  1. All the exhibitors will be getting an email from me shortly to confirm their exhibits. It's next on my very very long to-do list! But yes, the displays need to be setup before the public arrives and taken down after they leave. Imagine how you'd feel if you had paid money to come to the show and it wasn't ready! Regarding PF remotes, that's always a potential problem at every show I've ever been to - but not one that usually causes any real problems. PF remotes aren't that powerful...!
  2. Sandpits? Err... no, not something we tend to provide! You're welcome to bring some with you, as long as it's contained and doesn't make a mess. But why use sand? You could dig up technic pins or 1x1 round plates instead!
  3. We're certainly planning it. Last year we had to leave the venue much earlier in the evening that I had hoped for. Next year we can stay longer and we're working on finding a hotel that we can all stay in at a discount too.
  4. And there are also lots of things planned that are also top secret too! Believe me, it's going to be one fun weekend... :) Warren (AFOLCON and LEGO SHOW organiser)
  5. Some of you might have seen this at the Skaerbaek AFOL weekend, or the Brickish Association STEAM show last month. But if not, here's my latest big MOC - St Pancras Station. Actually, this is St Pancras Chambers, or the old Midland hotel. The train station itself is behind the hotel and I've not started on that yet But, it's a start! Full Flickr gallery is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/24569715@N00/...57622397455071/ - have fun!
  6. Its the Forth rail bridge. Some pics here - http://www.elsmore.net/warren/blog.nsf/Albums/WELE-6SAH3X - but I'm waiting for a show in a few weeks time to take some really good pics of it (it doesn't fit int he house ;-) )
  7. Yes, there is a world record - 37m!! http://www.recordholders.org/en/list/lego.html It looks great, my only concern would be the brick built pillars. I'm not sure at that scale if Lego tolerances are close enough (think CC walls not lining up etc). Plus the downward force will be huuuuuuge! My model of the Forth Bridge (6.1m long) is almost completely Technic built as there is more 'wiggle' room to line everything up.
  8. Andy, Hello! There are a good few AFOL events (not as large as the US ones of course), organised by Brickish - the UK AFOL club. hop on over to www.brickish.org for more details. Unfortunatly, the public part of the website is quite sparce, but check out the following folders for one of the clubs' biggest public displays: http://news.lugnet.com/trains/?n=27913&t=i&v=a Where are you based in the UK? Warren
  9. Sounds great, but you should all come along to Scotfest too (which is totally free), we are just a bit bad at taking photos! The more people, the better it will be :-) and just for the record, Brickish does cost money, but it's only
  10. My first post, and it's a (hopefully) useful answer! I picked one of these up the other week. It's quite a nice box, but certainly isn't going to hold anyone total Lego collection. The box itself is about 30cm long and 17cm wide, and the top half opens to show you the inside. There are 4 trays inside, each of which stacks on top of the others in any order. Each tray is subdivided into different compartments, and each tray is different. So there's a tray of 20 small compartments, 16 larger ones, 3 big ones etc (numbers are from memory) The whole box is not that strong, as it's made of cardboard covered in glossy paper (it reminds me of an IKEA product), but it's certainly strong enough to hold a full complement of Lego inside! I tend to use it as a portable carrier, containing parts for models I'm working on right now, or to carry parts from my main store in the back room to the lounge. Overall - 8/10. A little on the expensive side, considering what it's made from - but good value otherwise.
