  1. Hi, JJ There are no specific Viking pieces in this MOC, unless I have missed something ;-)
  2. Definitely keep it one colour & light grey, although I think that it looks cool having 1x2 Dark Grey bricks on the corners like this example from my own work, I have seen it done with SNOT tiles too, which looks most effective. & Besides the arch on the lower floor, which is still cool, I don't think it looks like the Blacksmith's Shop too much at all :-)
  3. Very nice :-) I am not a fan of the mottled stone on this one (& in general, really) but it has a great look & shape - very functional. Can't wait to see the castle version!
  4. Cheers all :-D Yeah the wheels did come from the insectoid range ;-) I was happy to find a good use for them. I always found it amusing that the classic space guys sometimes had equipment & vehicles that resembled weapons but were always called something else to make them more neutral lol. So this isn't a mobile twin laser, it's a communications aray ;-)
  5. Hi everyone, I usually lurk over in the History & Adventure forum but I thought you mught enjoy my latest MOC. This is a little bit of nostalgia for me ;-) Great fun to build too. I collected classic space from the very first series as a kid. The Moonwacker Pic is Brickshelf link Comments appreciated :)
  6. Originally I was going to build an interrior, but I am beginning to think it might just be easier moving on to my next project ;-) I am not a big fan of prefab walls either, I used to use them alot but they really restrict the shapes you are able to create. I like the look of 1x2s too. Thanks once again everyone :-D
  7. Thanks again, everyone! & Nicely spotted, Berry ;-) It's going to be my mission to make bley okay lol Thanks for your honesty, Nathan! I can honestly take that as a compliment ;-) It's certainly hard to argue with someone who can reach out and actually touch the subject matter! In truth my collection is still lacking in the landscape department, originally it was set on a crag of dark grey, but I ran out of bricks :-( & had to reassess. Hey poor scotts! They had those Brochs too, & some great strongholds! Not that I am Scottish at all, my Grandfather is actually Irish :-D
  8. Thanks for your comments everyone :) It took longer to collect the bricks than to build, probably about 2 weeks worth of 1-2 hour sessions a day. It was atually torn down & rebuilt again in that period too.
  9. Hi guys, it's been a while since I posted here but I am still lurking ;-) My latest MOC proved fairly popular with my fellow castlers over on Classic-Castle so I thought I'd share it with you guys too Pic is Brickshelf link About the MOC: "A tower house is a particular type of stone structure, built for defensive purposes as well as habitation. Such buildings were constructed in the wilder parts of Great Britain, particularly in Scotland, and throughout Ireland, beginning in the High Middle Ages and continuing at least up to the 17th century. The remains of such structures are dotted around the Irish and Scottish countryside. Some are still intact and even inhabited today, while others stand as mere shells in a field or on a hillside." - Wikipedia Approximately 1,000 1x2 Bricks went into this MOC & I estimate about 1,500 bricks total. This MOC began as an experiment with irregular shapes, so unfortunetly there is no interrior at this time. Comments welcome :-D
  10. Well, as the online 2007 LEGO catalouge displays the complete viking line, I would say that it will still continue production at least until the end of the 2nd quarter of this year. I doubt we will see anything new however. It is also true that the Viking range is only available on LEGO online & TRU or K-mart.
  11. Thanks for the kind words & encouragement guys :-D That's just the thing I need to inspire me to build another.
  12. Hi all :-) This is my first attempt at building a mech so I have had a great deal of fun nutting out scale, weight & ballance. The MOC is modular, it easily comes apart into the following sections - 2 missile pods, the torso frame, cockpit & leg module. Each of the arms & legs can also be easily removed. I should note that 'mechs are able to be extensively modified in the Battletech universe, as a result my configuration differs somewhat from a standard variant. This particular 'mech is piloted by the Wolf Dragoons Major, D. Lemma. Comments welcome :-) (Pic is link to Brickshelf Gallery)
  13. Very nice! My favorites would have to be the design of the tower & the angled spear / flags and the way you have built up the terrain around the walls - well done
  14. :-D Love the tounge! Well done *pants
  15. Thanks again all. My Oriental Bridge is Japanese Anime styled. For more on the Colossal Castle Contest, see here. Although entries have closed now ;-) I had forestmen in mind when I built the tree house, but it's funny I was thinking Endor & Kashyyyk at the time too. I am going to redo it in brown & make a small treehouse village at some later point :-D I will have to get a whole bunch of Wookies for the alternative Star Wars version ;-)
  16. Um ... yes ... it was I :-$ Thanks heaps for your kind words It's a fabuland element, however I have seen them pop up in other themes since This is my last entry for CCCIV. Take a look at some of my other entries & tell me what you think :) Comments welcome
  17. Your missing my two favorite helms :( - the newer visored helm as shown in my avatar & the original visored helm (my fav by far)
  18. I always thought it would look cool with a gem set in the turban - but I don't think it would fit ...
  19. Very nice. Your Medieval Life & Interior entries are my favorites. They are also 2 of the 3 catagories in which our entries clash & I am not afraid to say that they are going to be hard to beat :) I too am new to the online community & this is also the first comp I have competed in & understand how demanding this contest is ... very! I will have to post up my entries when I am finished the final one in a couple of days. Good luck in the comp! If you guys are interested you can check out the other entries on this page at Classic-Castle :)
  20. Check out the How-To page on Classic-Castle here - http://www.classic-castle.com/howto/articl...vTudorHTML.html for more :)
  21. My suggestion would be Viking Fortress Against the Fafnir Dragon (7019) - heaps of new brown log bricks, a good amount of figs & probably the best bionicle dragon out of the Viking range. Although the longship is a close 2nd ...
  22. I just wonder where any of this information comes from at all, I did Journalism at Uni & one of the golden rules are - if it's not sourced then it's not true ;-)
  23. I really love the knights from the original yellow castle (375). That set got me into Caslte when I was very young & I played that set & those minifigs to death. There are just so many good memories! (He's a little modified in this pic tho) As for my least fav ... I don't think I have one. I don't think there are any bad minfigs - just bad torso / legs / head combinations ;-)
