Hi Eurobrickers, maybe you have seen my City already once before on Flickr. This video is a video of 17 may including 2 Maersktrains..

Next time i will try to show moving trains...but then i need someone to control the 7 motorized trains and few static trains or trams!!

Enjoy the flight over one of Hollands largest and busiest LegoCities: LegoSjaaks City !!!!!

Looks good 'LegoSjaak'. Can't wait to see those Maersks running! I'd help you run the trains but, I don't think my remote signal will transmit that far  One question (actually two) though, can you or how do you reach the sets at the far end? Do they stay static? Anyway I look forward to your next video, I love seeing other large layouts :classic:

Hi Leg Godt Gud,

About your questions, the track goes around the city, so there is 3.5 meters of straight track at the far end... I nailed the track to the floor there, so it wouldn't move... but yesterday the curve got loose in the left far corner (behind the police station) and one of the yellow cargo-engines derailed and i had to get it.. When i have to do that, i just make a little space for a hand and 2 spaces for a knee....when i reach out, i can just touch the corner..... But, it is not very practical..!! one time a got stuck and the large plane dropped on the city...it was a big mess.....

The room im my house is limited...and my girlfriend only wants me to use the room under the roof!

Trains can go around, but not all at once... Only the tram and the Emerald Night are not motorized, but the rest is rolling from time to time...

Next video is with running Maersktrains!!

what a big and busy town! it seems really alive with all those trucks and people "working"!

one thing I would change are the creators sets on the back; I've seen you have quite a lot of them! I would build all the three house models and with the (lots of) left bricks I would moc another house. in this way you would end with a more diversified sight.

have a nice train lego day (I'm sure you'll have it!)

That's a great busy town, LegoSjaak.

I was wondering about access too but sounds like you've got that sort of under control.

Indeed, sort of control... I think i could better make a rope to the roof, so i can add or repair my city hanging above it...!!!

Thanks mrBlue.... you will enjoy your lego-train-day as well!!? The creator sets are one of my most beauftifully designed sets...and i wanted to make a sort of street, and here in holland there are a lot of streets which have the same houses...so that was my idea....

And, moccing is not my strongest point.. sometimes i'm adding something, or slight modifications...but overall i keep the sets original....

I remember those residential areas when I have been to your country and I have seen some in the USA as well.

I still remember when I had the chance to buy that set, but a voice from inside said "oh... no need to buy that... you'll find it again next time...", but now it's too late!

I just think that because if I'm not wrong you have 4 or 5 of them and I think that the alternate versions share an equally good design!

I bought all Townhouses about a year ago..they are all second hand, and only one box was still sealed... The last half year, i haven't seen one new, but also none for second hand... !! The other desings are also okay, but not as nice as the Townhouse itself...but that is just a matter of taste. Maybe TLG comes up with a modular house....no shop, hotel or firestation, but just a simple house.....sometimes the strength is just to keep it simple... Point is also that the 4954 Townhouse (i got 4 of them) fits on a 16 x 32 plate....and in this way i can place them directly to a road plate. Due to limited space, a created a 16 x 32 wide 'street' along the roadplates instead of a 32 x 32 plate... that saved space! Holland is a small country, and we have to be creative with space, so that was why i put them this way...

Buildings like police-station, firestations and the garage are quite difficult to place in a City...with the none rectangular shapes of the baseplates...... You have to fill a lot of gaps with small 8x16 baseplates.....

But, im very satisfied the way the City is now..... Now i need to work on the airport... at the moment planes and heli's are packed together.....need again a lot of space for that... ough...!!!

Those repairs sound tricky! Space always seems to be an issue, I have the same problem. I can't "modernize" my city with sets 09' and newer. My city only has 2 new small buildings built, as well as, a few vehicles. The rest are at least 10 years old. How much space do you have for expansion? :classic:

Yeah, it is a small disaster when something breaks down, but the past half year, it only happened two times...so it isn't that bad.... I started almost two years ago with collecting Lego....and most of my sets are fairly new..i think most sets are from 2009 and newer. But, due to limited room-space, i must thinks twice before i buy another new set..... The airport needs a lot of space, but i simply cannot throw away all that household stuff which is already there for 5 years....because then i will have a problem with my girlfriend..... I can create some space, and maybe i will this summer.....

On the other hand... newer sets from 2011 like the space-theme and the harbour are, 'luckily' not really my taste.....so i won't buy any of those sets...but if there is another train or some other nice vehicles...well..then i just have to buy them....;)

Till now, the city is still not tóó busy in my opinion....

Yeah, late 09' I started up again. I went after all the 80's and 90's sets I missed out on then moved to the newer from 07 and up. Most are in my attic in bins or still in their boxes. I hope to one day build a large table for all of them. Unfortunately I love the new city sets and hope to one day add them. I really could use a warehouse
