I got my digital copy today, waiting on the print. I havent read through the whole thing but it looks really good. Some of it is just the old brickjournal pages but it has been updated and its always nice to have something to go to especially for people new to customizing.

So I've been giving 3D Modeling a shot. I am using Google Sketchup to create my models, Meshlab as a file converter, and Netfabb Studio to fix them. I'm doing everything as trial and error but I've gotten a few to seemingly work and I'm getting a lot better. My first working model: It's a hilt designed to hold a flame piece or other 3mm bar. I have a few different versions of this (all slightly different) but this was my first one that actually worked. Shapeways link My second working model: Darth Maul's lightsaber! This one was a lot harder but it also helped me learn a lot. I had to completely rebuild this three times. I also had some errors in the final version that I was able to fix without rebuilding. Sounds very interesting and fun! A very original idea for minifig contest indeed. I have a question regarding the pictures. We are allowed 5 so overall vignette, front, side and back of the figure, and one of our choice. If using an idea such as raymans with more than one vig can our own picture be of the vig not being judged? If our own picture is taken of the vig being judged again (a close up or different angle) can we move anything in the second shot? And finally are the pictures of your custom figs supposed to be shot together? Edit: Sorry I read some of the rules wrong I think. I thought we were supposed to make two minifigs, one with and one without a costume but I don't think that is the case.
