  1. Around here, we don't see too many tandem axle flat deck car haulers, so I decided to convert the model to a single axle with dual wheels. Also, the steering rack didn't provide a very good turning radius and the long axle shafts made the tires shift around in the wheel wells too much. No extra parts were used in this mod with the exception of shorter front axle shafts. The ones that came in the kit can be used, but they stick out by 2 units. I made a number of cosmetic changes too and added an arm to make operating the switch on the battery box easier. I wish they made the switches a little less touchy on the battery box. For the rear, I just removed the existing assembly, used some blue pins to mate the wheels together and then plugged the axles back onto the beams. A 1 unit bushing keeps the tires from rubbing. The one thing I don't like about this is that there is not much support for beam the axles are in, so if you put something heavy on the truck, there might be some flex. The steering rack was extended from 7 to 11 which moves the pivot point closer to the wheels and makes the turning action a little more realistic. A 1/2 bushing is used on the axle to provide clearance. There is a red 2 unit beam that needs to be removed from the steering linkage that comes from the top of the cab, this will enable full travel in both directions. After removing the 2 unit beam, there is actually too much travel, causing tire rub, the two blue axle pins limit the travel.
