNameInvalid's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The Brighton one doesn't have a great selection. Probably about 20 holes worth of pieces. These are mainly filled with basic pieces, roof slopes, plates, bricks, wheels/car bits etc.. in standard colours no rare colours last time i checked. The only things i have bought from these have been plant/tree/flower pieces and odd fence and window frame pieces. Managed to fit 300+ small flower stems and 100ish flowers on sprues in one of the small cups though! -

HUGE price hike on Town Plan, Green Grocer, Others?
emilec replied to brickzone's topic in General LEGO Discussion
UK prices still £88.09 (TP) and £97.85 (GG) no change yet! -
I haven't invested in trains much yet, just a single loop of RC track, the hobby train set and some of the power functions elements found in the dino kit released a year or two ago. I will be adding the Emerald Night to my collection and may be tempted to aquire some old 9v trains. Would i be able to add the power functions stuff to an old 9v train or the two current RC trains?

We can live in hope, however a merry-go-round and a wind turbine are two quite different things. Seems odd for them to reply yes to me saying "a merry-go-round?" and mistake the two. But, as you say they may well have just had a quick glance at a picture. Really wished i'd quizzed them more now as i was unaware of the turbine set you mentioned.
-
All they said was that there was a merry-go-round set coming. Obviously not in Cafe Corner range but more a standalone - Town Plan style of set (assuming it would be a minifig set but that's a guess on my part!). They said both (fire station and merry-go-round) look pretty darn good. Sadly i wasn't allowed to buy the Emerald Night set, which they had in stock out the back. Edit - Just to clarify, we were talking about the Cafe Corner range of buildings and they mentioned the 50's style Fire Station. Then, they said there was another set, while they were trying to describe it (they couldn't get the right words), i said - you mean a merry-go-round? they said yes. Don't blame me for misinformation just passing on what i heard. As there was some confusion in describing the set its possible they mistook the 7477 Wind Turbine Transport you mentioned above.

Moved reply to the City 09 thread.

I was talking to a member of staff in my local Lego store and he mentioned that a 50's style fire station would be coming out in August. He also mentioned a merry-go-round set along the lines of the town plan set.
