Sandy Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Hi guys! I'm sure most of you have already heard about the new RPG experience that launched yesterday in the Games Forum. If you haven't, why don't you go check it out after glancing at this MOC I built for it? Let me present: Heroica Hall As you see, it is not a complete building since it acts only as a backdrop in the RPG. The design and architecture are actually inspired by the headquarters of Clan Centurio in the videogame Final Fantasy XII. I tried to get some fantasy vibe into the building so it wouldn't be just another vaguely medieval construction, hence the outlandish color scheme. Anyway, Heroica Hall is the headquarters of an organization of adventurers that perform heroic deeds for a reward. The hall includes the main staircase, a saloon on the upper floor and a gallery below it. There is a notice board on the bottom floor that contains pitches for the different quests that the aspiring heroes can sign into. The sidewalls are decorated by legendary weapons - they just happen to be all made of gold in this case. The staircase leads up to the saloon on both sides. The saloon is where the adventurers come to drink and dine between questing. It is run by a female orc called Scheherazade, who knows all the latest rumours and is eager to spread them forward as well. Isn't she a beauty? However, she is not the leader of the organization. That job belongs to the six elusive elite warriors calling themselves the "Veterans". Here's the bar and the door to the kitchen. And here's a few closer looks at the dining area. Below the saloon, there's a long gallery where portraits of all the people who have served in Heroica are displayed. There's also a globe that shows the entire the world. Not like good old Earth, is it? The adventurers sometimes gather to compete who can find their location from the globe the fastest. That useless piece of information concludes our tour of the Heroica Hall. Hope to see you all in the game! Quote
Masked Builder Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Very cool MOC there Sandy! I really like the hallway with the pictures. The walls on the whole MOC are cool. Quote
HumanPackMule Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Very nice! I can see the influences from FF XII in it, seeing as how I played the Megabloks out of it. I like how you used the space under the upper portion. Quote
Khorne Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 As I've already said in the Heroica thread, great MOC! The mottling using a lot of different colours is well done and really gives that "special" touch to the building. But the thing I like most of all is the Quest board. I just love the cluttered look of it . Oh, it's also good to see a picture of the bar, somehow, I envisioned it to be bigger, with all the characters sitting there and all in the RPG . Quote
blueandwhite Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I'm a huge fan of large interiors and this is both large and an interior so it wins on both fronts. I have to say that the mottling in the walls is fantastic. You've mixed a wide range of colours together that in most circumstances should not work, yet they work perfectly here. The dark green in the walls strikes me as being particularly bold. Good stuff! Quote
K-Nut Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Beautiful! You inspired me to create my own scenery that I planned on using in my character intro. I didn't then but I might try and present the MOC later. I love the notice board, simple, yet effective. Hopefully you'll add some more to this in the future. Great work. Quote
SirSven7 Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 This moc is what inspired me to create my little story when I joined. I want to know whats behind those two doors next to the quest board very nice Quote
Rumble Strike Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 (edited) As I said in the Heroica RPG discussion thread, I love the look and feel of Heroica Hall, Sandy. The blue colour is lovely and the separate areas are all very well thought out. The concept has inspired me to create my first ever MOC today (at least, the first since I was about 10!), which I hope to photograph and be able to show tomorrow when my character makes his debut Edited August 14, 2011 by Rumble Strike Quote
Fred Fred Burger Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Man the color scheme of this moc is great it really is the perfect headquarters for a group of adventurers. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Nice MOC Sandy and thanks for putting the game together. Hopefully I will get to check out the rules soon and join in on the fun! Quote
Norrington Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I am really digging the arcade of Persian arches. The multi-colored walls do keep it from being a noral, grey-light grey-black castle, but at the same time, the Fire Truck red, SpongeBob orange, forest green and feel a tad incongruous with the brown and tan (as well as new brick and sand tans) and other more "earthy" tones. Overall, really great. :) Quote
Forestboy Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Absolutely fantastic MOC! Like said before, the creation has a real look and feel about it. The your detailing on the walls and in the architecture is great. Also, the quest board looks really slick. Really well done. ~FB~ Quote
Arigomi Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Impressive! I love how you incorporated elements from a wide array of themes. The controlled chaos of colors gives it a nice atmosphere. The building reflects how all the patrons come from different backgrounds. Scheherazade fits right in as well and brings a lot of charm to the scene. Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Excellent MOC 'Sandy', fantastic detailing.....though the bar-maid doesn't look that good ! Brick On 'Sandy' ! Quote
LegoDadRobb Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 The arches are fantastic and the portraits are a real treat. I can only imagine the kind of planning that had to go into this work -- the placement of the weapons on the wall alone is well thought out. Quote
K-Nut Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 (edited) Excellent MOC 'Sandy', fantastic detailing.....though the bar-maid doesn't look that good ! That's what I said! I ain't ordering a drink from her. Another thing I forgot to add in my earlier post is that I love how you used the Harry Potter walls in the hall of heroes. Very clever. CorneliusMurdock Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 So many great things about this. I especially love the gallery and the bulletin board. I also really like the brick-built doors. Simple but detailed. And I like the barmaid. There's a lot of character there. Quote
