Perusing the topics, I havent found one dedicated to the topic of independent suspensions. I have always found it sort of cheating to use pieces such as these http://www.bricklink...em.asp?P=32195b (mostly because I dont have any :sceptic: ). I am interested in what has been done NOT using the standard LEGO 'A' arms.

Here are a couple that I have done

This one the aim was maximum clearance, travel, and minimum width as well as not having a kingpin axis super far from the wheel (think Unimog).

This one is really compact and has good travel and works well in smaller models. It uses rubber bands instead of springs. Note that the yellow rubber band is only there to soften the effective spring constant. I have updated this design with longer links and the same overall width, but I didnt take any pics before dismantling it. This cannot be driven, and would be challenging to make steered.
