WesternOutlaw Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Raise the sails. Arm the blaster cannon! Fire the Turbo Laser Cannons, trooper, we're going to have a face-off! *vader* It's the 1st face off between these two outstanding Classic SW ships. Which is your favorite of these two ships, Jabba's Sail Barge (or) Imperial Star Destroyer? Discuss why. Quote
Scouty Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 The Sailer Barge. Mostly because 1. It's never been done before. 2. Comes with some new and nice pieces. 3. It has new figs. 4. It looks better than the ISD, which has already been done. I'm not saying the ISD is bad, it's great, GM *wub* , just that the Sailer Barge is better IMO. Quote
Capn Frank Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 ISD here the piece count is fabulous, over 1400 pieces and only $100 about in the US. A black R2 unit (A BLACK R2 UNIT!!), 2 storm troopers (never can have enough storm troopers), 2 emperor's guards, and Grand Mof Tarkin I feel are the most noteable figs it comes with. (i.e. lots of figs) The sail barge does come with another grogorean and Lando (whom i really like). Otherwise they're all the same figs as jabba's palace sets. Since i got the UCS ISD, after i get this ISD i could turn it into a Victory Class Star destoyer to scale with the USC ISD. Quote
Starwars4J Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Sail Barge hands down. The ISD is mainly plates (not all that useful really...), but comes with nice figs. The sail barge is cheaper, and comes with a bunch of nice figs too. It's also very creative and well done. The ISD is just...eh, it feels unfinished. Quote
LBaixinho Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 I vote 6210. Mainly 'cause 6211 is out of scale... ok, more out of scale than 6210 :) Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted December 21, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted December 21, 2006 I voted Sail Barge. The bridge of the Star Destroyer looks weird and it so sooo out of scale for minifigs! After the release of the UCS Star Destroyer, I don't really see the point of making this version. Quote
Vaders_son Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Voted for the SB. I like both sets very much and do own both of them, but the SB is just more beautiful then the ISD is. Both have nice minifigs, too. And I think the sense of the small ISD is to make one that some more people can afford (see LEGO top seller list ;-) ) and to have an ISD in (near) minifig-scale Vaders_son Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Sail Barge. The ISD just looks terribly out of scale (and the transgreen looks awful). Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 23, 2006 Author Posted December 23, 2006 I voted for the Star Destroyer. I've always loved the Imperial Navy. Order must be restored to the SW galaxy! Quote
mutley777 Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Although the voting says otherwise, i think this is one of the hardest polls ever! I went for the sailbarge in the end but only on value alone. These are 2 fantastic sets and every star wars fan should try to get both! :-) Quote

oo7 Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 This is easy. Sail Barge all the way! Both have lots of great minifigs but since I favor history and pirate themes both the minifigs and parts of the Sail Barge are of greater use to me. The Barge also costs less than the ISD. The sail barge is also a Star Wars legend that is now in Lego for the first time, significantly boosting it's coolness factor. Lastly I absolutely despise the horrible scale of the ISD. I know, it would be way to expensive to make it anywhere near correct scale but they could have just given us a playset with a couple of rooms, a turbolift (that's Trek terminology, isn't it?) and a turret on the roof, after all the real thing is so big it will be in several pieces after most kids try to swoosh it anyways. The little cockpit with the "windscreen" is also so stupid. Quote
PaulC Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 I have to stick up for the poor old ISD, purely for it's mod-ing and moc-ing potential. I love my sail barge, but it will always be a sail barge. My ISD will never remain the same. After I've mod-ed it to look much more authentic (removed all those trans greeny-yellow pieces) and built a proper interior for it, it will have to become Dash Rendar's ship for a while and hang out with my original Millennium Falcon. After that I might combine it with the parts from my UCS AT-ST and who knows what I'll come up with?! Woo! Quote
Vaders_son Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 How do you transform an ISD into Dash Rendar's Outrider?! Do you have pics of your creation? - I'd love to see how you managed to do this *wub* Merry Xmas!! Vaders_son Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 24, 2006 Author Posted December 24, 2006 I'd like to see that as well. I don't believe I ever saw the Outrider in Lego. Quote
mutley777 Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 i think it was a alternate model on the back of the box. Quote
valentin Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Sail Barge gets my vote, since it was not produced before in Lego Star Wars. Though, if voting purely in lego sense, I would have gone for the ISD since it's got more bricks to MOC. Quote
CopMike Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Voted sailbarge - more drinks served there *y*. It has improved some since LEGO made one in 2000: Sailbarge v1.00 ! GT On X-D copmike Quote

I don't believe I ever saw the Outrider in Lego. To Vader's son and The Brickster: I haven't made it yet, but the Outrider is one of the official alternative models for the ISD. You can download the instructions from Lego.com here, and below is a picture of the finished model. Quote
Vaders_son Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 I think it doesn't look to bad for being build with basic bricks only. - The SB I mean :-) And thx for the information PaulC...I didn't remember it because I put the box away. Quote

oo7 Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 That's one weird looking Millenium Falcon. X-D I still think it's just crazy that Lucas throws in a couple spaceships that fly by the top of the screen for a couple seconds in Episode IV and each ship gets it's own name and a Starwars.com database page with specifications of performance and affiliations. Oh why g-d why?!?! Although that model looks nice with all the different angled facets. Quote
Evil Willy Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Sail barge. WEE. Cause I have it, and according to other people it is the better of the two. Quote
