Gareth Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Hello, just curious has anyone yet had the chance to try out the new track in a proper set up?. As I would be interested to see the pictures of it and if there's a video of it being used. Also how solid is it and would any one recommend it for replacement of the 12volt plastic Gray rails, to combine the two systems. I would do it my self but finance issues and the fact that I am no where near completing my set up yet makes it difficult for me to do so. Look foreword to your replies thanks Gareth. Quote
roamingstop Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Did you do a search? http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=54087 I did not explicitly try it with 9V track, or do an electrical test, but did take this photo (my Digital Multi-meter died). Photo does show the colour differences from old grey to modern bley, and brown and 9V / aluminium track. BUT... the price and quality mean that it if you want a colour harmony, it is not too expensive to change totally. Quote
Gareth Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 Thanks roamingstudio, It give's me more of an incentive to get my set up complete. Quote
fred67 Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 (edited) Reviving a dead thread, but think it's relevant and didn't want to start a completely new one. I don't get to set out the trains to play with very often, but I do manage to set up a Christmas loop with the holiday train and, for the past few years, the LEGO Christmas sets (Toy Shop, Bakery, and now the Post Office). I have a substantial investment in 9V, and while I'm OK with PF, don't want to give up on 9V altogether. I was excited about ME Models rails and bought several sets when they were released - only straights, as I was interested in large radius curves and they weren't available at first. Today was the first day I finally got to try them out with the holiday train... and they work great. The curves are still the LEGO 9V curves, but I replaced 16 straights with 8 ME double size straights (all in brown though, so it's mismatched like roamingstudio's picture). I did not need the tape it comes with... everything connected just fine, and it seems to work great. Looking forward now to getting a few more and some curves, too. Brown ties look so much better, IMO. EDIT: DSCF1281 by FredJH, on Flickr DSCF1280 by FredJH, on Flickr Edited December 16, 2011 by fred67 Quote
harry27 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 With the current prices of 9v track has anybody had any experience in using thier new track?. I dont like to use anything else than lego but I would consider this as an alternitive. Quote
JopieK Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 They are nice. I mainly use them for e.g. making a steam engine pit. Quote

medib Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) I dont have any myself. I saw some of it used at the Syracuse show I was at (I think these belonged to Kevin Salm, If I remember correctly). They were relatively easy to set up, fully compatible with 9v set-up and no discernable differences between it and stock 9v track. I think my personal opinion, is that the ME track has a "tinny" sound when the trains ride on them, which could be a good effect if you are needing track on a bridge like a truss bridge or somthing like that.
