I Scream Clone Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 (edited) Take a look at the breathtaking Western display from Australia's Brickvention just run last weekend in Melbourne Victoria. Dr Rod and other members of SYDLug have posted these pictures in the Western discussion thread but they really deserve more exposure to show some of the amazing details they have achieved with this display, winning the Peoples Choice award. XimenaPaulina Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Amazing display! Thanks for sharing this ISC! No wonder this display won, it's as if you're really inside an Old Western Village looking at this display. The wooden buildings look very realistic with the nice color variation and clever placement of the roof tiles, and the cave is wonderfully done too. Kudos to the SYDLug members for this impressive creation. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Awesome! Although there is a very large amount of brown bricks in this MOC, it doesn't look boring at all. The farm, the mud trail here on the last picture, and the saloon with LED-lights are all great. I think it has everything that a real "cowboy village" would have had. They did an excellent job here Quote
BrickPerfection Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 That is just so impressive for a lanscape display! The buildings in true minifigure scale combined with that detail is quite amazing. I really like how all these reddish brown tiles create the impression of mud! Though I'm wondering: does any of these buildings have an interior? Maybe the amount of cactuses is a bit too much. Well it's really nice to look at anyway. The Western theme was buried way too early. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 It's an amazing diarama. All I could say is that I want one! Quote
Tabris Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 (edited) Oh my, what a beautiful display Guess I'll have to move to Autralia to learn from the experts Edited January 27, 2011 by Tabris Quote

The saloon was displayed with two walls and half the roof removed so people could see the "action" inside. The mud was a moment of inspiration and worked well indeed. Cheers, Dr Rod Quote
Athos Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Lovely work. Nice to see that Wild West still has fans. Steve Quote
General Armendariz Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 This is amazing! I just love the road showing tracks of the horses. This is the very definition of Lego Western. Quote
Sirens-of-Titan Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Wow that's a lot of brown! It's huge which has a great appeal to me, but it's also so detailed I can't believe it looks as good as it does on that scale! The train is beautiful, the saloon/inn is great. (some bright candles huh? ) The best part is all the little wild west touches like the piles of barrels, supplies, wheels and the custom wagons. These folks did great Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Thanks for sharing, I Scream Clone! This diorama looks completely amazing! :oh: I really it! Esp. all those details in the landscape, in the architecture of the buildings but even in the interior of the saloon are brilliant! Let's hope that the Western theme will come back soon! blueandwhite Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 This is a really beautiful display. You really don't see a lot of western displays as large or beautiful as this. If you don't mind, what camera (and lens) did you shoot this with and what was the shutter speed and aperture? The shots are really nice coming from a show. Quote
maydayartist Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Another really big display similar to the castle one from Hong Kong. And another one really awesome build. I never visited such a big event but seing this great picture in such a perfect scenery. Quote
Dr Rod Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Hiya All, I finally edited video I took of Brickvention 2011, it has footage of El Bricko. It is on youtube under the SydLUG account. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o3y-WQWQt4 Oleg, Rod Quote
Gabe Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I was fortunate enough to be able to attend Brickvention, and i can report that the western diorama was even more impressive than the pictures show. The interiors were especially nice. (and hard to photograph!) They even had a list of things (like birds, bugles, various minifigs etc) that they challanged you to find in the MOC, so you really did spend a fair bit of time admiring it! Quote
