My wife is a knitter, and I've often discussed the idea of selling Lego instructions with her. In the knitting community, it is quite common to create, publish, and sell patterns online. Prices for patterns are typically in the $5 to $7 range. She estimates it takes approximately 50 hours to write up a pattern for publishing. One of the bigger knitting sites is www.ravelry.com. An example page of a pattern for sale is http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-valentine-sweater . A knitter uploads his/her pattern to Ravelry, and then Ravelry handles the transactions, taking a small percentage of all sales.

I can confirm that the Lego store at the Mall of America has the excavator (8043), crane (8053), and container truck (8052) in stock - at least as of 10:30 am this morning. The excavator is $179.99, but I didn't catch the prices for the other two new sets.

So it's my first Brickworld. Does anyone know how the +1s work for the Brickworld registration? Right now it doesn't look like I can sign up for workshops separate from my main registrant. I don't even know if I can be in the same workshops as my main registrant. I couldn't find anything on the website that would let me know how much autonomy I'd have. Clearly this could've all been avoided if we hadn't signed up together.
