Admiral Croissant Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 (edited) After seeing the perfectly customized minifigs of Tin7 and The Penguin, and watching the movie Master and Commander: the Far Side of the World (and of course the book series, although I read only 2 of them so far), I got inspired to make my own. I had already been experimenting a bit with this and this minifig. So with some clay, decal paper and paint, this is how it turned out: This is a reference link for his hat. This is the only image I could find of him with these clothes on For background stories of these characters, look here. And here's a link to the used torso's (viewable when public). C&C are of course very welcome Edited January 19, 2011 by Admiral Croissant Quote
tin7_creations Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 These are very good for first time work with clay and decals. I'm glad I was able to inspire you! One suggestion (though it will take a lot of practice); take a knife to some of the hairpieces (particularly the one for Preserved Killick), very carefully trim down so that it looks more refined and detailed. Always do this before doing any painting on the hairpieces; it will look LOADS better. ~t7_c Quote
the Inventor Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Nice customization job, Admiral They all look really nice, just like their movie counterpart. I especially like Jack Aubrey. the Inventor Quote
Captain Becker Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 nice job whit these Admiral Stephen Maturins torso seems to be too red IMO, but the others look very nice. Good job whit these. Captain Becker Quote
Darth Yogi Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Very nice customs. I really like the first sword, and the coats. The hairs seem kind of plain IMO, but still really nice. Great job Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Very well done customs Admiral Croissant! What I particularly like about your customs are the accurate coats and the unique hair-headgear combination that we don't see in standard lego figs (or until we get the upcoming Jack Sparrow fig). Though the sharpie work needs improvement (which I totally understand since I'm guilty of that too). Still, this is quite an impressive job especially with your first attempt, so keep it up! Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Use masking tape to get the lines perfectly straight when painting. Spiffy figs! Wish I could print good quality torsos... Quote
