BearHeart Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Well... I was planning to post this thread in a few weeks but since I saw the New Castle Set Ideas thread I thought I'd post this one. With a rather open-ended storyline, I think there is a lot of possibility for creativity and longevity in the new Castle theme. Its basically the Good King and his knights versus the evil Wizard and his skeleton army. I think this is a really easy concept to expand on.... simply add different, evil or mischievous factions that the King and his Knighs would be up against. So what are some of your ideas for different factions the Crown Knight could go up against? Here are my ideas... A band of goblins living in the hills constantly raids the Crown Kingdom. This sub theme could include a hill fort, a loot cave, new goblin minifigs, wolf-riders, and a neat green/tan color scheme. Mischievous elves living in the forest rob the King of his treasure. This would basically be a new version of forestmen but with light green skin. It would include you basic forest faction elements like tree bases, bows, lots of foilage... etc. Another evil wizard has created a mechanical golem army and tries to take over the Crown Kingdom. This theme would include a white wizards tower, golem minifigs (different colors) and lots of mechanical siege machinery. Quote
Berry Syedow Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 These are good ideas. I'll also add, a new faction of vikings with redesigned hornless helmets. The hornless helmets could come in other colors such as black or a variation of the "silver look". They could even be distant relatives of the current king in power. It would also be neat to see a force of mercenaries that make a temporary alliance with the evil wizard. These mercenaries only care about their payment, so whoever is willing to hand out the most cash would have their support. In the end, I believe the mercenaries would come out on top. ;-) I don't see that happening, however, because of TLC's unannounced policy of no fig on fig violence. P.S. Did you mean to say that the elves will have light green skin? Is this how the classic elf is supposed to appear? Quote
Athos Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I think we need a Boar faction. Primary colors of brown and blue. Steve Quote
iamded Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Dwarves! Most of us have seen the pics of that Lego dwarf, and think it's neat! There could be a Hill Fort (I know, that's what the Viking set is called), a blacksmith, and a Raiding Group with a bunch of minifigs and a siege weapon. This faction could be allied to the Royal Kingdom. Possibly Dragons? There could be the Alpha Male Dragon (leader), normal dragons (seen in the Castle sets already), and smaller Dragon Whelps. They would dislike the Evil Wizard over the Royal Kingdom as the Wizard is controlling some of the dragons. Centaurs and Minotaurs would be cool, but that's Greek mythology, so meh. :-/ Quote

There could be a Hill Fort (I know, that's what the Viking set is called), ... I didn't see this pic, but I heard of it. There was also supposed to be a troll pic. Did you save them by chance :-/ ? xwingyoda Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I would definitly love to see Elves and Dwarfs 8- Quote
Shakar Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I'd like to see a new Dragon faction. Colours would be black paired with either red (like the old Dragon Masters) or green/dark green. Something awesome that Lego could make for the torso designs would be making the armour look like the skin of a dragon, scales and all. I'd also like an Eagle faction. Colours would be dark blue and black, with some gold (like armour and borders on shileds). Finally, Lego should produce the Trolls and the Dwarfs we all know about. ;-) With new shield designs, of course. Shakar Quote

natelite Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Wow. Those are superb. The trolls (or orcs, it looks more like an orc but whatever) are GREAT. Too bad it's too customized for the regular mf helmets and armors to fit. The dwarves on the other hand. DROOL! Fantastic new helmet. Yeow! Can't wait for these to be released as new sets. Great work LEGO! Finally, we are getting medieval fantasy! Yippee! For elves, I think it should just be a new head piece: some hairpiece with pointy ears on the side and a hole on top to slide onto the head stud. Then we can put the forestmen hats on top of the stud. Maybe they can recycle the EF heads, since those already have pointy eyes. Can't wait to see what else they come up with. Maybe new classes too. I like to see more variety of characters instead of the current selection of knights or foot soldiers. Some clerics, druids or shamans would be fun. Quote
Starwars4J Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 (edited) I didn't, but someone else over CC did.Shakar Yup, it's actually being talked about over in the main thread for Castle, with higher-res pics X-D We have to thank Athos for finding this over at C-C! I hope we finally get a new beard...and I *wub* that helm Edited June 6, 2007 by Starwars4J Quote
BearHeart Posted June 6, 2007 Author Posted June 6, 2007 P.S. Did you mean to say that the elves will have light green skin? Is this how the classic elf is supposed to appear? Elves are sometimes portrayed in pictures as having light green skin. I just suggested a different color than yellow to avoid the whole human vs. human deal. Green skin would just make them look non-human. Quote
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Ig. Then we're into WoW elves, in which case, they'd also need ears that are a bout 4 studs wide.... on each side of their heads. Quote

I really wish TLC would drop the whole non-violence act if they aren't going to be consistent. Quote

That would be AWESOME.I want more more fantasy factions: Goblins, Dwarfes (Lego's plans on them are fine, altough I always envisioned them with pointy hats), Demons (of all the sorts! Small ones, huge ones, minifig-like ones...), Elves (come on, those are really simple, just minifigs with printed or moulded pointy ears). I need some nice looking fantasy creatures for my story... WesternOutlaw Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Dwarves would be awesome and completely new for Lego. Could you see Dwarven mines/ mountain fortresses. Really cool! Quote
Echo Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 I would like to see some mercenaries. And they would have to be done right, unlike the ridiculous KK mercs. Quote
john cleese Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 arabian knights: basically like JT's adventure in india but as a castle faction, armies of men and weponary to boot. Sets could be a forty thieves like den, a camp with three dome like tents, palm tree, camels and supplies. Perhaps an arabian fort. Gnomes: The gnomes do it all- eat mushrooms, build mushrooms, live in mushrooms and make for pleasent garden decor. sets include gnome twig fortress: The gnomes need to defend themselves, just like everybody else. how? three words- gnome twig fortress. includes a multi tier fortress, thats composed of rooms that hang on twigs, connected by bridges. The gnome twig fortress is heavily armed with 8 catapults, several sites to pour boiling water on enemies, and two catapiller launchers. Includes, 13 figs including 9 gnome soldiers, 1 gnome knight, 2 ant minions ant the evil ant wizard (who anthropomorphisizes the ants). evil ant wizard's, ant hill citadel. The evil ant wizard has comissioned his new ant prisoners to build his center of operations. The citadel has mushrooms and various fungi growing on it. Includes two caterpillar launchers, four catapults. Total of 9 figs, 5 ant minions, ant wizard, 2 gaurds, a knight and butterfly (equiv to dragon) Spider web showdown: The evil ant wizard watches high on his throne as the valiant gnome knight fights the biggest spider in the forest, who will win? you control the action. Web is actually made out of a clever mesh of these. Quote

Asuka Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 Very interesting and neat ideas, john cleese! *y* Quote
WarnIcarus Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 (edited) I love the Goblins/Orcs and Dwarves in the new castle sets, but what do you guys think would make castle better? I would love to see more Robin Hood type characters, or at least more sets focusing on the peasants in the medieval ages. What about Elves? They might be a bit cheesey, but who knows, LEGO could probably pull it off. What would you guys like to see? Edited December 17, 2007 by WarnIcarus Quote
blueandwhite Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 I'm definitely on board for the return of peasants/forestment. Honestly, I think that bandits and thieves would be a great addition to the line, robbing from both the heroes (Knights, Dwarfs), and villians (orcs, trolls, skellies). The forestmen have always had some nice medieval torsos, so they could also double as villagers. Quote
Siegfried Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 There was a discussion about this recently, but I for one would love to see elves, cheesy or not! X-D I really do think though that Lego should do Greeks and/or Romans, but since the current Castle is more fantasy than fact I can't see that happening for a while. Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 I would like to see Arabic/Persian style castles and knights. We've had vikings so who knows. *sweet* Quote
Zarkan Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Forestmen should come back. Better yet, they could make a new hybrid forestmen/elves faction, with giant tree houses, secret hideouts, and tons of archers. How 'bout in 2009? *sweet* Quote
