Chorduroy Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Hey all, Here are a couple pics of the roundhouse and turntable I made for a recent show. Unfortunately, none of the pics turned out very well, but I'm hoping other members who took photos will have better ones. You can kind of get the idea from these though. VectorTrains Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 That looks really nice! It looks more sturdy than other designs, and I think that makes it look much nicer. Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Looks good, I like the idea of using the narrow gauge track around the edge to run the turntable over. Does the turn table go all the way around to turn an engine to face the other way? It seems so many that we see just turn a small bit to lead into different bays in the round house and are not able to actually turn a loco. Quote

Hey Joe Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Hey, you found a use for flex track, well done! Seriously; I like that a lot, and would like to see more pics. joe Quote
ManInATopHat Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Nice modern roundhouse! I like it very much! Quote
Esurient Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Great work on the turntable and roundhouse! Love it! I like the rocky feel to the turntable Quote
JopieK Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Very nice indeed, is it also motorized?! I suppose not, but maybe you did a very neat trick. Quote
Chorduroy Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 Thanks all! It's not motorized, sadly. That was my goal initially, but I ran out of time before our show to do it. It was much higher at first to accommodate the motor and gears, but this actually worked much better, because It looks more realistic at this height. I think it could be motorized if I made the turntable shed bigger like that CUUSOO turntable. I didn't even have time to connect it to our train layout at the show. It was off by itself and looked a little lost. Quote
zephyr1934 Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 A nice build and please do continue to post more photos as it evolves. Quote
JopieK Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 @Chorduroy: that sounds very familiar, why am I posting this and not busy programming my trains for tomorrow?! :) Quote
Kivi Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Well done, especially the roundhouse. A functioning turntable would give an 'added value' to the creation, but it is a nice design anyway. Quote
