Illuwatar Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Hi everyone! Not really active here, but building a lot... For a Lego train-event in Norrköping, Sweden, I built this fantasy train, inspired by the Bond-movie "Golden Eye". This is my first try at this area. The train set is pure imagination, set in a future time where small nuclear power plants fuels our vehicles. The tender holds tha actual reactor and the engine is electric. A cargo carrier was added to the set to make it more fun to display. The whole train set is build as 8+ wide (I think it is almost 10 studs wide including the snotted tiles/armor plating) but it runs on regular Lego tracks. My initial idea was to use a triple-boogie setup on the engine, but it did not work IRL (except as a static display piece). The train is powered by PF-components, all of them inside the engine. Quote
CamelBoy68 Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 All you need now is an oppulent carriage for the "bad guy"... It looks really fearsome ! Quote
Mutant Orc Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I love this! However... it's a nuclear train! Surely you need a nuclear reactor to power it accurately!... Quote
eurotrash Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I like this! There's plenty of interesting detailing on such a grey train. It'd be perfect for my plans.... /strokes white cat and laughs maniacally/ Quote
Hey Joe Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Hey! That's really awesome. I like the idea of a nuclear reactor in the tender a lot, and it may be prophetic. Joe Quote
Man with a hat Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Great creation. You don't see a train like that very often. And it is impressive. Quote
Dan-147 Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 (edited) Possible upgrade... Replace the nuclear reactor with a Mr. Fusion cold reactor as in Back To the Future. Just kidding. Seriously, the train looks great! Indeed very much like the GoldenEye train. I might steal be inspired by it and make my own. Dan-147 Edited August 8, 2013 by Dan-147 Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Cool sci-fi inspired train 'Illuwatar'.....excellent designing and I love that six wide sports car on the back with chain gun ! Brick On 'Illuwatar' ! Quote
Esurient Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Great work on the train! I like how a car can fit in your train! Quote
TenorPenny Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Terrific Bond stylings to it, well done..! Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 This is the train from Golden Eye ...I love how it looks like the real one in the movie! Long live James Bond! Quote
kermit Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 This reminds me of the train from Goldeneye. Quote
timmyc1983 Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Awesome train there, as said before the detailing is exquisite. If you had said I made a train and it's all grey, I would have thought how boring, but there is nothing boring about this design, all the details and features make it really pop despite the mono-tone colouring!! And I love Golden Eye so it's  Excellent job and happy building Quote
VWcharger69 Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I love your MOC. Very detailled and very impressive. Quote
Spud The Viking Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I adore your MOC. Do we get to see the crew/henchmen? Quote
Illuwatar Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Thank You everyone for the nice responses! As a first-time train builder, this is inspiring and there will be more in the future. A few passenger cars would be nice to add, in the same size/scale as the cargo carrier of course. The driver compartment of the train is fully equipped with control panels, seat for one minifig driver and the mandatory coffe cup. It is hard to take descent pictures of, but I could try. Regarding the mono-color approach - this is the way I prefer to build. To create detail primary by structure, not by color. And this is supposed to be military of some kind... Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 It does indeed look very awesome and actually quite intimidating. If I saw a real one of these going along past my house I'd think we were in for some trouble! Quote
stu808 Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 That's really quite a cool train ;) Makes my recent MOCing adventures look somewhat pitiful... Stu :) Quote
