I observe from the pictures that several of these mini-figs have posed legs, is this the dawning of a new leg design to permit more positions or is it just artistic licence in the photographs?

No. This kind of artistic renderings have been around since CMFS1.

There is no indication in the press release, but I think that we can all safely assume that they will be sold in blind packaging.

One question, are these going to be in mystery packets like CMF? Or will they be in packets showing which you get? I have relatives in the UK and I don't think they could feel for them. If you know the answer please tell me. Thank!

Precisely what I had been wondering about, but I think that by the initial pic (that showed the bags) we can assume that they will be in blind packages too.

Should this series give me hope that Lego could offer more series centered around a specific theme? This may exclude the possibility of a series based around a licensed property due to licensing costs and conflicts with action figure manufacturers.

Though I don't know how much of this would just be speculation/wishful thinking without any hints straight from Lego.

they are very nice, but a bit stupid that LEGO only releases them for the UK. I should do some swimming training in the summer vacation ;)

These are amazing looking! My favorite is the swimmer. He could easily have been just another bare-chested minifig like the Surfer, but the water droplets beading up on his skin differentiate him just enough to make him quite unique!

I'd love to get these, but being in the U.S. it'll be difficult. I'll have to see what they go for on the aftermarket, and if they turn out to be too expensive I may not be able to get a full set. Which is a pity, because they all look great.

Does anyone know how many figs will be in a case? Will it be 60 like the regular CMF or smaller since there are less unique figs?

Lego has not switched to flesh figs in general, and I personally hope they don't. Yellow is one of the things that makes the minifig unique.

So long as they aren't specific people, TLG should keep their figs the iconic yellow. Not that it bothers me, since I don't intend to get any of these, I'm just not a sports person.

Wishes and dreams my friends. I am ecstatic that TLG is testing the market with the London Olympics. I imagine that these Minifigs will sell well and fast. I was at the Vancouver games 4 years ago and Olympic memorabilia and collectors are a fascinating culture.

It is difficult to make other countries, as Olympic minifigs, to satisfy everyone. Some country will obviously be left out simply due to demand. It was smart to make Team GB as the host country would have the most rabid fandom. I have spent many summers in Vancouver visiting my relatives and my wife is from Vancouver. So when we went to Vancouver, during the Games, we got caught up in the excitement and wanted some souvenirs to remember the occasion. We got these official CANADA Team jackets that were all the rage. As well as these popular red mittens that have a white maple leaf on them. Every store was sold out of them but would get replenished quite frequently. You had to get lucky to find your size. I foresee these selling very well since they are so inexpensive. There is subset of Olympic fans that are serious collectors. It has to do with the Olympic Pins. Some are extreme completists. They strive to have a complete collection of all the pins made for the olympics. I dont think it is a stretch to think that some of that mentality will go toward the Lego Olympic Minifigs

Anyway we should be glad that TLG has bothered trying something like this. I think it is all due to the massive success that came from the CMF series.

Yeah it was fun. But not waiting for an hour and a half to get into the Bay downtown. That was the mother ship store for Olympic merchandise. We found the mittens at a Zellers in Richmond, where her mom lives now.
