Lego was selling the 9v straight track for $13 for 8 pieces. They moved to plastic/RC track citing its cheaper to build, but now are charging $20 for 8 straight and 4 straight track length of that flex track which slows the trains down and doesnt look good. So instead of making the track cheaper by switching to all plastic, it went 2x cost almost. I would agree, Lego shud package 8 straights for $10 or so coz thats what its worth and leave different kinds of track pieces in separate packages. A package for straight track, a package for curved and another for flex track so you cal buy a la carte.
