Bob De Quatre Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 (edited) Black with 3 blades main rotor. Dark red with 8 blades main rotor (Metallic) dark grey in landing mode with landing gears deployed and side rotors retracted Here is the lxf file The file contains groups to help you change the colors. I think the black version can be brickbuilt, but sadly I won't be able to do so. The landing gears should support the weight, but couldn't test them with real bricks. lightningtiger Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 AWESOME 'Avatar' inspired build 'BDQ'.....Brick On Fight On ! Quote
Chro Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) Great build. I quite like the use of those round Technic pieces for the cannons. The Ninjago blades look great on the propellors, too. Edited May 16, 2013 by Chro Quote
Bighappysmiles Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 It reminds me of those four rotored flying things that are like $400. It would be cool if you could make it fly! It doesn't look very aerodynamic though....... I like the guns on the top, they look like they would hurt.....a lot! Oh, how does it land? It looks like it only has the landing gear on the front and it would just land on the back rotor, so it wouldn't work in real bricks.....I'm probably missing something or the angle is bad I like it, it's very nice! I love all of your builds, they are very nice! Quote
tchuk-norst Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Oh, how does it land? You make a good point, I'm wondering that too. But, I do love the use of the Ninjago blades and the technic cannons are a nice touch! Good work! Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 Thanks for the comments You make a good point, I'm wondering that too. But, I do love the use of the Ninjago blades and the technic cannons are a nice touch! Good work! I forgot to post a pic of the landing gears... that couldn't support anything if brickbuilt... cyclone par BobDeQuatre, sur Flickr I think I'll work on a 2nd version of the Cyclone, as I'm not quite satisfied with this one. rongYIREN Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 An interesting design - I quite like it. The only part that I would question would be that the Ninjago blades extend past the rotor guard. Quote
DraikNova Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Lovely sleek look. The overall structure reminds me of some real-life experimental heli's. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 Lovely sleek look. The overall structure reminds me of some real-life experimental heli's. Thanks Draiknova An interesting design - I quite like it. The only part that I would question would be that the Ninjago blades extend past the rotor guard. That bothers me too... but these blades looks so cool I've worked on a new version, which is closer to what I had in mind. I'll finish it tonight and do some pretty renders cyclone_2 par BobDeQuatre, sur Flickr Quote
kibosh Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Very nice! I love these multi-prop vehicles. Sort of reminds me of the helicopters from Bolt, too. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) Thanks guys Here is the Cyclone mark 2: cyclone_2 par BobDeQuatre, sur Flickr A black Cyclone with the new 8 blades rotor and in landing mode, and Red leader in flying mode Edited May 16, 2013 by Bob De Quatre Quote
Bighappysmiles Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Whoa!! The Mk 2 is so much better! It's like two things in one! That's cool, making it so it can switch between land and ground mode! (Oh by the way, It looks soooo much better in red!) You should make it in a combo of different greens, like olive and other ones to make it look like a military thing. The missiles and the guns make it look dangerous! You should make these builds in bricks! It would be sweet to have them sitting on your shelf! Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 (edited) Updated the first post with the mk3 version and the lxf file. cyclone_3b par BobDeQuatre, sur Flickr I think I'm getting addicted to POV-ray Edited May 18, 2013 by Bob De Quatre Quote
DraikNova Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I´d say that the colorscheme that looks best on the Mark 3 is undoubtedly the grey one. Quote
Johnnyred Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Legit! What kind of canopy is that? Set numbers that it comes in? Quote
DraikNova Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Legit! What kind of canopy is that? Set numbers that it comes in? I believe it's two Slave I cockpits linked together. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 Thanks for the comments I believe it's two Slave I cockpits linked together. No it's the part 61191, which come in an obscure set http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=61191 Quote
Only Sinner Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I really like what you've done here with the models. I would really like to see these in real bricks, too. Quote
