  1. The Legonater If it's a Imperial Shuttle you mean then yes we haven't got one in a while. Otherwise we've got shuttles every know and then. Why a UCS Imperial Shuttle? Well... Becuase there are adult builders like me who wants a mini figure scaled UCS model just like the UCS Millennium Falcon. Even if we're a small part of the LEGO community we also deserve to get stuff as the younger audience get plenty of every year. But it's true that the problem with the UCS models for the most is the price. Yeah, the interiors that TLC has put in the "so called" playsets are at best amusing to a 8 year old. sok117 I agree. Indianajones Yeah, I got it but even for me as a adult collector and builder it was dang expensive. Especially since Sweden/Europe almost have to pay twice as much per set compared to what the cost is in the US of A. k peek 2000 To me at least they're both good enough on the outside. The only thing I don't like about the new Tantive IV is that good for nothing interior. No interior etc in the UCS Tantive IV... You've clearly missed the point that it's UCS. What interior in the new Tantive IV? If that interior even impress a 8 year old you'd be lucky. Ras74 Me too. Sigh. Aeroeza I totally agree with you. Let both adults and kids enjoy LEGO. Well said. Wow. Well written. You make some really good points in what you wrote. I assume you're a adult collector and builder as well as I am. Thank you. I actually stopped posting in LEGO forums because of the frequent flame wars that's going on every now and them. There a whole lot of nasty people who wouldn't dare to be nasty in real life. Nah. I'm tired of spending time in court so lets avoid a flame war. OneSnowTrooper Well said. I agree. TheBrickHitHouse You're statement is hilarious at best. It has nothing to do with reality. I could've explained why but I won't bother. cavegod Interesting point of view. Nice AT-AT by the way. Darth Legolas Agreed. It's a nice ship. drdavewatford Agreed again. A UCS Imperial Shuttle scaled to the mini figures like the Millennium Falcon. Clone O'Patra Well said. LEGOMAN132 I truly agree with you. Big Cam I agree with you but a set like that would be bloody expensive. Then again TLC's playsets has never ever impressed me as a adult and I think they're mediocre at best. Why I as a adult like the UCS models First and foremost I am a model kit collector and builder and I've been that for the most part of my life. I used to build the old MPC Star Wars model kits but even if I were a wee lad back then I never ever really liked them for several reasons. As those model kits were more like children's toys than scale model kits lacking correct shapes and details as well as being in a whole lot of different scales I wasn't too pleased with them at all. At that time I thought it was truly strange since there was some really amazing high quality scale models of military subjects etc already way back then but Science Fiction subjects were mostly made for and aimed at small children. This has of course somewhat changed today with all the amazing Star Wars scale model kits from Japanese Fine Molds that allows you to build to example really nice dioramas of for example a Rebel Base. These ideals I've somewhat brought with me into my collecting and building of the Star Wars LEGO line. I've collected and built the LEGO Star Wars line ever since the first mini figure sets were released way back in 1999 and I've managed to get a "huge" collection to this date. Seeing what could be made out of LEGO bricks I was truly amazed by this fact and I started to collect and build the LEGO Star Wars line. However... From the very beginning I thought it was a bit sad as a adult that larger ships like the Millennium Falcon, Slave 1 and Imperial Shuttle etc was "heavily <insert that tiresome argument>" and not correctly scaled. Of course I knew that LEGO was being made for and aimed at children but over the years I come to learn how big a thing LEGO collecting and building was amongst adults like myself all over the world and we basically got acknowledgment with the UCS line way back in 2000. At first I thought it was really cool to see 1:28 scale UCS models of smaller one man ships like the X-Wing Fighter and T.I.E. Interceptor and I as a adult had high hopes for the UCS line. Then along line came UCS models of capitol ships like the Tantive IV and Imperial Star Destroyer in different scales and I thought that was cool to. Then we got the mini figure scale UCS model of the Millennium Falcon that actually were in "true" scale with the mini figure X-Wing, Y-Wing, B-Wing and A-Wing Fighters etc that opened up a whole lot of possibilities for me as a adult collector. Now adults that have the money, room and time can for example build a Hoth Rebel Hanger with ships that are in scale with each other much like model kit collector and builders now a days can do. That's why I hope that the UCS Imperial Shuttle is a mini figure scale UCS model like the UCS MIllennium Falcon. Then again I truly like large (LEGO) model kits. Sweden - The One... And Only.
  2. I've updated my previous post... ...about what's UCS or not and developed it further with some good points about it all. AwesomeKenobiClone Sure. But... "And if memory serves me right... TLC said somewhere that the UCS model of the Millennium Falcon was the "first" UCS model to be scaled to their mini figures and as far as I know TLC never ever said for example that Cloud City was a UCS model except for some member here or there that claimed that some at LEGO Shop at Home customer service said that Cloud City was a UCS model. As far as I'm concerned the people at Shop at Home doesn't know too much about the product line." KimT Thanks. Yeah, it's been a real mix up. In the beginning at least they did print UCS on UCS model boxes but dropped it later. Dang. I haven't looked at the boxes for ages. Cavegod I seriously doubt that the shuttle will have a Endor landing pad. I can't imagine TLC doing the whole structure of it. I believe that it then would be way too boring a set for most people. roxio Interesting. I had no idea about that. But I guess it was because of some special deal between TLC Europe and Argos shops. Aeroeza Thank you. I haven't been posting here for over three years now but the discussion of what's UCS or not and a possible UCS Imperial Shuttle was too tempting to avoid. Interesting. Peeron also list the UCS models that way except for Darth Maul Bust and Yoda that they classify as sculptures. I myself list them that way as well. Yeah. Why TLC dropped the UCS title on classic UCS models is a mystery. Good points. I also hope that the 10212 Imperial Shuttle is a classic UCS model. Sweden - The One... And Only.
  3. Regarding what's UCS or not The first UCS models that TLC made were 7181 TIE Interceptor and 7191 X-Wing Fighter that were released in 2000. These two UCS sets were widely distributed to toy shops and as far as I know they didn't sell good enough to be widely distrbuted (or at least not here in Sweden were they sat on shelves until they cleared them out for a 50 % discount). My half qualified guess is that it was the case all over the world as they were made for and aimed at the more adult builders and collector that's supposed to be 10 % of all LEGO sales. My half qualified guess is supported by the fact that 10018 Darth Maul Bust and 10019 Rebel Blockade Runner Tantive IV and (almost) every other UCS model from there on has been exclusives only available through LEGO Shop at Home and LEGO's own stores. This was probably done because UCS models sold good enough if they were sold directly from LEGO without any middle hands as toy shops. As LEGO exclusives only available through LEGO Shop at Home and LEGO's own stores have a 5 digit item number the UCS models from here on got a 5 digit number as "all" else exclusives did and have. Then we have the "mini figure sets" 10123 Cloud City, 10131 TIE Collection, 10144 Sandcrawler, 10178 Motorized Walking AT-AT, 10188 Death Star, 10198 Tantive IV and 10195 Republic Dropship with AT-OT Walker that probably also became exclusives because they were too obscure and expensive to be widely distributed through toy shops. So the reason for these sets having a 5 digit item number is just because they are exclusives only available through LEGO Shop at Home and LEGO's own stores and "not" because they're UCS models. They're just exclusive mini figure sets and nothing else. When looking at the LEGO Shop at Home webpage over the years one have found that the above "exclusive mini figure sets" have been listed under the cathegory "Ultimate Collector Series" which has added to the confusion of what's UCS or not. But from what I've observed about these cathegories they weren't really "pure" as a Clone Wars set could've been listed under Star Wars Classic and vice versa and so on so I've never ever taken these cathegories too seriously. I don't even think that TLC has taken these cathegories too seriously themselves so therefore UCS models and exclusive mini figure sets have been listed under the same cathegory. The fact that the last widely distributed UCS model, or rather sculpture, to toy shops in 2002 were 7194 Yoda was probably becuase LEGO thought the sculpture was "cute enough" to sell good enough to be widely distributed but here in Sweden at least I saw it collecting dust until I think it was last year at one toy shop. Sure, a whole lot of UCS models have been found on clearance at toy shops but that's because LEGO's clearing out their stocks and werehouses. And if memory serves me right... As far as I'm concerned the people at Shop at Home doesn't know too much about the product line. I still remember when I got 10018 Darth Maul Bust in september of 2001 and probably was one of the first in the world to receive it early and made a post about that over at From Bricks to Bothans where one hell of a flame war against me started amongst members and then webpage owner Tim Soap. According to Tim Soap and the president of TLC in America (or whoever it was) this was impossible becuase of this or that megablocks they said. Well... A few weeks later it turned out that one hand doesn't know what the other is doing as TLC in America appearently didn't know what TLC in Europe did or didn't. And did I get an excuse for that? Hell no. Anyways... So until TLC makes a official announcement don't read to much into what's UCS or not. So for me at least as a adult builder and collector the UCS models are UCS models and the exclusive mini figure sets are exclusive mini figure sets. I strongly feel that TLC should separate these two cathegories of UCS models and exclusive mini figure sets and keep them as separate brands if that's the correct word. UCS models for the more adult collector and exclusive mini figure sets not suitable for wide distribution for all of us builders and collectors. I believe that this discussion about what's UCS or not started when the fan boys started to read too much in to set number and cathegories over at LEGO Shop at Home. Maybe because they wanted a mini figure set like for example Cloud City to be ultimate when they unfortunately couldn't afford a true UCS model. Regarding 10212 UCS Imperial Shuttle I truly hope it's a UCS model scaled to the mini figures just like the UCS Millennium Falcon. At a piece count of 2503 it's certainly not impossible as it's less detailed then the Falcon and if it's based around a Technic armature it should be a decent model. A dwarfed mini figure version made with just 234 pieces like 7166 Imperial Shuttle and with a 2269 piece Endor landing pad hell no. The idea of UCS models scaled to the mini figures just like the UCS Millennium Falcon is a exciting product range for me as a adult builder and collector at 42 years of age. I'd just love to see the Imperial Landing Craft, Sandcrawler, AT-ST, AT-AT, Boba Fett's Slave 1, Jabba's Sail Barge, Sith Infiltrator, Gungan Sub, Trade Federation MTT, Jango Fett's Slave 1, Clone Turbo Tank, The Twilight, Count Dooku's Solar Sailer, Republic Attack Shuttle and Separatist's Shuttle as UCS or correctly scaled models to the mini figures. 4. My full report... ...from and about my Star Wars LEGO exhibition in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden is now finally done and added to the beginning of my first and innitial post so go check it out people if you're interested in the full story behind it all. iotacode Thank You for those kind words and you're most welcome. a53021 Thank You. Yes, I've spent a whole lot of money on Star Wars LEGO sets as we in Europe and other countries around the world have to pay outrageous prices on LEGO so that the US of A can have them at almost 50% off. It doesn't matter what The LEGO Company says or explains about this fact as I don't buy that bs or any bs for that matter. Prices ARE outrageous. Well... As I wrote in my now updated report I've bought most of my sets, except the LEGO Shop at Home exclusives and a very few other not released here in Sweden that I bought on eBay, at "Barnens Hus" (The Childrens House) in the Birsta mall area about 10 minutes drive North of Sundsvall city. The prices on Star Wars LEGO sets and LEGO sets in general are lower at "Barnens Hus" (The Childrens House) than the suggested retail price and the prices on LEGO Shop at Home so I've actually saved some bucks/Euros over the years compared to the suggested retail prices. Sale? What's that? Just kidding and the answer is basically no. I think I've seen Star Wars LEGO sets on sale at most a handful of times here in Sundsvall, and in Sweden for that matter, in toyshops and toystores and that was years ago during the first couple of years after the Star Wars LEGO line was released in 1999. The handful of times that Star Wars LEGO sets were on sale years ago I already had them. And to buy multiples were also out of the question because when I had money they were sold out and/or the boxes left so badly beaten up that no collector would've bought them as pieces could be missing. But in the US of A sets aren't just 50% off our prices but go on sale as well! Discount? What's that? Just kidding and the answer is basically no. The only discount I've ever gotten is from "Torbjörn" who is the owner of the "Leklust" (Play lust) toyshop in Örnsköldsvik here in Sweden where my Star Wars exhibition was held. I got The Clone Wars sets 7673 Magna Guard Starfighter, 7674 V-19 Torrent, 7675 AT-TE Walker and 7676 Republic Attack Gunship from him at cost or around 50% off suggested retail price as a thanks for lending out my Star Wars collection to them as well as a few other encuragements like free tickets for all of us for the Star Wars exhibition. Sweden - The One... And Only.
  5. Natman4000 Me too. As I wrote earlier they weren't mine. Just a loan to the Leklust toyshop from The LEGO Company. I understand that. Who wouldn't want them all being a LEGO and Star Wars fan. Especially all you younger Star Wars LEGO fans. As I'm 40 years old/young and got a pretty good income from working I've been lucky enough to be able to afford to collect the LEGO Star Wars line but it hasn't been cheap as LEGO is almost twice as expensive in Sweden as it's in the US of A. LEGOscum/Jeremy Thanks and wow. From what I've seen over at Rebelscum you're an avid collector as well. Oh, I wish they're were mine too but they aren't. *Sniff* No. Well... Actually you can. My appartment is invaded by Star Wars LEGO and H0/1:87 scale Model Railway stuff. I'm sleeping on the couch as the bed is usually full of stuff. Thank God my girlfriend understands me. darkrebellion Thank you. Yes I feel very privilaged to have been asked to do this Star Wars LEGO exhibition and I'm proud of it as well. It was great fun to meet all those children, teenagers and adults and talk to them as well as knowing that they really liked my exhibition. Yes. The LEGO Company just "shared" the Jango Fett and R2-D2 statues. They were "loaned" to the Leklust Toyshop. Oh, I wish that too. But even if The LEGO Company would've offered me to buy the statues I just simply couldn't afford them as I guess the price for them would've been up to 10000.00 Euro a piece and I'm not rich just working hard. No. I don't collect the exclusives. I forgot to mention that earlier. As I live in Sweden there's simply no chance at all to get those exclusives when they're available and with the prices they go for on say eBay I don't pay that much. simonjedi No hard feelings. I was just being a bit ironic. My infamous very dark and black humor. Regarding MOCs I'd just love to do some like Guybrush/Gareth's Ultimate Collector's Series MOCs but I don't have the money, time or room for it. But who knows? Maybe one day. Sweden - The One... And Only.
  6. CopMike Yeah, we sure do. Thanks. Yeah, that would've been cool. But... Who knows? Another time maybe. Thanks again. The owner of Leklust Torbjörn made a guess that my exhibit in itself brought 10000 visitors to his toyshop. It proved to be very popular as some families thought it was better then the Star Wars exhibition. I were there twice and Lord all Mighty. From both second one I was there until I left I was quite busy not only talking to children and teenagers but adults as well as they were even more excited than the kids. Sweden - The One... And Only.
  7. KimT Thanks. Almost. I'm behind with a few sets. I'm currently missing: 7666 Hoth Rebel Base, 7679 Republic Fighter Tank, 7680 The Twilight, 7681 Separatist Spider Droid, 10143 Death Star II, 10178 Mototrized Walking AT-AT, 10186 General Grievous 10188 Death Star. Otherwise I got all of the sets released so far including box variations and mini sets. Stuff like key chains, magnets and pens aren't included, I do collect them as well but I havn't a complete collection of any of them, as I don't count them as Star Wars LEGO sets. I don't collect value packs, collector's set, cases and maquettes. Worth to mention is that I only collect sets released in (Swedish) European boxes. Another thing worth to mention is that there wasn't room enough in the display cases for my entire collection why not all sets were on display. TheBrickHitHouse I know what you mean... However... Those glass display cases aren't my own. Those were especially made for my exhibition by the mall and Leklust toyshop and are owned by them as well. At home I display my models in my book shelf safe from our arch enemy DUST. Sweden - The One... And Only.
  8. simonjedi I know. I'm adult enough at 40 years old to know that the pictures were way to big for a whole lot of reasons like having posting and starting topics on different Internet communities as well as writing articles for years. All of the pictures are now resized as I was working on it when you posted your reply. I just wasn't as fast as you. Ehh? MOCs? Where you get that from? Glad you're slightly disappointed though. I can delete my post if you wish so. No. Jango Fett and R2-D2 aren't mine. They're a "loan" from TLC. If they had been mine Jango Fett would've been "true" 1:1 scale. Sweden - The One... And Only.
  9. My Star Wars LEGO exhibition in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden from June to October/November 2008 Here's my report from and about "My Star Wars LEGO exhibition in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden from June to October/November 2008" in conjunction with the Star Wars exhibition held there from June to September 2008. How it all started Born in the glorious year of 1968 and growing up during the 1970's I got introduced to LEGO early on in my life when my grandmother Thyra, my mother Ruth and my father Leif usually gave me some LEGO sets for my birthdays and Christmas. As a child I got some really cool sets that I still to this day have saved but when becoming a teenager suddenly LEGO was something real nerdy just for nerds and something that was made just for small children so with a sad heart I left the LEGO hobby dreaming about getting all the wonderful and exciting LEGO sets that I saw in catalogues as a teenager until I went on in life and forgot about it all growing older. The discovery In I think it was april 1999 when I was at my younger sister Anette's place on a family dinner with her and our younger brother Fredrik's families I happened to discover a LEGO catalogue for that year and to my very big surprise I discovered that The LEGO Company were about to release LEGO sets from the first Star Wars trilogy as well as Episode I: The Phantom Menace. I was quite schocked by the fact that The LEGO Company had bought a license to make products of someone else creations especially as it was from a very successful series of movies as the Star Wars films. At the same time I was quite excited about these brand new Star Wars LEGO sets as they looked real good being made out of LEGO parts and I started to remember my childhood days building LEGO sets and doing MOCs. But being 31 years old I soon woke up and realized that I was way to old to buy, build and collect these Star Wars LEGO sets and went onto participating at my sister's family dinner and forgot about it all. The Very first Star Wars LEGO set Move on to the autumn of October 1999. I was bored and life in general sucked elephants dong. I was in the center of Sundsvall city one afternoon and passed by the local toyshop "Lekplaneten" (Play Planet) and looked at their window display of Star Wars LEGO sets. I looked at the display and after a few minutes I thought to myself "What the heck. I'm going to buy one of those Star Wars LEGO sets." and went in to the toyshop. I was looking at the Star Wars LEGO shelf and eventually decided to buy 7151 Sith Infiltrator from Episode I: The Phantom Menace. At the counter I felt a bit ashamed and blushed while muttering something about buying it for one of my nieces as a birthday present. After that I went home and sat down in the living room and started to build the Sith Infiltrator and after a hour or so I was finished and truly amazed of the Star Wars ship made out of LEGO parts. The beginning of my Star Wars LEGO collection As the Christmas of 1999 was just around the corner my younger sister Anette and her two daughters Angelica and Patricia asked me what I wanted for Christmas and it was at that moment I decided to start collecting Star Wars LEGO sets as I later on Christmas Eve got some sets from them as Christmas gifts. It was also at that time I bought all of the at that time released sets from the Star Wars saga. As the years went on I bought each and every Star Wars LEGO set that were released every year as well as receiving some from my nieces Angelica, Patricia and Jennifer as well as other family members as Christmas gifts and birthday presents. Over the years I've bought most of my Star Wars LEGO sets from a toystore by the name "Barnens Hus" (The Childrens House) about 10 minutes drive from Sundsvall and I've spent thousands of Euro there except for the LEGO Shop at Home exclusives of course. The phone call Over the years I've become a quite well known AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO) and LEGO collector at the "Barnens Hus" (The Childrens House) toystore so the owners and most of the regular employees know me a little bit and I think it was in May this year (2008) that I received a phone call from one of the ladies in charge of the LEGO department at the toystore. She told me that she had talked to the guy who's the LEGO representative, that travells around the Northern parts of Sweden checking out that the shops and stores got what they need and taking orders from them, about some event and my Star Wars LEGO collection and that he wanted to talk to me. A surprise As the lady in charge of the LEGO department at "Barnens Hus" (The Childrens House) didn't really remember exactly what the LEGO representative had said except from wanting to talk to me I was truly wondering what it was all about so I called him and got a real good surprise. As I've met the LEGO representative a few times at "Barnens Hus" (The Childrens House) and talked to him about future releases as well as my collection of Star Wars LEGO sets, he explained to me that he had told a toyshop owner in Örnsköldsvik, where the Star Wars exhibition were to take place from June to September 2008, about my collection and that they had come up with the idea of a Star Wars LEGO exhibition at the toyshop in conjunction with the Star Wars exhibition. The idea takes shape So later I called "Torbjörn" who's the owner of the "Leklust" (Play lust) toyshop in Örnsköldsvik and he explained the idea of having a Star Wars LEGO exhibition at his toyshop in conjunction with the Star Wars exhibition and after a few phone calls working out the details I agreed to his proposition. So in June "Torbjörn" and his wife came to visit me and to pick up my collection so we packaged everything in large cardboard boxes and a few days later I took the bus up to Örnsköldsvik to set up my collection in the specially ordered glass display cases that they had for my collection to protect it from thieves, damages and dust during the exhibition. From second one I started to set up my collection until the moment I took the bus home I was not only busy setting up my collection but also busy talking to families, children, teenagers and adults as well as a reporter and the photograph from the local newspaper who were going to do a article about my Star Wars LEGO exhibition. Unfortunately the glass display cases were too small to make room for my entire collection so that a few had to be slightly rebuilt and some more had to be ordered but still my entire collection were never ever on display at the exhibition at the toyshop. My Star Wars LEGO exhibition in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden It was on display from June right before the Star Wars exhibition opened to I think it was October or November after the exhibition had packed up and left Örnskökdsvik, Sweden and it turned out to be a great success according to "Torbjörn" who is the owner of the "Leklust" (Play lust) toyshop who made a guesstimate that it on its own had 10000 visitors. According to "Torbjörn" a whole lot of families had said that they thought that my Star Wars LEGO exhibition was better then the Star Wars exhibition and that's something I'm truly proud of knowing that they and a whole lot of other people truly enjoyed seeing (perhaps) the or at least one of Swedens largest Star Wars LEGO collections. As my father Leif, my best buddy Daniel and I went to see the Star Wars exhibition in August I had the chance to also visit my Star Wars LEGO exhibition at the "Leklust" (Play lust) toyshop a second time to experience its success. Final thoughts I feel truly proud and honored to have been asked to do my very own Star Wars LEGO exhibition in conjunction with the Star Wars exhibition that were held in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden from June to september 2008. It was great fun setting it up and it was just as fun to meet all these families, children, teenagers as well as adults and talk to them about my collection, Star Wars LEGO and LEGO in general as well as the Star Wars phenomenon. However, I felt and still feel that more could've been done like me being there every other week or once a month but I was never asked to even if I made the proposition of being able to do so. There was also talk about a Television or radio exclusive but what happened to that I still to this day don't know what happened to. Except for "loaning" out the Jango Fett and R2-D2 statues to the "Leklust" (Play lust) toyshop The LEGO Company were never ever involved with or in my Star Wars LEGO exhibition and that's a pitty. I could have done so much more with my Star Wars LEGO exhibition but resources and/or interest were limited for one or the other reason but all in all I'm pretty pleased. But this summer, when the Star Wars exhibition visits Örnsköldsvik, Lasse Olsson catches on with his own Star Wars exhibition. In LEGO. We walk in through Port 9 in central Örnsköldsvik and to the lower level outside Leklust. There more then just children gets faschinated where Lasse Olsson, from Sundsvall, unpacks his enormous collection. There's a swarm of LEGO and for the uninitiated it's impossible to comprehend how a human being manages to put together everything at the right place. But it's only the summers heat that make Lasse's forhead sweaty and soon the exhibition takes shape. " I've always been interested by LEGO and building model kits. There's certainly a risk to be classified as a nerd, but that risk I'm willing to take, says Lasse and whipes the sweat from his forhead". His interest for Science Fiction is obvious and he looks nearly lyrical when we talk about old television successes like Space: 1999 and Star Trek the Original Series. And wether he's delighted about the ongoing Star Wars exhibition we don't even need to ask about. "It's fantastic and when I was asked to if I could exhibit my collection in Örnsköldsvik this summer I thought it was pretty suitable says Lasse who has close to 140 sets to show off". A appetizer well worth a visit. There you go people. That's my report from My Star Wars LEGO exhibition in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden from June to October/November 2008. Now I'm just waiting to get my Star Wars LEGO collection back in a few weeks time. Sweden - The One... And Only.
  10. UltraPrime That's probably because there wasn't funds on your account. But I seriously doubt that it's legal for LEGO Shop at Home to reserve it for two weeks. Three days approxmately I've heard of and experienced myself. Anyway. It's really bad business practice as they won't ship it until October. Really bad. casewindu At least he could report them to the BBB - Better Business Buro (did I spell that right?) for faul play. lego2000 I'll be (village of the) damned! Well, thank you! Are you trying to sweet talk me? ;-) Sweden - The One... And Only.
  11. About no interior in this UCS model What's with all this talk that it's a shame that there's no interior in this model? Doesn't people understand why there's no interior? Seems so. This has been brought up with both the Rebel Blockade Runner and the Imperial Star Destroyer and people have complained. Why is there no interior? The answer is quite simple. Just look at the UCS Millennium Falcon once again. It's huge. It has complex shapes. There's the answer. Don't understand? Okay, I'll explain. For a model this huge there need to be a strong armature to keep it together. A strong armature takes a whole lot of room inside the model itself. The original design a.k.a. the original filming miniature has really complex shapes. It's here the second purpose of the armature comes in. The UCS Millennium Falcon is built around this armature just like the UCS Imperial Star Destroyer. The armatures second purpose is to make it possible to do all these complex shapes as they hook onto the armature. Hence no interior. But people doesn't seem to understand all this. It's designed the way I thought about doing my MOC one years ago. Sure, people can try and MOC one into the model and I'll say good luck. In order to fit a interior into the model you basically got to remove all or parts of the armature. Then you'll have a model that you'll have to design a totally different type of armature for. Good luck with that and then try and keep the whole ship together and look as good as we're getting it out of the box. Sure, there are some MOCs out there that has done all this but are they as good as 10179 and do they have the same type of armature? Nope. They don't. Then again 10179 with a interior would probably be just as bad and just as poorly designed as the interior of 6211 Imperial Star Destroyer. Has anyone for example seen a UCS Rebel Blockade Runner with a "real" interior? I sure haven't. This UCS Millennium Falcon sure was a great surprise even if it's way too expensive and out of reach for the most of the ones who wants it. It's scaled to the mini figures, and there's a cockpit for them, but still it's a UCS model so expecting a interior in it is just wishful thinking. Imagine the cost of a one with a interior. No, it's clearly designed as a model, even if it's scaled to the mini figures, and UCS models has always been about the outside and not the inside so it's no play set at all. Sure, you can swoosh it, God how I hate that silly term as I can imagine some running around swooshing in their underwear, but who in their right mind would do that and risk dropping it on the floor? I wouldn't. It'll be for display only. Interior or not you fan boys should be happy that it's scaled to the mini figures at least. Even I think that it's a bit cool as I actaully suggested such models way back in the days when intelligent discussions were possible at FBTB. I'm pre-ordering one in the next couple of days. But it'll hurt my wallet. Oh well. Sweden - The One... And Only.
  12. copmike Yeah, I bet they will. Anyway. The way it works is that LEGO Shop at Home checks your card/bank account for some reason. Either to see if the card/bank account actually exists or if you actually got money. Then they reserve the amount of the order, but it's not drawn from your card/bank account, for say around three days until it's un-reserved again and you can use the money. Pretty stupid business practice if you ask me but that's how they do it. No other company I've done business with use these methods. Then when LEGO Shop at Home eventually can ship the item(s) when they're in stock they'll charge your card/bank account for real. But if you don't have the money they can't charge you and you'll be notified by e-mail. Then you got a few days to make sure you got the money available. If you don't they'll cancel the order. To me at least it's a real hustle. Usually a company accept your pre-order without this type of weird business pratice and only charge you when the item actually is available. But TLC is TLC and does it the other way around. Sweden - The One... And Only.
  13. Grevious Let me be the first to say: What a excellent review. Way different from the ever so boring and usual stuff. What makes your review superior to all others is because of your use of words and thoughts. You're using your brain as well as thoughts and feelings and that's intelligent. Unlike all others I've got no need what so ever for pictures as I already know what it looks like. Thoughts and feelings are what interests me at least. Once again: What a excellent review. Finally something intelligent. Two thumbs up. I mean it. I'm 100% honest. Keep up the damn good work. By the way... If someone else says something else. Just ignore them. They ain't worth it at all. 14. KhoRne Sweden, the guy and not the country, is still here but has been very busy with my girlfriend entertaining her while she was here until Tuesday this week but now I'm back. Sarg Kulo I bet you do. From a 10134 UCS Y-Wing Attack Starfighter review to arguing and finally nude jokes is very much a From Bricks to Bothans style of conversation that I thought most on here were above. This thread of mine was hijacked for some really dumb and lame a** jokes. Maybe this website should change name to From Eurobricks to Bothans. It certainly reminds me of the braindead level of From Bricks to bothans. Starwars4J I guess he is. Sir Dillon Friendly? Yeah right. kimt PERFECT! Huh? That's a extra ordinary claim. It's not that perfect. Beagle Yeah, this place is starting to get more and more like From Bricks to Bothans. Yeah again, I wonder why message boards always get hostile and rambling. No, Eurobricks ain't that perfect. This thread proves this fact. Thank you and you're most welcome about my review. Yes, it's a very nice set indeed but the scale as well as shape and details are totally off as my review says. But they've already made a re-designed Mini Figure or System scale Y-Wing Fighter as seen in my review and made it UCS by basically stretching it out. Go take a look in my review once again. kikuichimonji Did you even read it to begin with? I guess not. vader316 No, I'm "saying" that you're not fair as a admin. I said it before and I'll say it once again and I'll even quote myself: "...ApophisV stepped in and said a few worlds which is enough for me at least but what do I know." I don't have any problems with others opinnion as they're like a a**... Everyone has one. Well, if you don't then why did you step in when ApophisV already had explained what it's all about? I certainly understood him the first time he said what he had to say. I felt that xwingyoda was rude and that he was mocking my review without any good reasons. That's the way it is. And I reacted to it. No matter how many smileys he put in there. Why? Because other people has done it before. I won't go into that as I assume that you'll understand. A lame a** joke like that is only funny once and not twice. In my opinnion at least. If I like what a person has written I compliment them on it and if I don't I shut the h*** up. If still has the need to comment on it then I make sure I've got something constructive to say about it but I'm not rude or mock people. But that's me. Period. I got this e-mail from someone who will remain anonymous and I quote: "I'm sure you don't know who I am, but I'd like to let you know that I agree with you about the matter entirely, and it seems that them all saying you "overreacted" is just them sticking together, and being elitist jerks. Even if you had overreacted, you wouldn't have if yoda hadn't made that comment. He was just plain rude, and didn't even apologize for it. Some people's egos are too big for them  Well, I enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to make it." So did I overreact? Doesn't seem so. Over at the Swedish starwars.nu website and forums for Swedish fans of the Star Wars universe I was asked by a admin to write some articles to spice up their forums with new and interesting threads and my first was Den Ultimata McFarlane Movie Maniacs tr
  15. vader316 Is there really a need in this case for a second (2) Admin to have to step into the missunderstanding or whatever it is between xwingyoda and me? No. Surely he's a big boy who can take care of himself as he's a Admin on Eurobricks. As he wasn't here at the time of my reply to his post ApophisV stepped in and said a few words which is enough for me at least but what do I know. I just answered to his post making my point and making myself clear as well as editing my reply to xwingyoda and that's all. It's not like it's a p*****g contest you know. If a missunderstanding or even a conflict occurs the very best thing to do is to look into why it happened and then try to solve it without taking sides. A truly good and fair Admin does all that. He doesn't take sides. He plainly says: "It's a missunderstanding. This is how we solve it. Lets leave it to rest now boys." Read my post number 9 in this topic and then tell me if I'm making a joke or if I'm serious or even being sarcastic. Hard to tell huh? I figured it was. Who knows. But I do. Then maybe you can understand my point of view. Your friend xwingyoda did the very same thing. I'm not the only one who felt he was rude towards me. I'm not even the only one who feels that you guys team up against me. Then again it's enough with one Admin handling the case and in this case it's xwingyoda as he can speak for himself. If Eurobricks are a much better place then From Bricks to Bothans then maybe you should start acting much better. Do as you please and Bananarama me or even delete my review completely. With these words I lay the matter to rest but keep in mind that if Eurobricks is the place to be then let it be the place to be. Matter closed. A big thank you to a unknown friend. You know who you are. Thank you again. Sweden - The One... And only.
  16. xwingyoda I've edited my first reply to you. Go read it if you want a answer. Oh... And by the way. I'm soon to be 38 years young. And I act like 38. And no. I don't Swosh around naked. Sweden - The One... And Only.
  17. ApophisV No. I didn't. I was just annoyed with the type of answer xwingyoda gave because it's ever so common. Well, in a way you're right at least about deleting my post entirely but when the very first reply is about falling asleep and comparing in very weird ways instead of something constructive one might as well give up. When The LEGO Company first announced and released the LEGO Star Wars line way back in 1999 websites and forums shortly after surfaced on the Internet for the kids and adult fans of this line. At that time MANY years ago it was fun and rewarding to be a part of a community like these and one could meet people that one became penpal with and one could have really great conversations. But it didn't take too long before it all started to fall apart and a whole lot of people might accuse the younglings but even the adult fans as well as the admins are to blame for this. From Bricks to Bothans are the prime example of this and for the ones who seen or knows me from there knows what I mean without going into a lengthy discussion. From Bricks to Bothans has become a club for the admirers of themselves with fans who are self proclaimed admins and from time to time one can sense that type of feeling over here as well. That's why I got pissed. If Eurobricks is supposed to better and more serious people should start and act more better and serious. Turd like what's going on at From Bricks to Bothans doesn't belong here if you're better and more serious. Period. Yeah, I've noticed that reviews published of lately on here have been more visual but you're a bit wrong as the intellectual age of the reviewer and reader sometimes have something to do with visual stuff. Most kids and teenagers as well as adults of today want visual stuff because they've become way too lazy to engage themselves in something more indeept. Sign of the times we live in I guess. My girlfriend Eva Katarina is a grade school teacher and a well educated one and we have often talked about this fact from time to time and as she's quite different then me she still sees the same thing. A very good review to me at least is both huge and well written and visual. Yes, a huge and well written review is way different from a just visual review but I live by a simple rule and that's "if you don't like it well don't read and post complaints about it but constructive critizism is welcome." Even if something is meant as a joke I think it's utterly stupid to make comments like "I feel asleep reading your stuff and needed coffe to make it through" or "can't you write dude" because it's stupid and makes you wonder about that person. And you'll never ever see me doing that. I ONLY post when I feel like I've got something to say or when I want to compliment a person. But hey... That's me. Yeah, I don't make posts just to score points or to get up the ladder on the ranking list as you've noticed but I write well thought out and long nicely written posts for the ones who wants something more then the usual 30 pages long threads about the coming LEGO Batman sets or the typical what should I buy post. You can look forward to read my review of 10134 UCS Y-Wing Attack Starfighter after your math test on Saturday and that's only because you made a nicely written reply to my post. I am very wise. People who know me know that. But when something p*** me off... Well... Then it p*** me off. My review is made for the ones who wants something more then the usual and ever so common stuff and not for the swoshfactor or what should I buy type of fans. If people want that then don't read my review and complain about it. Plain and simple. Sweden - The Very One... And Only.
  18. xwingyoda The part of falling asleep and needing coffee was funny the first time but not the second time and it's all getting old and boring as people has done it before. I'm not looking for praise and admiration but I'm not looking for old boring jokes either. I've got a great sense of humor and the ones who knows me know that to be very true but the type of post you made could be interpreted in several ways. Reading between the lines I at least find that it's unclear if it's a old boring joke or mocking. If you don't like my type of posts then don't read them only to complain about them afterwards. I don't find that stuff or behavior amusing at all. If you got something constructive to say then say so but leave the old boring jokes out. Thank you. Maybe I missunderstood you but your post was a bit unclear. The love story... Glad you liked it but I haven't even begin to write about that because that's a true love story between a man and a woman that most of you guys never ever will experience but that's another story that I'll keep to myself. Yeah, scaling is very weird if you place the UCS X-Wing Fighter, T.I.E. Interceptor, Rebel Blockade Runner, Naboo Fighter, Imperial Star Destroyer, Snowspeeder and Y-Wing Attack Starfighter next to each other. The scaling is weird because they're made in six (6) totally different scales. Only the X-Wing Fighter and T.I.E. Interceptor are in the exact same 1:28 scale but the Naboo Fighter, Snowspeeder and Y-Wing Attack Starfighter could also very easily have been made in 1:28 scale. If one knows ones stuff and if one has some brains one can understand that it's totally unreasonable to make the Rebel Blockade Runner and Imperial Star Destroyer in 1:28 scale and they can't even be made in the same scale as UCS models unless in they're made in mini form. I've never ever said that I wanted capitol ships like the Rebel Blockade Runner and Imperial Star Destroyer in the same 1:28 scale as smaller one and two man fighters like the X-Wing Fighter and T.I.E. Interceptor because that's stupid and impossible and that's something you and other people claim and not me. When you say that all those ships can't be made in the exact same scale you're right but also totally wrong as the smaller one and two man fighters CAN be made in exactly the same scale. You say that no one cares about if they're in the same scale and yet you still want a re-designed Mini Figure Y-Wing Attack Starfighter so you are contradicting yourself when you say that scale and accuracy doesn't matter and I find that amusing. The very same issue of scale and accuracy is a very heated discussion amongst the collectors and builders in the model kit communities where they one week says it doesn't matter and the next it's the end of the world and when one remind them of it they mock you for it. It's so weird that when one person want scale and accuracy it's okay and all others join saying so and the next week it doesn't matter at all and when one says one want it then it's not okay and all others join in saying so. Then when one ask people about it they mock you and even get really hostile for being contradicting themselves. Go figure. It's totally clear to me at least that you see the Mini Figure scale and UCS scale as two (2) totally different entities and that you separate these scales from each other and by doing that you got a sense of scale so how can you say that scale and accuracy doesn't matter at all? Go figure. So if scale and accuracy doesn't matter at all then go buy yourself the UCS Y-Wing Attack Starfighter and call it Mini Figure scale and swosh it around with the Mini Figure X-Wing Fighter and then tell me that you don't care about scale and accuracy. Sweden - The Very One... And Only.
  19. Warning: This is a pretty long and more indeept review of 10134 UCS Y-Wing Attack Starfighter, without any pictures as there already are pictures available of it out here on the Internet, for the fans of the LEGO Star Wars line who wants something more then the usual stuff. If you can't read more then a mere few words or sentences a day or just are into swoshfactor nine posts and 30 pages long threads about the coming new sets then this little review is NOTHING at all for you. I mean it. If you don't like this type of reviews then don't read it only to complain about it afterwards so pick and chose. Make it simple for yourself. I'd appriciate it. Thank you. The set box: The Y-Wing Attack Starfighter comes in a huge "Original Trilogy Edition" box the same size as 10129 UCS Snowspeeder meassuring 56 cm or 22" wide, 38 cm or 15" tall and 9 cm or 3,5" deep containing all of the parts, sticker sheet and instruction booklet. As this is the European release of the set the box front is NOT marked "ages/edades" and "Building Toy/Jouet de Construction/Juguete para Construir" above and under the recommended age as well as "cont. 1473 pcs/pzs" like the boxes in the US of A. Both of the short sides of the box just has the Star Wars logo on them while the long sides have smaller pictures of the set and on the back of the box the set is shown off in details on larger pictures as well as 4502 X-Wing Fighter, 4504 Millennium Falcon and 10131 TIE Fighter Collection in a group shot. The instruction booklet: Is 84 pages long and is divided into nine (9) steps that takes one through the building of the Y-Wing Attack Starfighter. 1) The main fuselage through pages 2 to 18. 2) Right boom through pages 19 to 20 and on page 21 attaching it to the main fuselage. 3) Left boom through pages 22 to 23 and on page 24 attaching it to the main fuselage. 4) Middle right and left engine sections through pages 25 to 38 and on page 39 attaching them to the main fuselage booms. 5) Additional main fuselage details and middle right and left engine sections details through pages 40 to 41. 6) Back right and left engine sections through pages 42 to 47 and on page 48 attaching them to the middle right and left engine sections. 7) Front right and left engine sections through pages 49 to 55 and on page 56 attaching them to the middle right and left engine sections. 8) Cockpit through pages 57 to 70 and on page 71 attaching it to the main fuselage. 9) Display stand with name plate through pages 72 to 82 and the model placed on it on page 83. Page 1 is front cover and page 84 is back cover. Includes NO pages with other sets in the UCS or Mini Figure LEGO Star Wars line. Building the Y-Wing Attack Starfighter: I had the great pleasure to share my hobby and to sit down and build this very huge set with my girlfriend Eva Katarina (I'm turning 38 this year in May and she turned 40 last year in December and she's the very best!) when she were here visiting me from Friday the 3rd to Sunday the 5th of February this year. We sat down at around 8 PM on Saturday the 4th and while I opened the bags with the parts she started to sort out the pieces so it'd be easier to build it due to the amount of parts and lack of space. It's funny, I've never ever built sets that way and last summer when we were about to build our first Star Wars LEGO set together (10129 UCS Snowspeeder) she chocked me by sorting out the pieces just like some of you guys do and it was great fun sharing my hobby. It's truly amazing to see Eva Katarina pick out the parts I need watching the instruction booklet upside down or when I tell her what part or parts I need and she hits it right about 95% percent of the time and she's not even into this stuff herself. Wow, is she truly amazing and truly the best or what? We built the Y-Wing Attack Starfighter in around six (6) hours enjoying the experience of doing something together like sharing my hobby and it was great fun for us both as she actually enjoys it herself and then again it was she that was eager to build this set to begin with. Building the set was pretty straight forward and there was no errors in the instruction booklet but damn it's sometimes really hard to see if a part is supposed to be black or dark "bley" or not. When the main fuselage, right and left boom and middle right and left engine sections are attached together it gets a little hard to handle so we built the display stand with name plate to put it on and to save space as well but it couldn't hold the set at this stage. The set was so tail heavy it almost fell over so be prepared to have lots of space until the set is all finished before placing it on the display stand because it's not until it's all finished off it will sit properly on it. Final verdict - What about the scale and accuracy?: Well, this UCS set actually suffers from being a mixture of Classic UCS scale as well as Classic Mini Figure scale with a touch of Special Edition scale. According to the Star Wars databank over at Star Wars.com the Y-Wing Attack Starfighter is supposed to be a 16 meter long spaceship. Meassuring in at 66 cm or 26" long that makes the Y-Wing Attack Starfighter length wise a 1:24 scale model unlike the UCS X-Wing Fighter and T.I.E. Interceptor that length wise are in 1:28 scale. The original filming miniature was supposed to be in 1:24 scale so that's spot on and it's pretty close to 1:28 scale and can probably be over looked by most collectors and builders of the Star Wars UCS LEGO line. But from a model kit collector and builders point of view I find it odd that the LEGO designers couldn't stick to the Classic UCS 1:28 scale while they were at it because it's pretty damn cool to have them displayed being in exactly the same scale. This might sound a little rough to the most of you guys out there that collect and build the Star Wars UCS LEGO line but as it's supposed to be a model kit but in LEGO form and as it's so incredibly expensive one has the right to critizise the set especially if it contains errors and omissions. But even if it's a replica and even if it's 1:24 scale just like the original filming miniature of the Y-Wing Attack Starfighter it's shape and proportions are way off from the original filming miniature. First off the engines and vanes are way too narrow and long and would need to be made wider and shorter but then it's also the proportions between the engines and vanes that are incorrect. Second the cockpit section is a bit too narrow and short and need to be wider and longer and third the interior of the cockpit is a bit too narrow as well and need to be wider. Fourth the main fuselage is a bit too narrow and need to be wider. That amongst other smaller issues precent in this scale LEGO model. If one happen to want the Y-Wing Attack Starfighter to be in the Classic UCS 1:28 scale like the discontinued X-Wing Fighter and T.I.E. Interceptor then this set need to be modified to be correct as its lenght of 66 cm or 26" is 9 cm or 3,5" too long as it in 1:28 scale would be 57 cm or 22,5" long. Those 9 cm or 3,5" would be around twelve (12) studs that need to be shaven off the LEGO models lenght and most of it can be shaven off from the engines and vanes kind of like how Reto "Warhawk" Geiger did on his modified version. Over at his Brickshelf gallery is seen how Reto "Warhawk" Geiger shaved off one (1) stud from front right and left engine sections and four (4) studs from the middle right and left engine sections as well as two (2) studs from the back right and left engine/vanes section. But more need to be shaven off the model for 1:28 scale. As it is now the LEGO designers made the Y-Wing Attack Starfighter in 1:24 scale on it's length just like the original filming miniature but its shape and proportions are way off as the engines and vanes are mini figure scale being just six (6) studs wide but way too long while the main fuselage and cockpit is more like "Special Edition" scale. The main problem for this probably lays in the fact that the LEGO designers haven't made any new parts for the cockpit window and the rounded front of the engines as well as the rounded fins of the engines but built the model around already exixting parts. For the cockpit window they've used "30372 Windscreen 4 x 7 x 1 & 2-3" and for the rounded front of the engines 30083 Windscreen 6 x 6 x 3 Dome with Hinge and for the rounded fins of the engines 32077 Wheel 28 x 70 Futuristic and this is probably the main reason to why the model is a mixture of Classic UCS scale as well as Classic Mini Figure scale with a touch of Special Edition scale. My ideas for future modifications: As I'm a huge fan of the 1:28 scale X-Wing Fighter and T.I.E. Interceptor that were the very first two sets in the UCS line I'd love to modify the Y-Wing Attack Starfighter to make it 1:28 scale and more accurate when it comes to the proportions and details of the spaceship. Sure, the X-Wing Fighter and T.I.E. Interceptor also suffer from having serious proportional errors due to the use of already existing parts but the Y-Wing Attack Starfighter suffers even more so. Ultimate MOC creator Gareth "Guybrush" Bowler made the Y-Wing Attack Starfighter in Classic UCS 1:28 scale way ahead of LEGO and I'm kind of torn between the LEGO designers version and his version as his is 1:28 scale and much more movie accurate. These two versions are quite different as Gareth "Guybrush" Bowler use much different building techniques then the LEGO designers has used in theirs and mixing them could make a truly terrific LEGO model of the Y-Wing Attack Starfighter. First off the engines and their vanes are way too narrow and long and need to be two (2) studs wider and at least 7 studs shorter or maybe even more but then the rounded front or Dome with Hinge and the round back fins or Wheel 28 x 70 Futuristic parts can't be used for the engines. The engines on Gareth "Guybrush" Bowler's version are wider and shorter but has much less details on them compared to the LEGO designers version but if one do use in some way the building techniques from both versions one can make the engines wider and shorter. Second the cockpit and cockpit interior are too narrow and short and need to be around six (6) studs wider and six (6) studs longer but then the cockpit window or Windscreen 4 x 7 x 1 & 2-3 can't be used for the cockpit so Gareth "Guybrush" Bowler's design is a/the solution for this. I haven't really made any exact calculations for everything but the main fuselage should be two (2) studs wider and perhaps a bit shorter and then the way and where the booms attach to the main fuselage and engines need to be modified as it doesn't look quite right at all. Final words and fun facts: One thing that one has to be totally clear of is that the Y-Wing Attack Starfighter is a mixture of Classic UCS 1:28 scale as well as Classic Mini Figure scale with a touch of Special Edition scale and of course 1:24 scale on its length so it's a very odd UCS set. The difference between 1:24 and 1:28 would be hard to recreate in LEGO form due to the limitations of the medium so basically the only major difference one could possibly be able to create between these two scales would be the length. According to my very own calculations it would however be much more easier to modify it to 1:28 scale in all aspects and it would even be very easy to be able to modify it into Mini Figure scale which brings me to... The unreleased super detailed prototype Mini Figure scale Y-Wing Attack Starfighter? Yes, a unreleased super detailed protype Mini Figure scale Y-Wing Attack Starfighter DO exist. Before any of you guys start to mouth off at me go check this "old" picture: Unreleased super detailed prototype Mini Figure scale Y-Wing Attack Starfighter When this scan from some LEGO? magazine surfaced amongst all the LEGO communities many long years ago people weird enough didn't talk too much about it which I've found really weird with all the whining and begging for a re-designed Y-Wing Attack Starfighter. The few who did talk about it kind of argued if it was either a UCS or a Mini Figure scale model but the scan kind of clearly shows it's a Mini Figure scale model as if one look really close one can see a mini figure sitting in the cockpit which reveal it as being a Mini Figure scale model. Then again one can just by looking at it clearly see that it's a Mini Figure scale model and not UCS scale but in a super detailed form and this unreleased prototype have a whole lot in common with the 1:24 scale UCS model which the ones who own it can see. A qualified guess of mine is that LEGO chickened out of making a true Mini Figure scale model of the Y-Wing Attack Starfighter and re-designed it completely into UCS scale and except for using already existing parts that's why this set is basically four different scales. Rating: Pieces 10/10 - But what do I know? Mini Figures 1/10 - The Astromech Droid is out of scale. Playability/Swoshability - Do you guys really run around naked and swosh? Swoshability. Originality 10/10 - But hey... What do I know? Set design 7/10 - Interesting. But what scale did they have in mind? Overall 7 - The LEGO designers could've done MUCH better. 20. HJR Honestly I don't think that Mr. Eric "Baron Sat" Druon is banging his head against the wall for making the instructions for his great MOC Jabba's Sail Barge as none of us have seen the official set yet and as far as I'm concerned he has no need to as his version might be proven superior compared to the LEGO version. So until June... He doesn't need to bang his head to the wall if he ever has to. ;) Beagle I agree with most of what you say but you "do" contradict yourself first saying that the Jawa Sandcrawler isn't <insert that tiresome argument> and then second saying it seem to be too wide and the major reason for that "is" because it's <insert that tiresome argument> because in the movie it's a "huge" vehicle while the LEGO set is just large but "not" huge. A "true" mini figure scale Jawa Sandcrawler would be around 2 to 3 times bigger if not even larger ... ;) Sweden - The One... And Only.
  21. The LEGO Company is smart... It's going to be "very" interesting to see the very first pictures of the Jabba's Sail Barge set especially with all the "Oh's and Ah's" most poeple say as I'm most certain it'll be heavily <insert that tiresome argument> and a far cry from what it could be both as a set and a mini figure pack and I'm not really surprised that they will finally release it. Deinonychus Yeah, like the Sandcrawler. Heavily <insert that tiresome argument> and so so figures with silly play feathures. Awesome set no. But a decent one. I'll admitt to that. Mattzitron Yeah, we can dream on. Most unlikely that we'll get new mini figures accept the ones available already. Maybe Watto could pass as that blue organ player... *Laughs* ;) Starwars4J Perfect mini figure pack yes but don't expect everyone that was seen in the movie. vader316 Yes, let's all sing alongggggggg! *Laughs* ;) Yeah, lets all bow to the God's The LEGO Group. I find it hilarious that so many seem to think that they "do" listen to and care about the AFOL and KAFOL fans of the Star Wars line when we're just a few percent of their sales figures because as said a thousand times before it's "ALL" else then us they make bucks on. :| The coming release of Jabba's Sail Barge is no real surprise and not really un-expected and it's nothing else but a "very" smart marketing move by The LEGO Group as the license "probably" will end in 2007 and with this fact in mind they will try and milk as much money out of this cash cow as that's what this line is to them. I mean, when one do look back at what has been released as sets and how they were released over the past 6 years it "do" follow a very clear pattern with "really wanted" sets not being released until a couple of years later like the AT-AT and it's a "very" smart move by The LEGO Group making the line staying alive. If The LEGO Group would've started off with releasing the "really wanted" sets like the Millennium Falcon, Imperial Shuttle, Jawa Sandcrawler and Jabba's Sail Barge I'm "fairly" certain that the interest and sales for line would've dropped dramaticly and I'm "fairly" sure that it "wouldn't" have become what it is today. Trust me, The LEGO Group knows "ALL" this and planned it ahead already from the "begining" as that's a very smart business move to make if you've got a potential cash cow and another "proof" of this is all the re-designs we've gotten lately as most people "DO" want more and better sets then originally released. I tip my hat off to The LEGO Group being smart business men and to AFOL & KAFOL's for being so naive. ;) xwingyoda You're on the right track because that's "what" Jabba's Sail Barge "will" be as a set and mini figure pack. kimt I totally agree with you. It's a very expensive hobby to collect the LEGO Star Wars line... :| My personal opinnion: Just like all of the other "larger spaceships and vehicles" that were released in the mini figure scale it'll be heavily <insert that tiresome argument> and a bad mini figure pack just because of the simple reason that sets "are" made for a certain "price point" and therefore a vehicle like this simply can't be made in scale and as a mini figure pack. 22. When lego2000 started his topic "LEAKED PICS!!!" I thought I'd write something about the issue of the so called "leaked pictures and information" that surface every now and then and as I think this is a issue that's worth a topic on its own (unless someone of the moderators have something else to say). To my knowledge at least the whole issue of "leaked pictures and information" started when Mr. Tim Saup
  23. Why do LEGO toys have value to you? Simply because the possibilities for creating amazing products are basically endless. What makes LEGO brand construction toys worth your money? The concept of licensed products like the Star Wars line and once again the above reason. In what way has the LEGO brand let you down? Except for the Ultimate Collector Series in the Star Wars line the System/Mini Figure sets are way to much toy like being way too simplified and with stupid play feathures and a inbetween line between those two would be a real nice addition. Recently, how has the LEGO brand improved? It hasn't. Star Wars sets have become more toy like being way too simplified and with stupid play feathures. What would you like to see LEGO (re)introduce in the next three years? The Star Wars line. A brand new superdetailed and correctly scaled Star Wars System/Mini Figure line. What does LEGO need to do to sell more products for less cost to them? Move everything to Asia like everyone else does just to make more profit. What reason(s) do you have for not buying new LEGO sets? Because it's twice as expensive in Sweden as it's in the US of A. It's cheaper to import them from the US of A then buying them in stores here in Sweden. What would it take for you to spend more money on new LEGO products versus buying sets/parts on the second hand markets? See the above answer. What will it take for LEGO to remain the best construction toy for all ages and be a profitable company? Depends on how much profit LEGO wants to make or how greedy the suits are. What are your home country, first name and age? Sweden, Lars-Olof, 37 years. Is there anything you would like to say with this last question that you feel someone at LEGO should not go without reading? All business need to make a profit to be profitable but the question is where to draw the line for how much profit that's good enough. Sometimes greed put an end to most business because most want more and more and won't settle for less profit. The LEGO Company really need to expand their market in other directions and much more towards the AFOL community like for example model kit builders and collectors that used to build and collect LEGO when they were a child because that market has a lot of potential instead of focusing just on the children. They should also listen more to what the KAFOL and AFOL has to say about the product line and what ideas they've got about it, unless they're scared of being sued by someone who wants money for their ideas, because in the very end it's the customers that makes a business.
  24. xwingyoda Yeah, some intelligent conversations regarding anything else but "What should I buy?, What shouldn't I buy? You're the best! I'm the best! There's a new set lets all talk about it to death!" keeps the brain in good shape and yikes these types of communities need something "new" everyonce in a while or what? Yeah again, the decisions LEGO makes sometimes are way beyond a LEGO fan's comprehension... *sick* When it comes to the Star Wars line my guess is that there's much more "prototype" sets and models then what we're even aware of as the possibilities for this line basically are endless especially for the "Ultimate Collector Series" and that super detailed and correctly scaled "System/Mini Figure" scale like the Y-Wing. My guess in % is that maybe as few as 30% to 40% of all the "prototype" sets and models made reach out to the general public with the above fact of endless possibilities in mind and "I don't think" that I'm too wrong about my guess but if anyone else has a clue about this please feel free to inform us all... :D Of course, TLC do lurk and read AFOL/KAFOL forums and that we've seen when they try and get some free advertising, read: LEGOGurl and Death Star II, and sure we might be of some use to them releasing new sets but we're just 5% or 10% of their sales figures so I wouldn't count on our impact on them too much. Sweden - The One... And Only.
  25. sam89 I want to agree with you that we won't see the arena beasts and Count Dooku's Solar Sailor but I'm not 100% sure about that as those, as far as I've seen at least, are highly requested sets but as I said I think that the chances for the Solar Sailor are better then the arena beast but we'll see what's going to happen. The Solar Sailor looks great to me at least and Acklay and Reek looks so so being made out of LEGO parts and would've looked better as new single molds or with movable parts but as we've only seen Kaduu's as brand new creature molds so far any new creature molds are highly unlikely due to high tooling costs. Sarg Kulo & Ras74 That's what I heard and seen too. No more Episode I and II sets. Just as sam89 says I've also seen and heard that LEGO will focus on yet more Episode III sets as well as more Episode IV to VI sets in the near future but then again who knows if LEGO renew and continue the Star Wars license with Lucas Film Limited.
