After seeing what little amount of Bionicle reviews there were, I decided to review my favorite first wave Glatorian. Keep in mind that I no longer have the instructions or the original canister, but those things are not crucial to the set.
The canister, which is not mine, just a picture of the one on Lego.com, but it certainly does do a good job of making Vorox look tempting to get.
Here is all the pieces laid out. I love the color scheme, perfect for hiding in the desert sands of Bara Magna
(Note: The long black stick is not original, it is slightly longer then the one in the set, and also note his thornax launcher is not present because i broke it
One of my three favorite pieces of the set, the armor. Although its is just recolored Skrall armor, it has the perfect balance of style and barbarism
My only problem with this set, is the new type of joint connectors, I refer to them as "hands". The sides that grip the ball joints are much thinner then older versions and break almost routinely, so be very gentle when MOCing with them
Another of my favorite pieces, his helmet. It attaches to the top of his head, and leaves his mouth exposed, giving him a cool gladiator look
Although just like all Glatorian helmets, it leaves the back of his head exposed.
Here is his body midway through construction. Vorox does not have traditional body armor, just a regular torso turned backwards
here are his feet and fists attached, which leads me to my final favorite detail of the set...
...the fists! All Bara Magna characters with the exception of Fero, have them, and I have to say they are one of the coolest pieces I have seen. It allows for much cooler poses as well as better for playing, especially punching during play
Here he is all but completed. Can't you just picture him digging out of the sand right in front of an unfortunate Agori?
Something about Vorox just makes him look so amazingly cool to me, especially with his fifth apendage
The tail is great as a second attacking weapon and also for balancing during those black-belt, joint breaking kicks
Personally, I like shedding his weapons and putting him in beast mode, ready to leap towards unfortunate travelers.
"Mmmm, I bet they have got enough money for me to buy that Pure-bred Rock steed!"
Vorox enjoys shaking down the wealthy Agori!
Pros:
Great color scheme
Unique helmet
lots of great pieces for MOCing
Just pure awesome
Cons:
Weapon could look a little more...desert
joints break easily
You don't have one yet
Thanks for reading!
I just read a reply pointing out my error in head attachment, I have had this set since it very first came out, like first day it was available at TRU and I'm the kind of person who has to modify all their sets, so I guess I forgot its original build. Sorry guys, won't happen again
