I wanted to update the thread with some color schemes I'm exploring, I would love some input! the smorgasbord the frog the european luxury car sunny day I'm leaning towards the white/tan/charcoal colored one!

I'm aiming for a really whimsical tone with this mecha. The front details are reminiscent of a smiley face and I think the yellow face on the right weapon pod may make it into the final version. It almost looks vaguely frog-like to me, so yellowish green isn't out of the question.

Hero Factory offers a really intuitive and quick paced snap-together system based around skeletal frames and armor shells. It's worth checking out but it's still in its infancy and doesn't really show its full potential until you have around half a dozen sets. Does anyone have any suggestions for a color scheme? I'm thinking of everywhere from straight gray to a sky blue/yellow/orange deco....

I love Bionicle for what it is, but I agree with you that most of the time the two systems clash pretty badly. The Hero Factory system works better with System parts in my opinion. I must say I do really appreciate MOCs that make good use of all Lego systems at once though.

Thanks, yeah the legs were quite a bother to figure out. It's tough to make them structurally strong, well-articulated, and visually pleasing. Getting a minifig to fit in there was a challenge for me too.

This is a reimagining of one of my first MOCs ever. I am trying to pump it as full of character as humanly possible. It is articulated at the waist, hips, knees, shins, feet, and weapon pods. I revised the build tirelessly until it was rock solid, something a kid could actually play with and bang around a little. Please ignore the color scheme for now, I was only using the limited parts I have on hand. Also, I'm open to suggestions for a name.... my photostream on flickr

the only thing i don't like is that it's not rhinox from beast wars. really cool.

Thanks! That's what I was going for, a big scary waddling destructive monster!

Ted-E is a massive robot with the attitude of an angry toddler. This piece was created with Lego Hero Factory parts and stands about 9" tall. The head is my favorite part of the build, it looks really neat in person. Ted-E vs Mick-E my photostream on flickr

Thanks for the comment Geertos. Hero Factory MOCs can be pretty awesome, but most of the time I find that people don't try hard enough to be creative with it and just create "Generic Hero X." I always concentrate on going as far out of the box as possible, especially when limiting myself to this new building system. For example, Mickey here is centered on an upside down torso piece with Drilldozer's chest armor as shorts (although I really wish they made that piece in red already...). Regarding rounder ears, there's not much in the Hero Factory parts palette that would look any better. There's a Bionicle piece that would work perfectly, but I don't have it on hand and I think it looks fine for now.

EDIT (10/5/2011): Hero Factory Mickey Mouse (or as I like to call him, MECH-E Mouse) began life as an oddball quick build, but I grew attached to the project and decided to improve/refine it. The main areas of concern for me were the lack of buttons on his pants and the empty, abstract look of his head. I finally got some minifig skeleton legs to mount the yellow buttons on, and the head has been completely reworked with additional Technic/Bionicle parts. So here's what he used to look like.... ....and here's what he looks like now: The ears are fully articulated to create the same illusion that happens in the animation, where they roll along the top of his head in frontal view at all times. Much better, I think. my photostream on flickr

Yes let me apologize for that, I'm 23 and should know better then that. i get so excited when i add a replay, i just rush and post before i i reread it. Ill try to do better. Thank u for taking time to take pictures of the combiner models. I meant the pictures of the combiners not the actual thing, but it was hard to tell that from my rushed post. :'(

Thanks for the comments guys. The trick with the torso is to use 2 torso pieces doubled up on each other. The piece in the front takes care of the legs/abdomen by utilizing both the joints on the "shoulders" and "hips," while the one in the back is just takes care of the arms. Thanks for looking!

I built this guy as I was disassembling another moc of mine and I'm happy with how he turned out. I have a lot of fun trying to build filled-out, bulky creations with the new Hero Factory parts because it allows for so much organic movement and lends itself to highly poseable models. My intention was to make him look semi-humanoid, but with "wacky machine" proportions thrown in the mix. Apologies for the low quality photos.

Awesome wings on Sharon A., simple but totally effective. I'll have to remember that.

Nothing "realistic" about this in terms of parts usage, but here's my take:

Hey guys, so I gave this MOC a slight re-haul and took a new set of photos. The guns are more accurate now and the legs are longer so it's not so squat. I'd like to know what people think!

This is a creation based on the prawn mech suit from District 9. I've wanted to have this design in plastic form since I first saw the film in theaters, and with these Hero Factory 2.0 parts I think I've built a suitable substitute. I was able to achieve the thick, bulky look by using two torso pieces, thus giving myself double the attachment points. Comments and crits welcome. HF_PrawnMech - a set on Flickr

I agree. What we need rather than new armor pieces is new skeleton pieces. We saw several unreleased skeleton pieces in that recent developer video, I hope they trickle out in upcoming waves.

This is a Lego Hero Factory MOC inspired by Beast Wars Transmetal II Megatron. As you can see it is fully articulated and transforms from dragon to robot with no part swapping/removal. http://www.flickr.com/photos/35782616@N04/sets/72157626064106490/

Hey guys just an update to let you know I edited the first post with a link to images that should help you replicate this build if you want. Hope it's worth it.

Thanks for the input, that whenua turaga mask is pretty dope. I updated the first post with a couple more pics.

Any ideas for a better head? I'll certainly take suggestions.

Thanks! That's who this is, his name in BW is Optimus Primal.
