kyphur Posted December 2, 2011 This is my initial concept of a Purist Self Contained Powered Tender to get Steam Locomotives converted to PF. It's a little large at 16 studs in length but it does hide all of the PF components. I'm confident it can be shortened by 4 studs if I replace the battery box with the pp3 PF to 9v Battery adapter (I have 3 of them) but I wanted to get a purist version out there first. Here are some renders: I'm looking for input from my fellow Train guys here...
roamingstop Posted December 2, 2011 (edited) Very nice... dropping in a PP3 --> PF is a great idea, but it will have significantly lower runtime. I did a test with a 4512 modified trains somewhere on this forum, and got maximum of 2 hours or so. Edited December 2, 2011 by roamingstudio

After a quick look I'd suggest swapping the placement of the battery and receiver. You should be able to save a couple of studs length, though you would end up with wires visible poking out the tender doors. Would all the other interconnections still work?
