Lazarus Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Hello All. I have been really keen to put this bridge into my layout. Due to me not wanting to go pass ground level now i have to put an incline into the lay out. From the moc of the bridge i can get away with only rasing it 2 bricks high just enough so it looks rased. i also wanted to use as little space posible to create the incline, so on a bend was the best idea. from gound level each bit of track goes up by 1 3rd of a brick or a plate to get to 2 bricks. the incline should not put to much extra stress on most of my locos apart from maybe my horizon express. I have orderd all the parts for the bend and this will be the first thing i work on. Here are my LDD mocs, note i cant incline the track as LDD wont let me so the track show is there to give you an idea. Quote
SpokaneSteve Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Hello: I think that looks great. If you are only going up one plate per track section you should be fine. I have had trouble getting my trains to go up 2 plates per track section, even with a transition area. Any tips are always appreciated! Cheers, Steve. Quote
ThomAnsell Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Hi Lazarus, I've been thinking of doing the same thing in my layout. Has anyone tried using flexitrack? It might be easier to flex the track for the inclination but you might get less traction. Quote
Lazarus Posted March 3, 2013 Author Posted March 3, 2013 I run 9v so no flexi for me. but track bends are always a boring part of a layout and this gives it a nice look. should have the parts in a few week and will put up some picks of the end product. Quote
Lazarus Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 I have the incline complete just waiting on a few more bits to finish the ballast for the bend. Quote
lostdriveway Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Beautiful work! Can't wait to see it all finished!! Quote
Locomotive Annie Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 My word that's nice A really pleasant scene to take away all the boring qualities about having to place a curve on the layout. I really admire AFOL train enthusiasts who have the patient to build a scene in 100% Lego because I know very well doing that isn't cheap and it's a whole lot of brickwork to undertake as well. Quote
CamelBoy68 Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 So the estate agent/realtor said to Jim, its a nice cabin in the country with access to a private lake, so you can do some peaceful fishing. Then what happens, the train co build a track round the back.... Nice work ! Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Looks good and tranquil. Nice little rise as well without too much track inclination. You could always put a little bit of incline just behind the track, maybe in the corner to give the impression of the land rising away out of the scene. But yes, looks really good. The little houses by the lake are nice as well and it is good to see how you have built the garden areas with paths to go to the road and pavement. Quote
Electricsteam Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 That is awesome! Curvers are usally boring but what you made is beutiful! Althought I think you should add a tree at the top of the hill! Quote
Lazarus Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 May improve on this later but this is not the only one i have to finish at the moment :-), But when the over all bend is complete you will see what i see :-p. I would say in 2 months i will have this complete the two bridges made and a decline corner made. Quote
Younge Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Amazing that I was just thinking about doing something like this with a basic oval 9V layout, and I thought I would check the forums to see if anyone had done something similar. And here is this thread with such a great and simple solution!!!! Love this site!!! Love these forums!!! Oh, Lazarus, if you could post some progress photos, that would be awesome too!!! Quote
DaveBey Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Very nice! I can't wait to see the finished layout, bridge and all! Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave Quote
