I do this too. I discovered that style in the Parking Garage set (4207) and immediately started changing all my cars. They look great and there is enough variety in the wheels to provide some different looks.

The set itself is great, but I thought it needed a little extra, so I modified it a little and added a trailer. I also replaced the mudguards and used bulky tires (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=56890) to give it a more off-road feel. Matt
